Spring 44 606 AE The warm sun of later spring shone down, a slight breeze blowing through the town. A young man, with the final vestiges of scratches upon his face gazed up in the sky. Sheaves of parchment lay on his lap, a small tale with a quill and inkwell to his side. A sigh escaped his lips as he looked around as Dhalia walked over, setting a cup of herbal water beside him, as he gave her a small think you as she stood beside him, looking at him write over his shoulder. The past few weeks had been trying for Legarch and his goblin family. After The initial shock of the loss of one of their family members, things only tumbled downwards from there. His injuries were more numerous than they had first assumed. Eight broken ribs, fractured hip, compound fractured left arm, broken nose, right kneecap nearly shattered, the rearmost molars from his upper left, lower right and lower left jaw all missing, Dozens of cuts and lacerations upon his body and several upon his face from the Lich raking at him in rage, and some more...puzzling injuries. The Goblins had been very good about providing some care to him to fix most of his injuries. He would have died without their aid. They had managed to scrape together enough coins and sell off enough assets to buy the services of a chirurgeon versed in white magic to set his broken arm ribs, and the hairline hip fracture. However they had not enough money to pay for a complete healing, and he would have to let his body go about the process of doing that job. By all rights, his body was doing alright job after almost 3 months. However not all of his wounds could be mended. The teeth were of course utterly lost, and the lacerations needed to close and heal on their own. With some ointments, they even managed to keep the scaring down to a bare minimum. His face managed to get away with only a single, faint pale scar upon the jawline, with 5 or so of mild scars upon his arm, legs and torso. The worst among them however, was the injury to his knee. The cost, and skill to heal the shattered kneecap was beyond what they could pay, and beyond the skill of the chirurgeon. All they could do was set it, and hope for the best. The best did not seem to want to come to Legarch though. After 3 months, there seemed no chance of him being able to walk on it again, at least without the aid of crutches. The goblins had been an immense help in this respect. At least two of the sisters were always about, to help him get about, carrying him about the place and aiding him in all the ways they could. Compounding this all, was now, both Legarch and the goblins were in ‘severe’ debt. The loss of the horse and carriage, combined with the chirurgeon costs was a massive blow. It was in part, why he was not seated outside his own home. He was outside of the goblin’s little shanty. To make up for a portion of the losses, he had to abandon the thought of living in the rented property, as well as sell off three dozen of his prized books, and almost all his furniture. The goblins were also frenetic in their attempts to make money, though they were still in the red, just getting by. After he was healed enough to no longer be confined to immobility in bed, and able to sit upright, the scholar managed to start plying his trade as well. He was very lucky on that front at least, as Miss Selena had plenty of work to give him, copying various book entries for her. It was occasionally odd though, as she sometimes requested him to copy out some…rather randy short stories she was fond of collecting. He was copying out one of those novels now, with his good right arm. His left arm was almost in good condition once more, only being slightly sore, and the bone having healed enough to get some use out of it. He sighed once again as he copied the next passage, about the way the water cascading over man’s body made the merrow protagonist shiver with desire. He muttered a small, slightly bitter prayer to whatever gods might be listening that he would be able to dig himself and the goblins out of this sorrowful rut they were stuck in. It had been a long time since she had been well anywhere. The mermaid had been staying close to the lakes for the past few years. It was important to practice the water based magic she had of course as well as transforming. It was rather hard to get her legs without the help of another. Although, her sisters of the sea were happy to help her, it was not the same without a male. That was why it took so very long for her to reach this point. She had yet to full master her healing magic. It had something to do with the blood in her veins that all mermaids had. She was still learning. There was one person that she knew could help her but it had been years since she first met the boy. He probably didn't even remember her. There was one way to find out, if she ran into him again. For now, Celeste was smiling as she appeared to be in a village. It had been a while since she was in a place with other people. Some were staring at her that made her blush. It was probably of her bright blue hair that fell in waves down her back. Maybe it was her tunic that was overly big on her. It was like a dress on her pale slender frame. Maybe it was the fact that she lacked shoes? She wondered if the people around her could tell what she was from just looking at her. She was not in a place that disliked her was she? Surly, it was not a place that would grab her and sell her?! Now she was little fearful of the people around her. She moved over to a little stall and looked at the woman nervously. "Excuse me... Can you tell me where I am?" The human woman looked at her curiously. It made her even more nervous for deciding to ask anyone. "Everton village, girl. Is there a reason you are barely dressed?" Celeste chuckled lightly as she looked down at the tunic. "This is all I have." Her gentle tone told the woman. The look she got before softened but she shook her head. "You should get yourself more clothes." She simply nodded and began to leave the stall. "Thank you." She told her as she continued walking to look at what other people had around here. Not that she would be able to get anything. |

