Out of Dragon Princess' tower and back to the crossroads, the crippled knight heads straight towards Mimic Princess. Aware of her Wonder Chest, he knows it'll come in handy to store all that treasure, so he pulls all the determination he can muster and prepares himself to face the-- OH SHIT, DRAGON KNIGHT!! Flinching the instant he catches sight of the beast he turns tail and flees back to the crossroads. He's panting when he gets there, feeling in his bones the wear of the first fight upon a body long past it's prime. Looking around, the other knights nowhere to be seen, he can only pray that there's still time for him. Still filled with dread from the sight of Dragon Knight, he decides to make his alternate choice be Knight Princess. Humans truly shine when in numbers, he thinks, and as things are he might need all the help he can gather. Wary, he approaches the tower, keeping his eyes peeled for whoever might be guarding this tower...

Escaping the perspective of the kobold knight, a rather flushed Legarch looks about the table. "Well...I can see why rescuing the princesses is part of the goal....but it seems like there is something more to it." he said, realizing that the kobold knight often thought of its kingdom, and the safety of its people, even whilst rescuing his people's princess. "Is there.....is there reasoning, or boons to be gained by rescuing more than one princess?" he asked, noting that at least one other at the table seemed to already be heading to another tower,

-----------------------

After a long rest with his Princess, the Kobold Knight wakes from his pleasant dreams, the princess still huddled up against him. Smiling, he licked at her cheek, gently waking her. "Time to wake Princess. We cannot just stay in the tower. We must go lest the dragon might make its way near here sometime soon." he said, flicking back down his helm over his face, his massive crossbow over his shoulder, as he offered a hand to the lady to help her to her feet.

The master would nod to Legarch. "If you so desire...you may rescue other princesses. However, after an unknown amount of time, the towers will collapse. Gaining a second or even third princess may expand your future kingdom. But you must be wary, as it will entail more danger the more you rescue. And...if you so wish...you may seek out the dowries located within their towers. Time of course, is still of the essence."
______________

Nodding, the princess took hold of her knight, and together, they would bound forth from the window on a rope of braided scales...she had a great deal of time and decided to weave one. How does one weave scales you ask? I have no idea. You'd have to ask her.

Legarch nodded to the narrator. He could not just let sit by and let the other princesses be left to their fate in the towers. Though, that begged the question..did the other knights also rescue their princesses? Perhaps they would all be saved by other knights? Well, he could at least do his part in saving the Princesses he could. "Right, I'll take that to heart." he said. He wanted to ask what was meant by 'future kingdom', but that would waste at the time he was given. It seemed that there were no 'turns' being taken, and the towers would collapse whenever a real time limit was reached. He had to be quick. He dived back down, his perspective switched to the kobold knight.....

------

....who was befuddled when the princess showed him what looked like a scale rope that was...'braided' together somehow. he went down the rope first, having to drop down the remaining five or so feet, with the Kobold princess following after. He got quite the spectacular view of her bottom as she went down the rope, and he caught her as she dropped the remaining distance. "There, I got you princess." He said, before gazing at the other nearby towers.

"I'm sure you want to be rid of this place as soon as possible, but I cannot just leave these others in the towers to their fate." he said, as there was a rumble that shook the ground. He looked amongst the towers, and something in his mind told him which tower to go to. "We need allies as well. The kingdoms are in an uproar from what I hear, and conflict might come to our mountainhome without some help." He explained to her, taking her hand in his and walking with her to the tower. "I believe we will find an ally in that tower. Please forgive me for not taking you home as soon as possible Princess."

Inside the tower, Martyr Knight is met with an unexpected sight: dozens of tired-looking knights, whose visors turn to face him almost in sync. They received the intruder somewhat aggressively (as if they weren't intruders themselves), but explained that they exhausted themselves triggering all the traps of the tower and the rest of them are upstairs trying to save 'the true princess', as they call her. The title that Knight Princess was given by their fan-club leaves a sour taste in his mouth for some reason.

