Greetings everyone, Lars here. I think it goes without saying that the community here on the boards has declined somewhat over the past year or so, and that's something that comes across as rather depressing for some of us. Member numbers are dropping, public interest is waning, and everyone more frequently chooses to talk about completely random and nonsensical things, rather than about the project. It's not without due cause, though. Back in the day, the forums were roaring with activity; everyone wanted a part of this awesome new game project that was starting out. Of course since then the level lists quickly filled up, and we got the game mostly fleshed out, and we were forced to close down the suggestion boards, leaving a lot of folks somewhat detatched from the project. The community became more like a group of spectators rather than an actual community. However, as we've been announcing to you all over the past few months, we've done some heavy re-organizing of the project; dropping a lot of dead weight, cleaning up the level lists, finalizing various plot and gameplay details, and now progress is flowing smoothly again. As such, with a lot of the "housecleaning" that we've done, we've actually found ourselves with some open level slots again. So what better way to make use of the newfound space, then to let the community be part of the development process! The Fusion Team hereby announces the start of a community level project. We're letting you guys be in charge of developing a brand new level for the game! You can choose from Worlds 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, or -1 to put this level in, and you all can decide on the details for the level; what level to make, whether it's a game-based, original, or Fusion level, what enemies to put in it, what music to use, what gimmicks or hazards to put in, what layout to use, etc. etc. Obviously you're still going to have to stick to the rules, though, so no Naruto levels or whatnot. Since this is you guys' level, though, we recommend that you guys make an attempt to provide any resources needed for the level yourselves, including any custom ones you may want, although we Devs might assist a little if you're having trouble. Keep in mind, though, that ultimately the Dev Team will be the ones having to put this level together in the end, so we do reserve the right to veto any ideas that are too over-the-top or complicated or whatnot. Past that, though, the community gets the say on all the details for this level. So without further ado, you guys can feel free to start throwing out ideas, and start deciding on what it is you want to see put together. Once we start getting enough ideas we can start using polls to vote on what goes into it. |

It's too late to apologize. It's too late~! ...joking aside. I would like to suggest the Portal level. But then I saw how bad my levels were compared to others. And how bad my coding was compared to Sup's. And then the boards closed down. My interest died after the forums died, and levels were beginning to get removed. Certainly mine was removed. I don't know what happened to the Portal sprites that were already made, but NO Body might have made a Gun. |

Now that you mention it, the Dev. team has dropped over the months of developing the game. But I'm pleased about re-opening the level suggestion area. The only problem is, I am not good at finding resources for levels, seems like a challenge for me. But, having some fan-made levels is one of the best ideas for the game, mainly because this is like what some gaming companies did in the early days, where fans would submit their level and it could be included in the game. It adds tons of variety. However, I would like to see a Sonic level based off of Sonic Colors or maybe something like a Casino/Carnival themed level from the early Sonic games. |

-Unlurk- I always thought it would cool to have a Venus Lighthouse level for world 6, with little djinn helpers that you could pick up to help you solve puzzles. A portal level sounds cool too though. |

Oh also don't forget, this contest (if it can be called like this) is for one level only, so the community would need to get into an agreement as for what would this level exactly contain, give all the resources needed, and don't go overboard, so don't just toss a dozen random suggestions like "zomg a devil may cry level. End", with no resources or anything, or it'll just become a mess like the old level suggestion forums lol. Also Bloodgrey: actually I recently had an idea for a windows/DOS medley level, just like the one you just mentioned. I thought it would contain stuff from various fitting platforming games from some DOS games. I was thinking of games like Prehistorik 2, Xargon and Jazz Jackrabbit (could reuse D-Turbokiller's level's resources). I already have all the resources from Prehistorik 2, and could get Jazz Jackrabbit's easily, Xargon's would be harder to get maybe. If you guys don't know these games, here are a couple videos: Xargon: [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVK4_Yg0jFg[/utube] Prehistorik 2: [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW-wRuiev4s[/utube] The idea I had would be just a medley level, similar to Crossroads, mixing tiles from all the games and enemies. Maybe more DOS games would fit, but honestly I never played many, I think these 3 were actually the only 3 platforming DOS games I ever played lol. Maybe more community members know more.. oh, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure's stuff might fit too, and we already have one enemy coded. |