Everton... A while since she'd been here. The woman scanned the streets as she looked down them. After spending a whole winter in the south she still hadn't found any of the answers she needed. Everything felt... Odd Lately... Almost distant. Even here most people seemed to sway away from her though it may have more to do with her current garment set than anything. The black leather was pulled over her, a cloak trimmed in rabbit fur. Black gloves covered the hands whenever they poked out from the sleeves. Black traveling boots covered the feet, laced up to the knee. One would say her appearance almost took on that of a nun except for the subtle differences that made clear that she was not. The golden lightbrown eyes pierced forwards into the crowds as she made her way through. She needed... More information... About a lot of things. Not that she should have had to wear this garb. In Everton... This was basically Unitist central. However, she didn't feel like stripping now. It was easier to keep ones composer when one felt it was easier to hide... The Brown leather satchel's strap crossed her chest, the bag itself leaning at her right hip. At her left, beneath the long leather were the swords hidden away. The right shoulder held a glorious black bird, her Raven Galadal. The bird decided to busy herself, playing with the one strip of white hair that stuck out across the Anubis' face, one strip out of a whole head of black was to remain wound underneath the hood. A flash of long blue hair. That was an odd colour to see on a head. Eyes slowly blinked as she took another take on the crowd. Maybe... Maybe it wasn't anything. She took a book from her bag, really just a journal of sorts, reading through it. There were a couple Scholars that lived here, most very young or recently settled, but if any of them could give new light to information then that would be a joy and a half. She closed the book just as she looked up to see the Long Blue hair again. She tilted her head in observation before closing her eyes. Goodness this partially coloured vision was a pain. Things could be distracting. An eye flicked up, partially bumping against the hood before dropping back. There were so many scents here as well... As it was in a busy town... One was familiar though. Her eyes opened again to look at the walking woman with long blue hair. That... That was a face she recognized. She'd look back and forth before walking closer half waving to try and grab attention. "Celeste? Is that you walking around with your land legs this time?" |

Celeste looked over at the shiny fruit in the baskets of the next stall. The man behind the baskets giving her a wary look. All of them probably saw her moving back and forth. Looking over everything but not buying anything. She didn't carry money after all. Not only that but she didn't mind walking anywhere or saying outside during storms. However, the man spoke to her anyway. "If you not going to buy anything, you should move along." Her head popped up as she noticed him for the first time. A slight saddened look crossed her face before she was smiling again. "I'm sorry. I hope you sell lots of your shiny fruit." She turned away from him to dash over to another stall. Her eyes lighting up at the sight of jewelry. There was even some shells here. She giggled to herself at the sight before turning to move on again. A flash of something moving caught her attention and she stopped. Looking over, she heard her name and tilted her head. The bird on her shoulder was different and made knowing who she was difficult. It wasn't until she was closer that she squealed loudly. "ANI!!!" She ran the rest of the distance and moved to hug her. A quick tight hug that made her pull back just as quick. "Hi! I was wondering if I would run into you or Nothing! How are you? What have you been up to?" Her eyes were happy to see a friend. It had been so long of it being only her, unless she was in the sea. "Where are going? Why is that hood on your head?" Her questions continued. She wondered why she was hiding her pretty ears. Her eyes glancing around him for a moment before focusing back on Animela. |