Martyr offers to help whoever he can up the stairs, but they all decline, moping about just getting in the way. Gosh, he's not in condition to lift those spirits... and to make matters worse, they actually object when he tells them he'll go upstairs assist the others. Now that's just pissing him off, so he informs he'll leave it up to the knights upstairs to decide. Some try to stop the knight, but they're all so tired that a simple shove makes them fall on their rear end. Taking too long to get back up, the veteran knight gets to the next floor before they can do anything.

The same story repeats itself, another more dozens of knights not the slightest receptive to his presence. This time they're just sitting around, some tending the wounded among their numbers. He gets explained that their chosen commander, the princess' second-in-charge, just got upstairs and is going to bring her back soon, so the rest of them are just standing on guard. Most expected, they're skeptical when the newest visitor offers to go assist the guy, but Martyr heaves an annoyed sigh when they refuse to escort him upstairs and would rather duel him before he can pass. Explaining that time is short and soon the towers might collapse doesn't phase many of the able-bodied ones, either because they couldn't care less for the other princesses or just because they don't trust him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Player-Maxwell glances at Nothing for a moment there. "... Do I act like that in the real world? Chief God, I hope I don't..." he shakes his head.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It takes several duels, but eventually Martyr Knight rises triumphant... but of course, that small victory comes not without consequences. The living legend held back as not to arouse any unwanted causalities while his opponents, even if awfully inexperienced by comparison, did not. Not only is he past his prime, but also beyond exhausted from over-exerting himself near the end of the fight against Tribal Knight.

While dragging himself up the stairs, Martyr Knight has the lingering feeling their elected commander will be just as unreasonable as the others...

"Oh no" Nothing responded. "You are MUCH worse. Always talking about truth and justice and duty and such. Its honestly the fourth most annoying thing I've ever heard"

"Makes me wonder what the three worst things are..." Maxwell side-glances at Nothing warily. "... But yeah.. I guess I'll take mental note to tone down the preaching a bit. There's nothing wrong with being driven to seek the benefit of others over yourself, though. It's when people are so blindly impervious that it gets cumbersome..." he grumbles, but shortly after finishing that last sentence he sort of just sinks back in his seat.
_________________________________________________________________________

Martyr Knight, Knight Princess and four of her most trusted men at arms exited the tower together. The rest of her band were ordered to raid the tower of all its valuables before returning to their kingdom proper. Back at the crossroads, it is now time to decide the next tower to tackle, but in his weary state he can't really be as picky as he wished. Sincerely, he's actually kinda hopeful Kobold and Dragon Knights are going to bump into him while he's not on the move. There's a proposition he wishes he had brought up since the beginning...

"So," Princess knight began. "You said you wanted to rescue other princesses right?"

"Indeed. Even if I can't escort everyone back to their kingdoms, taking them outside of the towers should at the very least buy them some more time. One princess or another might be from a kingdom experienced in combat, so if we could convince them to stick together they should be fine until their kingdoms can come fetch them." The weary knight explains, hopeful, while watching the ancient buildings in the distance.

"Yes...about that" Princess knight would look at him seriously. "Perhaps going around to rescue 'all' of the princesses isn't the best idea. Consider for a moment what will happen if-" "when" "when the towers fall, thank you Rodrick" "no trouble ma'am" "The kingdoms without their princesses saved will be in a state of disarray. Having lost the symbol of their future and hope the kingdoms will be soon fall to civil war and infighting. And when that happens well, WE will be able to step in and... bring order to these lands."

"Think of it, a kingdom stretching all the way from the canopy cave to the cold and dark. And WE will be the only ones with the will and fortitude to grasp hold of it."

"... Are you saying you're not even willing to try?" that's when he turns towards Knight Princess, staring into her visor through his. "Are you saying you're willing to discard other lives to rule over the rest?" he inquires, the hold on his sword shaking unsteadily.

