Y 606, Spring the 10th Gods it was hot. Other places still had the slight chill breeze of a barely newborn spring. Not this place. Not in the day, at least. Those where the only two things this hellhole had to offer; Hot days and cold nights. This was his third day out in the deadzone. The man who wore his ears proudly, and whose tails stuck out from under the trail of his coat, walked slowly in the hot sand, barefoot, his shoes had worn out a day ago. He didn't mind. He had thick soles from running around barefoot the majority of his life before setting out on his grand adventure. His first lover, in fact, despised shoes and all but demanded that he never wear them in her presence. He smiled fondly, despite his otherwise heat-soured mood. 'Ahh, Pounce...' he thought, his purple eyes sparkling with memories of the past. He bared his left are and looked at the tattoo he had done of her. "Beautiful as always..." he said softly to himself, as he used a little of his magic to make her hair sway in the wind. Even though the tattoo was an actual ink tattoo, he could still manipulate the pigment slightly with his body magic. Seeing the hair move made his spirits rise, and he haulted the spell to continue walking. After about an hour, he paused and looked around and spotting the little stone hole he had called home for the past few days. Ducking into the small shadow to rest he looked out in awe at the utter desolation and sighed. "What the absolute fuck did I come out here for?" he snarled, wishing he could make his Neko-ears drop in as he frowned, suddenly at a complete loss as to what to do with himself in this place... |

He had finally took a road threw the deserted like lands it seemed. The barren zone was going to be probably his next step when it came down to his seemingly long voyage. Though even with all his training, and ability to be. He still felt a little homesick away from the wet sea. Of course this came from his own time spent with his father sailing. The trading world was good for that. Though he wouldn't be able to even procure a camel or anything at this rate. Not that it mattered. He loved walking and that was that. His hair would often flop around with the winds gusts. Flapping its blond colour like a flag in the wind. Then fall back onto his backpack which held so much of his goods. He had to pull his hair out from under it this time, if nothing else then to help get some cool air. He had prepared quite well for this trip, wearing beige colours in order to blend in, while keeping a light hat on to make sure he didn't burn the top of his head in the sun. To even think, such a day would be considered spring to some people. He had brought and purchased water in different carrying containers. In order to be sure he would go dehydrated, among other things to make sure his journey threw this barren land would be more interesting, and less...well hoping to run into a village. His silver gaze looked over the horizon before him, the shade from his hat at least providing the needed protection from the sun above with his blond hair occasionally blocking his visions with the occasional gust. “Well, this should prove to be quite the trip.” He stated to himself, knowing breaks would occur...it was probably best if he traveled at night more then the day. Though so many would advise against it, he would much rather deal wit the cold then a deadly heat. Though there were other troubles. He stopped for a moment, allowing his hair to fly past him fluttering before him as he looked to the sides. Searching for a good location to possibly rest for the moment. He looked to himself to laugh slightly as it seemed he would probably have glowed on the landscape, his pale skin though covered mostly by the beige long sleeve, would have more appeared very white in contras. “Well if anything, the sand will eventually dirty up my hands..” He took off his backpack for a moment, placing it on the ground. To open up the top with a rather interesting pull on a cord. He brushed off the sand that had accumulated on the item. Then pulled out a skin pouch which he took off the cover and put to his lips. Allowing the water to come out with a light squeeze. There were, to say the least a various amounts of containers in there at the moment, among his other attire he brought with him for traveling at night if he decided to switch up his walk. Much like he planned to. Looking at his ax and bow he just sighed. “Well, the only thing I could hunt here would probably be with the bow..but i'll keep the ax close by I guess for now.” he stated as he took the backpack back up to his side and onto his shoulders and back. The bow hanging from it with the arrows quiver in the pack as well. He attached his ax to his waist in a loop as to give him ease of use if need be. “Lets see...maybe it would be best if I keep heading west? Well i'll need to see if there is any town in this place. At least with that I can get an assessment on pricing.” He mumbled to himself as he looked around for any real landmarks he could use. |

Stetson just glared out of his shaded spot, listening to the breeze and watching the occasional sand lizard. He resisted the urge to chase them, mostly succeeding... Mostly. There was a lizard about ten paces away. It was between sixteen and twenty inches long, mottled grey, brown and orange, almost completely invisible against the sand. In fact, if not for the fact that he saw it's shadow moving, Stetson would have missed it. He stared at it as it moved in it's slow lizardly fashion, looking around to avoid predators. It knew it was being hunted. 'Good...' Stetson thought to himself, as he slowly and silently pulled off his coat. The lizard turned it's head and locked it's primitive eyes on the Furry. They both froze, barely breathing. The lizard in mid-step, Stetson with his coat hanging to his body only by the fingers that the fabric was held between. The breeze blew harder and caught the coat, making it flutter slightly and the lizard ran. With lightning reflexes, Stetson kicked off after the creature, keeping his body low and pumping his legs. He chased for the better half of five minutes before pouncing - literally full-on, air-borne pouncing - at the lizard and grasping it with both hands. The lizard spun and twisted before finding an unlucky finger and biting down on it, sharp reptilian teeth ripping into skin just enough to be painful as a papercut. "Fucking thing!" he yelled, releasing the lizard and watching as it skittered off. Standing up, he wiped his finger off on a stone before sticking it in his mouth and sucking hard before spitting a healthy glob of spit, dirt and blood onto the ground. It was a good habit to have when bitten by unknown creatures, especially lizards. As he turned back in the direction of his coat, he caught movement of a larger sort in the corner of his eye. Looking, he saw it was a man. Human. Long hair... he purred... Hansom fellow. "Oi!" he called, cupping his hands around his mouth to make his voice travel. "I thought I was the only person dumb enough to be out here!" he grinned, casually checking his ears to make sure they were still attached firmly after the chase; they were. This was good. Interaction. He admitted to himself being a little starved of it as he ran to his hole, grabbed his coat, and flung it over his shoulder before walking towards the new face. "What brings y'out here, friend?" he said with a casual sway to his feline step, which added a curious-looking wag to his tails as they swung unhindered by his coat. |