Animela was sort of startled by the quick hug but none-the-less it was over quickly. It wasn't that there was any issues with that of course but she was sort of anti-touch right now, only getting worse with time. And now... The two legged mermaid was a bundle of questions. The Anubis held her hand in a light chuckle. "I'm surprised you recognized me so quickly." She commented. Though her facial structure was very much still the same, the only other feature besides the white strip in view was the eyes... Of which last time were purple... not gold. With the first question she would look down slightly, sadness flicking across her eyes. "N-nothing and I aren't traveling together anymore..." Despite the many months, she was still heartbroken over the event. She shook her head trying to shake off the feelings that welled up, swallowed and continued. "I've currently been traveling around the world on my own. I spent the later half of winter down south and lazily made my way back up north starting the beginning of spring. You can say that I've been looking for answers. There's a couple scholars in town here that know a bit about Mamano affairs. Most of them are young but I was hoping that at least one of them would know anything." Animela moved to pull the hood off her head, revealing the length of black hair that continued down, tucked into her garments. Her ears popped up as they unducked themselves soon afterwards. "Sorry, humans ask less questions elsewhere when they think you're something else. I don't need to be drawing attention when I'm looking for answers. I suppose I forget about it at times." |

"Well... You don't look all that different." She smiled as she looked at her over. "Your eyes changed but your still Ani!" She smiled as she held her hand. Her eyes going over to the bird curiously. That was something else that was new too. Ani didn't have a bird when she met her before. Maybe it was just too cold outside for the bird? Well, maybe she just needed a friend. Nothing was so mean! Sighing, she smiled. "Well I can travel with you! Its no fun traveling alone." She smiled and looked around them. The people moving about were fine but the ones that stared made her nervous. Her eyes glanced back to see all of Ani's hair and her ears. She giggled but remembered not to touch the ears. That would be rude and Ani might not like it. "Let's go see this person then. It will give me something to do. Plus.... I think the people here don't like me looking at their stuff." She gave a pout before moving to walk next to her. "Where to?" She beamed like a big kid. It had been such a long time since she had anyone with her. Traveling was always better when someone was with you. She knew that probably as much as anyone. Smiling, she hummed as she started walking in the direction Ani decided they would go in. |

Animela smiled slightly and gave a slight chuckle. "Going from werewolf to Anubis is a pretty big change." She hesitated as the Mermaid offered up to travel with her. The large raven cocked its head, almost turning its head completely upside down in observing the blue haired girl. "Takes... the cake!... My Cake!" The woman turned her head at the Raven who ruffled it's feathers almost mocking her. "Damn that fire!" She frowned shh-ing the bird and her low croaking voiced randomness. "Galadal hush." The bird had opened its mouth again but a finger placed over the beak pressing into the chest feathers shut her up. "If that's what you want to do, I suppose you can. If you don't mind however, I'm looking for a way into this mysterious... Wonderland. I've been informed to find a Jabberwocky... Really ugly dragon beast... I do hope they look better than they did before the alterations. They only live in the Tugley woods area of Wonderland." She pulled out the paper from her satchel that a nice very informative woman had given her early last winter. She was looking over it taking in the details again. "Honestly that's what I'm trying to figure out." Animela shook her head, tucking the paper back into her bag. "It would be easier if there were some sort of directory but I don't know where any of the brains in this town live." She looked out over the crowd her ears twitching. She paused with the next remark made. "They probably just didn't want you hovering. Stand keepers can be a bit brutish towards those who just look. It's not the best way to bring in business but people keep coming back anyways." The anubis reached into her bag , touching a much smaller one pausing as she felt the 2 knots along the drawstring and pulled it out. She undid the string of the plump bag. "They don't care if you're looking though if it's obvious you have the funds. But then some of them will start bothering you or showing you things that you don't really want so I prefer to keep mine hidden." She split the top of the clinking cloth, the inside filled with silver coins. "Silver is the most common coin used for buying things but Copper cents are often used for smaller things while gold for the much bigger. Platinum is the best but you'd need a really big order for it to be of any use. This is just one of my silver bags." Her tone had hushed... Not really wanting to draw attention. "Don't eat the baby!" Well.. That was a fail. Her face paled in a look of 'what the hell?' looking back at the bird who had lifted herself in a crouch wings ruffled. "...You..!... you!" The damn squawking bird was being a nuisance. Animela set her jaw looking in the direction that the bird was 'pointing'... and apparently being helpful. There could be spotted one of the Goblins running around bearing a Scholar's mark. "Oh! She drew the string on the bag, grabbing the mermaid by hand with the string held between them and ran towards the goblin, dragging girl behind her. "Miss!" |