When he looked at her like that it was so...unnerving. Unable to make eye contact as she rubbed the back of her neck. "I'm just saying...conquest would be much easier if that were the case. It's not like it'd be so terrible. They're all monsters anyway." "What about human princess" "DAMN IT PERCIVAL! WE DO NOT! TALK! ABOUT HER!" She had begun grinding her teeth, fists clenched. She seemed ready to strike Percival for a moment...then drew herself back. "Sorry. Just...sorry."

Martyr makes a short pause, letting Knight Princess catch her breath and listen up to him again. "... Do not discriminate those which you do not understand. Most of them are monsters, yes, but not all of them are in the sense of the word we're accustomed to. More so, they don't have to be."

Stepping closer, he rests an arm on her shoulder, his voice taking an almost fatherly tone. "If you allow me to quote a former Pirate Queen, 'Even the most barnacle-encrusted oyster can still yield a pearl if you feed it a grain of sand'. Now, doesn't that sound silly? Heheheh, but the message is wiser than it seems... what she meant to say was, even someone you may judge as a monster may show to be reliable if given a chance to prove their worth. Now, I'm not saying you can trust just about anyone, that's taking the other extreme of the stick. Please do me a favor and don't do that to yourself." he chuckles lightly, letting go of her shoulder and clearing his throat as he regains his previous posture.

"Now... the easier route is not always the most honorable. The 'wisest' is not always the most correct. A true knight may not hesitate to stain their gloves, but will refrain from doing so if they can help it. And you know there's a better path to take, as hard to tread as it is."

"These people need a consensus, not a sovereign to rule one and all. Were it not for all the strifes making everyone tackle one another... Even when a common enemy arises, it's astonishing how banding together is not as intuitive an attitude as it should be." he shakes his head. "... No. I've mulled it over for years now, it'll be more beneficial in the long run for everyone involved to earn the kingdoms' favor than usurp them."

Her eye twitched at his statements. They all seemed sound but...ugh. Why were they so infuriating! Like she was being talked down to. "Look, if you want to rescue other princesses that's fine...but if that's the case then I want to pick em, ok?"

"It's only fair, I was actually intent on letting you choose the order and merely give suggestions. Even if we reach our limit before rescuing everyone, at the very least you'll rest assured: you'll have done a grand, noble feat. Now, uhh..." he rubs the back of his helmet. "I can tell my tone rubbed you in the wrong say. My apologies, Brother in Arms." he bows his head briefly.

"...Boy princess" she said flatly. However it seemed that deep within her eyes, stars had blossomed

"... Oh. Fine then!" he nods, smirking lightly. "For that one I'll merely be your follower and help however I can so you'll reach the top of the tower. But first... I actually want to prove to you what I said about not all 'monsters' being monsters. If you ever doubted me, I want to cut that evil by the root." he asserts, readjusting his stance to not make it so cane-dependent.

With the Goblin Princess, and Kobold Princess now in tow, the Kobold knight smiled. While there was a mild bump in the road, things might just be looking up soon, seeing as the Goblin Princess agreed to be along with them. He pondered for a bit as they walked along. He had time enough for at least a princess more, at least he thought as much. Whilst his kingship amongst the monsters was assuredly more stable now, his relationship with the often tall, and mighty human armies would likely suffer tremendously. Humans already had such great disdain for what they called 'lesser' and 'monstrous' beings

Perhaps he needed to solidify relations with the humanoids more? Yes, that would be good....but he somewhat dreaded what Kobold and Goblin princess might think of another woman, let along a human female joining in upon the growing cadre of princesses. What possible way could he alleviate this? He pondered about, thinking what sort of Princesses he had heard had been kidnapped in the region. Wait...there was one that would fit the bill. It was not the most savory idea, but he turned down a nearby path, and started to make his way along, heading in the direction of the one known as the Boy Princess's Tower.