Before he was able to really move on he was greeted by what seemed to be a rather interesting “oi” with a turn to see the person before him. He merely thought person for a moment for he didn't fully know what they were. Of course, they talked seemingly normal enough. But his, at least he came to that conclusion, the man before him seemed to have a rather interesting selection of attire. Or maybe it was just a neko of the day? He couldn't honestly state it. Though he wasn't about to judge this person to harshly off the bat. It was more then obvious he was probably out here as well. And his choice of words played well into him thinking over he dreaded the place. Though how long had he been out here he wondered? “Ahh,” Charles began politely as he pushed his hair from his face. “How are you traveler? Indeed it seems we may be the only two people for quite the distance. Do tell me, if I may ask, what brings you to the desert?” He asked inquisitively while thinking over a potential need this man may have. At the moment, he wasn't about to go trying to sell this man anything. Hell he wouldn't take anything from some random stranger in the dessert either when it came to selling. Though he didn't know how this man was. Hell, from a distance if it wasn't for him talking he could have possibly came off as somewhat female. “I myself am more here on wanderlust. I tend to enjoy seeing new places, discovering new things and the like. It's always been an interest of mine.” he applied a truth masked with some minor lies. True he did enjoy travel, but the whole purpose of the journey was to learn about things and people. Not so much wanderlust. Merely a ritual his father believed he needed to do. He pulled out his water skin pouch and held it before him. “Are you thirsty? I'm sure the Malhara Barrens aren't the most forgiving when it comes to these things.” He didn't mind sharing water, he had more then enough he was sure. And if need be he could figure out many other means to dealing with a lack of water supplies and food. They could always drink the blood of certain creatures. May not be the best way, but it's there. And certain cactus were good too. Of course...finding a port of any sort would be marvelous. He tilted up his hat as to look into the purple eyes of the man before him. "As soon as I figure out why I'm out here, you'll be the first to know." he responded semiflat, running the back of his hand over the side of his hair in a mock face-cleaning movement that served little more function than wiping a bit of sweat off his brow. "I guess you could call my own issues a bit of wanderlust... Dunno, hones'ly. Jus' felt the need t'get lost in the sand." he said looking towards the sun. "Found me a lot of sand... Ain't much gettin' lost. I know my way about things too well for that, it seems." warm musing tones rolled from his throat in a sort of song. "Anyways, I nearly caught me'a lizard, but the bastard bit me plum on the knuckle and ran off. Must've thought I was gonna eat it or sommin'. Silly thing, really." "I make a point of knowing a mans name before I drink of his water. That said, a drink would be shiny, mate, and I wouldn't turn it down." he said, "The names Stetson, by the way. You can call me Stet if you'd like. Also go by Mrrow-mow, or just Mow." the last ones had a feline quality that were unmistakable, and sounded like they would take a good amount of practice to get right. "An' if you haven't noticed yet, I'm a bit of an oddity." he gestured to his ears and tails nonchalantly "But you're out here in the ass-crack o'Hell yourself, so maybe we are more kindred than not, hm?" |

The man did bring up a truth. He hadn't introduced himself, however he would rather blame the sun for his rudeness on that part. “Ahh, true enough. I'm sorry for my rudeness, the heat may have already got to me. My name is Charlemagne Silverflame. I'm a sort of merchant. Well not at the moment, but i'm part of a family that is.” He didn't see the point in hiding tonnes of information. If anything this man could be of interesting use. He listened lightly to his sound hum. “I'll have to call you Stet, or Stetson. I don't have the ability to appropriately use your other names without much insult to it.” He stated kindly. Oddity huh? Maybe that was the truth in it all. It wasn't everyday a random man would just walk around for no reason other then to walk around. Wanderlust itself would probably come off as so. But if they could get to a town maybe? He wasn't sure. He still kept his hand out for Stet to take it. He wasn't about to turn down an offer he set up. And of course, all the prerequisites were made. “So do you know if there is a town nearby? I don't mind traveling, that's not the issue. Just wondering if there was any towns or abandoned ones around. Preferably with beings in it. But we can't get all we want.” His kindness didn't stop, “if you are hungry I could also offer you some food. No need to worry about it. I have brought more then enough, and worse case we can always just hunt down that lizard of yours once more.” He with a slight smirk on his face. Stet wasn't bad looking for a man, which made him wonder why he was out here even more. He was sure, even with his seemingly odd attire..he would be able to get any women he would wish for. There was probably something more behind it...or maybe he was out here for her? The possibilities could go on. It was best to keep his mind set on a goal. And for now, it was to know if there was any town at all within the area. He had more then enough food to last him a journey and a half. But dried food would eventually lead to the want of more living based food. Regardless, it's just how rations went. He looked about for a moment, keeping an eye on the landscape around them. The endless winds of the desert not really holding off for their meeting either. It would probably be interesting to see if there was anything here worth seeing. Worse case, maybe Stet knew of a port. He'd take the man with him if need be. Company wasn't likely to be hated...so long as they don't try anything. Odd or not. |