Not far off from where he was sitting, he spotted the odd sight. Well, not THAT nod, but enough to catch your eyes. The blue flash of hair in the crowd near the various stalls was quite a contrast to the more common earthy, or golden coloured hair of the people he knew about town. Curious. Was she of monster stock? Or maybe some sort of arcane practitioner? She seemed to find someone in the crowd, a hooded figure. He wondered what her business was, somewhat offhandedly. Next to him, Dahlia had noted his lack of writing, and his stare. She looked where he did, before smirking and giving him a little elbow jab to the side that made him wince slightly. “Ogling the pretty ladies when you should be scribing?” she asked, moving in front of him, leaning forwards to chide him. “Dahlia, I’m not ogling, just observing.” “Trying to get a peep of something like a pervert?” ”Says the one that is giving a flash of her chest?” he quipped, glancing down at the hint of the goblins chest that was shown off as she leaned forwards. Likely not the brightest thing for him to say, as the shyest of the goblins flushed a pinkish hue, and gave him a solid punch to his good arm, rattling his whole body and sending a jolt of pain through his still very tender parts, making him cry out very loud in pain as the goblin frowned at him. “Ghaaaahh!!!! Gods be damned Dahlia watch it with those punches! I was only joking!” His eyes flitted back at the two folks, seeing that they were now running in his direction, after a very quick and chipper Poppy, who had another large delivery of books and notes for him to scribe and copy in the makeshift bag she made from one of his old cloaks. "What the..how did Poppy snag them behind her?" he muttered, Dahlia shrugging her shoulders a bit, however her body tensed in defense as the unknown figures approached on them fast. They entire little tribe had gotten much, much more protective in the last few weeks, in good reason. |

Celeste looked curiously at Animela. "Jabberwocky? Wonderland?" She had never heard of such places or things. It left her confused but maybe that was why Animela wanted to find it. Then her mind stopped for a moment. "Your an Anubis now?!" She found herself looking over her friend again. Why had she not noticed? Probably because she was just too happy to see her again. So she just shrugged because it didn't matter what she was as long as she helped her find her... jabber jabber...thing. She watched as Ani explained money to her and nodded. "So I need those coins to buy things. I find things like that in the sea, at the bottom. Is it the same?" She quieted into a fit of giggles at the bird talking. She yelped in surprise as she was being pulled. "Ani! Ani... wait!" She ran with her even though running was not something she was used to at all. "What's going on?!" Her eyes noticing the little goblin in front of them. Why were they after her? Him? A loud cry made her look around Animela to the sound. There was someone sitting there, in the distance. Is that where they were running off too? Her legs were trembling from the use of them like this. However, she struggled to keep up and Ani pulling her helped a great deal. |

"It's a very long story but I'll tell you later." Animela nodded to herself in confirmation and continued on with the next mindframe. "Of the things normally found in the sea that are in those stalls... actually yes. Finding things and reselling is a common practice among merchants. People ship the objects in from all over the world. Other things are made by other people and sold by the merchants after the merchants buy them for a stock price. I have my coins because I'd skin what I hunted and put them through a leathering process. I sold what I didn't need. If you need anything though don't hesitate to ask me. I can spare the coins, I don't use them often." That was the end of that conversation at least. Ani! Ani... wait! What's going on?! The anubis slowed down slightly but still kept a faster pace. "That goblin has a Scholar's mark!" She explained pointing at the meandering Poppy who was heading towards the unfortunate male being guarded by anot...? He had let out a pained yelp as his 'Guard' punched him. She paused a moment but the Goblin was still heading towards him. "Okay I think that Goblin might be some sort of helper. Either the other one is the scholar or the male is. He looks pretty... Lots of hurt. Must be some abusive relationship." She hesitated but continued on in their direction getting closer and closer until... |
