I think the time the Metroid can launch onto you should be shortened. Samus was able to get them off her in a matter of seconds. I think having to button smash for a good 10 seconds will make players weak after a while. Maybe allow players to get them off after the Metroid does at least one hit's worth of damage to them. |

Well, Game Maker crashed and I lost all of my progress of the day. I managed to snag some screen beforehand, though!!! So, Mario, you're just gonna be all over these shafts. It's a labyrinth, so you should probably check out that door. ![]() Well, this is different. It's still a shaft, but not quite the shaft that we're used to. ![]() Check out this door, as well, Mario! There might be ancient treasures. ![]() Nope, no treasures here. Just caves and acid. ![]() Also, some midgets throwing grenades. ![]() Now, Mario, that was nice, and all, but let's head back and check out the other rooms. What could there possibly b OH NO METROID ![]() But, yeah, everything from the second screen onwards? Gone. I'll have to remake most all of this. ;(((((( |

Oh man....sorry to hear that. Losing a day's work can be so incredibly frustrating!! I do want to comment that your progress looks superb from those screenshots so far. I'm particularly looking forward to the non-linear level design. |

question. Are any of the metroid levels that are plannign to be scrapped in the current V.04? And Fever frenzy too? As for the sequence breaking and shooting of doors, I have some suggestions for you. just to help with your brainstorming that is. how about have the blaster cannon from mega man in this world. At least just to really get that feel of blasting doors down. That way you won't have to rely entirely on the keys. If the MM sprite placement isn't kosher with the environment, you can always redesign it later on to make it feel more Metroidish but without looking like you ripped off samus's armor cannon. And maybe have a couple doors that can only be accessed from one direction by characters with projectiles, like arthur, mario (hammer suit, gun suit) and Roll (bass suit), which would act like a shortcut. such as a access door on the ceiling. said door than might also be accessible by going a longer route and doing some backtracking. (of course you may not want to go down it by that point) It could help you expand the environment a little, and add some diversity for the cast. just some food for thought. I honestly won't mind if they're in there or not. and one question is will you have different music for the different areas, like how it is in the metroid games? |

First of all, I have no idea what you're getting at in the first question. Sorry. As for using guns to open doors, it would be kind of a hassle. When carrying a gun, some characters lose a lot of their manouvering and other abilities, and since opening doors would require using a gun, they'd have to carry guns at all times, which mostly just defeats the purpose of having multiple characters. Also, most of the rooms are pretty short, and because of that, you'd have to constantly pick up a gun at the beginning of each and every room. I would also have to put a gun at every entrance of every room, and since most rooms have multiple ways to enter, the floor would be cluttered with guns. It simply just doesn't work, at all. As for special doors that can only be opened by a character's projectiles, I'll think about it. Probably not gonna happen, though. Secret areas and the like will be entered by ways other than doors, such as going through a wall that turned out to be fake, using Link's arrows to climb up to a higher area, using a ground stomp move to crush some bricks below you etcetera. Using doors would A) Make the secret areas too obvious and Would just shut off characters that don't have projectiles from entering certain areas.

I think this level can use more tracks (Brinstar, Kraid, Norfair or whatever Finny includes) once it's done, there are SNES format music tracks with are just a few kilobytes big. |

We only have one Metroid level (Zebes Expedition) in v.41, and while I don't know what Fin's plans are with it, the general idea the Dev Team had was to have it merged into a longer level (why have all the effort WB did on it go to waste?). "Fever Frenzy" was just a level concept. Well actually I think there was some progress originally made on the level by it's creator, but it was lost when his computer crashed or something- I don't completely remember. In any case we never even saw the level, let alone had it merged into the game at all. |

All right cool. I'll check out the current version of Zebes in v.41. As for fever frenzy, for some reason I was getting it confused with Vegas fever. But if the level never made it to the cutting floor, than yah I can see why it was ignored. |

![]() Somewhere in this room, there is a secret exit leading to a whole bunch of treasures. Where is it, I wonder? Things are coming along swimmingly. If I manage to get Norfair done today, I'll hopefully have the whole thing done by the end of the week. Hopefully, at least. |

hmm I wonder if you'll need some more enemies for this, it looks like the Metroid ones might get boring after a while. Maybe you can reuse some of Bydo Station's flying enemies around, the droids, or we can code that weird fly-like enemy from Metroid 1 that was on the ceilings and hoped down, it'd be like a ceiling-clone of that bee in Mario's level Birabuto Bash, but jumping stronger. |

On that screenshot, I think I know where it is, but will only certain characters be able to reach the secret room, or will it be all? Del, are you talking about the enemy that waited on the ceiling and divebombed the player when the player was near, or was it the small enemy that always went up and down as it flew? I forgot the name of the latter, but the first is the Shriekbat. |

nice, only a few characters will be able to make it through there; sonic, tails, small bros, small wario, samus, maybe Kirby maybe Proto Man and Roll can too if they use Item-1 and then slide when it's aligned |

I like where this stage is going. I've always preferred Tails over Sonic in the Sonic games because Tails's flight ability allows him to explore the stages instead of just trying to finish the stage. Fun times indeed... I'm getting those same feelings of exploration in this stage (after all, Metroid is mostly exploration, some linear areas). I have a feeling I'll be playing this stage more than just a few times. The only thing that could possibly make this any better is an epic battle with Kraid (since bosses are another favorite feature of mine). |