Well I dare to suggest that much cause if one will get choosen of it I can stand behind it and deal with sprite and tile stuff. ![]() And here's my last level suggestion: Commodore Plus4/16/64 games Although that would be so obscure, only certain countries' gamers would recognise them, tons of games were made on these systems, especially German and Hungarian games, they were popular at eastern europe during the '80s-'90s, mostly typing adventure games, it's the hidden treasure chest of gaming. Cook, DOS and games: Biomenace Worms Charlie the Duck Titus Alien Carnage The Lost Vikings Skifree (it's for windows, but the yeti is a remarkable character) I'm sure the others will bring up some more, worth checking them. Speaking of old DOS games, (and other games for windows), I think I should suggest using some obscure but familiar things to reference... such as that monster from Ski Free, and you can collect cheese(in place of coins or rupees or whatever) like in the game Rodent. Minesweeper has already been covered, so no need to suggest that. the best place for this would probably be the minus world if not world 0. For an element in this level, characters that have the "Push" animation could push some blocks around maybe to get a more rare power up, some rupees, or even uncover a secret path to a hidden room/exit. it'd be nice to see that pushing animation actually be useful. |

What luck ![]() Then perhaps it IS possible to suggest a Klonoa themed level now. ![]() Yeah I know, I still rant about the Klonoa Moonlight Museum idea. >__> I did rip out the tileset for the museum part, but I could always update it to be of the same amazing quality as the rest of the game. ![]() ![]() Anyways, the level. Moonlight Museum is the main story focus in Klonoa: Moonlight Museum and was a place where supposedly, Klonoa got trapped inside with some rather... less than sane artists of all kinds. Being Klonoa and all, the level would be heavily focused on puzzles and using Moo's to get across certain traps and chasms. As for the music, Klonoa 2 actually had a tribute level based on Moonlight Museum using this amazing peace of music: [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_VEHTg9-Mc[/utube] As a whole level thoe, I had the idea that the level is divided by 5 parts, one is the main museum which serves as the levels lobby where you must find 4 different paintings. These paintings teleports you to one of the four different worlds from Moonlight Museum. At the end of each is a key of a kind that will unlock a door in the Main Museum. Suceeding all the paintings will finally let you through the locked door and into the final tricky challenge of the main museum itself (like the original game). In the end, you find the exit to escape the museum... What do you think? I could fix the tilesets and enemy sprites if you'd like. ![]() For reference, there should be some videos on youtube of Moonlight Museum.

Nice, but I suggest a poll containing the major suggestions of forumites and they can vote on which suits best. Maybe after a while when a couple of forumers have made their suggestions, just to streamline the selection process and not end up Suggestion forums 2.0. But it's your call Dev team - I'm just a lowly forumer. That said I'm tied between Risingmanes Portal Level or Bloodgrey's DOS/Windows Game Medley Level suggestion. P.S. I might suggest a River City Ransom level for world 8 (or world -1) seeing that I remember there were enemies based on the gangs you fought in river city ransom developed for it - though knowing my luck they might've been turfed out. EDIT: Fixed the name mixup, my apologies Bloodgrey. Whatever is needed though I'll try my best to contribute. Edited by Aussieportal, Feb 16 2011, 09:24 AM.

And yes, I currently have a stock lighting ball as an avatar - live with it, I'm lazy. Skins WIP by VeteranPortal: Retro Luigi - Luigi sprited as he was in SMB2/SMB3, NES style. Complete as of V0.41, JUST have to upload it now and share with the world. Retro Link - Link sprited as he was in Zelda II, with powerups coming from as if Zelda II was like SMB3 . Completion - 70%, Normal, Boomerang, Bow and Cloud Link Complete. Classic and Deku Link Largely Complete, Bomb Link on Hold for now, Now it's down to Zero Link or Arbiter Link. Due to plain lack of energy and Dev plans to update Link this skin will be on Indefinate Hiatus. My sincere apologies to everyone anticipating this skin. ??? - TBA of commencement. Currently due to lack of time and motivation. Plus V0.5 is a ways off so I can't even get the sprite layout. Hint: It's from an old Compile Game back in the 80's yes, that's a vague hint. I only had an idea for a level, just like I have a lot (like most of you do too, but I do not always start them or share, I didn't think about actually making it yet, I hate to take more than 1 WIP at a time or I'd never get anything done), but for this DOS/Windows games' medley level, recently other devs showed some interest on it, so yeah there's a small chance it'd probably happen outside of this MKF community project, so yeah I don't know if it still should be mentioned here lol, I'm sure some of you would still love to contribute even if it wasn't this community project. |

Well I think I don't reveal a big secret if I tell that I'm all behind it, I already sent a list with buncha freeware/shareware/abandonware game titles. So if it's time I think better ope a topic for it and bring it to the people, I would gladly do sprite research and such. On topic I'm all behind that portal level, but wasn't it shot down because it's gimick, the portal gun, is too much of a fuss and compared to that it won't be used at anywehere else? I say give some love for World 4 and let's do a classic shooter fusion, with Duke, Hexen, Blood, Bad Toys, Descent, System Shock, MDK, Turok, and Half-Life. Most of these are actually fits well with the Demon Realm theme. |