"Charlemagne..." he said, rolling the name on his tongue. "Shiny." he said with a smile reaching out to take the mans hand in a most peculiar way; with his wrist angled down and thumb wrapped around his as if about ready to engage him in an arm wrestle, grasping tightly, then releasing to make a motion at the waterskin. "If it pleases, I'll take that drink now. All I've had is cactus juice, an' truth be told that ain't the best for ya." Stet thought about the question of a town... "I ain't seen a lively one up close, but if my sense of direction 'n memory is any good; I spied a settlement of some sort umm, 'bout three kilometers that way? Personally kept my distance 'cuz I don't know the area, but between the two of us we should be able to figure out any mess that exists there." he explained, shifting his coat to drape over his shoulders, the chains in his pockets making a tell-tale sound. "You know how to fight, or those toys just for looks?" |

Interesting, he thought to himself as Stet decided to hold to his hand for a moment before taking the water. He wasn't really going to go out of his way to bother trusting him. However, for the moment I would be best to figure out the situation between them. He looked at Stet as he asked him about his fighting ability. After talking about an area he didn't go since he didn't want to risk anything to serious. Not a bad plan, with both of them there should be a better chance, but Charles knew more then everyone he wasn't like the grander soldier. He was trained to survive, and to say the least he was good with the bow and ax. To say he was the best at them would be way to far out. He knew what he needed to do in order to survive. That was what he was trained, which included killing bandits and whatever else that threatened to get in your way. “You can call me Charles, less of a mouthful,” he put in his smirk on his face saying it was fine. “Well over all, I know how to survive. If I need to I can fight and kill.” He wasn't per say blooded, but it wasn't like he cared to much about the living as it was. “Just don't expect to much soldier hero stuff. I'm no hero. I'm a son of a merchant and sailor” he said with a light laugh after wards. He looked to the guesstimate location. “three kilometers huh? Well that's about 1 hour or so I would assume in traveling...” he stated, looking around. “So it may be more of a trouble spot is what you are thinking.” he stated moving his hair from his face once more. The wind's drafts often sending his hair everywhere. |

The catboy grabbed the skin and took a healthy - but not healthy enough to be rude - swig before pressing it back into Charles' hand. "Charles it is, then." he said with a wink and a half-grin. "An' wouldn't that be sommin'? Us, a couple big damn heroes... Ha!" it was a genuine laugh "Nah, Jus' making' sure I'm not the only one rollin' heads should the need come. It's a lot easier t'watch your back if I know my own ain't bare-ass-naked, y'know?" he explained "Just a manner of logic, o'course. Watchin' your back means I'm the first to know if you plan to stab me in mine. No offence." he winked again, turning to walk towards where he had pointed. |

Charles smiled, taking the animal skin container and placing it on a holder on his backpack. “Well,” he responded with a light chuckle “It makes sense in the end. We have only met. Though I guess we'll have to rely on one other for now.” He didn't take any offense from Stet, in fact he was rather surprised he thought that way. Not many would even take the bottle then state something like that. But in the end, they were the only two living beings it seemed in this area. He made sure to follow him by his side that was, as to not stay behind looking odd. Mindful enough about his own hair hitting his current companion, thus making sure he was on a side that didn't call for a sort of hair whiplash. “So, are you going to be more close range? I know we don't generally get to choose our battles, and i'm good with either. Just wondering how we should play this out if we have to ambush, or take down something.” He asked, it was for a change as honest as he could be. He hadn't seen this man fight, so knowing his preference could help them a great deal in the future should the need arise in combat. More so that they both understood that should push come to shove they wouldn't think twice about retreating in order to survive that was. Quite the smart tactic for survivors, often looked down on by heroes and knights. But that's just how things seemed to play out. They use honor and die, and people who survive use other means and live. “I think our best luck would be to hope if there is nothing moving around there, to look for a good place to set up as our resting area. Out of the sunlight. I was thinking of trying to travel by night. What are your thoughts? It may be cold, but if anything we may be able to travel longer. So long as we have the right equipment and the like.” He figured, he may as well talk while they were walking to a potential fight. It would ease there minds possibly...and maybe get them on more appropriate terms. |
