Sometimes there were just things you had to do in order to get ahead. Indeed, this was one of them; this was a sneaky, underhanded little thing to do considering his new job, but hell, he'd been a freelancer at heart for years. And besides, this was a personal project, not something for the Imperial State. Tyren Helios was not morally clean, and had his own burdens to bear-- but this was taking it to a whole new level.

The Strike Noir had just made its landing in Side 4's civilian hangar, having caught a transport ship all the way to the colony in order to find one person out of thousands of the millions who lived and worked there. Indeed, he was searching for a particular group, one person above them all; a member of the black-market weapons group Lucifer's Armory, and one of their technicians in particular, a man named Ottah. This guy, apparently, was their best tech, and knew his way around junked Mobile Suits.

This time, Tyren wanted to go and find this guy, and then go wherever Ottah thought necessary for a more clandestine meeting. Clad in a black pilot suit, he carried a laptop bag under his arm; a large one, apparently, signfying that it was a big, powerful machine he had. Something that you could probably, say, design a Mobile Suit with-- and that was exactly why he needed this guy's help.

The message had been brief, asking only for a private audience (audience, yes; Tyren's message syntax was starting to sound like one of the OMIS uptight officers) in a place of his convenience, and that he'd meet him in the Side 4 hangars. From there, they could go wherever, and that he needed the help of an expert technician to disassemble and understand the Mobile Suit he was bringing, and design a more powerful model of Mobile Suit around it. Why not ask OMIS? They knew this kind of machine well.

No, Tyren had better ideas - because the best Mobile Suits were personal.

Ottah had chosen the perfect location for the little meeting with Tyren. Smack middle of the park on Side Four, out in the open and public eye. Why? Ottah didn't trust the kid of course. Plus... he could smoke outside without some idiot bitching and whining. Tonight was not the night to sit in lock up for assaulting some idiot.

Ottah waited on the park bench with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. It would probably hang there like that all night, there was no stress or major annoyances to deal with... yet. He wore his usual get up fresh from the laundry room since the crew of Lucifer's Armory finally forced him to wash it. Black long pants and a white top. No need to be fancy today since as far as he knew this kid was just coming for a consult.

Of course that wouldn't be a free consult. What kind of side business would he be running if he let every Tom, Dick, and Harry get a consult for free? He'd be out of business that was what!

Oh money... how he kept his money secure. Tyren wasn't going to be an idiot about it, and now that he knew where he had to go, he went straight there. Yeah, trust the black market guys to play it safe. But was out in the open really the best place to be talking about building a Mobile Suit, let alone disassembling one? They'd probably have to move later. Whatever. His brain was kicking into over-think mode, and that was definitely a bad thing.

At this point, Tyren debated walking to where he had to be, but he didn't know his way around Side Four. No, he was a resident of Three-- ex-resident, now-- and knew that well enough, but it would be smarter to have someone take him to where he needed to go. Yeah, catch the taxi to the park, get out, find this dude. Easy as pie, after he fished out just that little bit of cash as payment for the minor service. It wasn't a long ride, at least; just ten minutes or so.

And there he was, sitting on the bench. In contrast to Ottah, Tyren had removed his pilot suit now and left it in Strike Noir now that he knew he wasn't going to be going anywhere else. Simple black T-shirt, jeans, and looking his usual imposing self with his gold-tipped hair, he was... well, he was Tyren. A strange sort of person.

"Ottah?" he asked as he approached the bench, nodding. "Tyren Helios. I trust this isn't too much of an inconvenience?"

Ottah grinned and stood as Tyren approached. "Pleasure to meet ya, Tyren. Of course it is an inconvenience, but thats the fun of it. Oughta piss my boss right off." Ottah was rather... happy at that thought. Odd for a guy to enjoy that.

"So hey, lets get down to business shall we. I'm sure we both have shit to get back to, superiors to bitch us out." Dents in walls to fix... Daniel sure was being lazy with that bulkhead he dented. Eh well. Ottah motioned for Tyren to take a seat on the bench before sitting down himself. They could discuss some of the stuff in the open before moving to a more secluded area. He still didn't trust the guy.

"Sounds good."

Well, getting on the bad side of a boss was a bad thing when they were the ones paying you... but whatever floated this guy's boat, really. Tyren wasn't about to argue the semantics of losing income streams when he was the one paying up for this. Yeah, best to stick to the point and not say anything totally dumb.

Instead, took a seat on the bench next to Ottah, unzipping the laptop bag which was placed at his feet; Tyren flipped out his laptop and powered it up, resting it on his knees and decided that, while it booted up, he could explain the preamble.

"Under most circumstances I'd take this to OMIS techs, but I don't trust them yet and they don't trust me, I bet. But that's what you get when you're fresh outta freelance. Short and sweet - they use a lot of technology I'm not familiar with, mostly revolving around the quantum computer. I was hoping you knew something about this kinda thing and could help me crack open my Mobile Suit."

Illegal? Hell yes. Military secrets? Not so much. Quantum computers weren't only from Mars, but it still technically didn't belong to him-- but whatever.

"And then maybe you can help me design a more advanced Mobile Suit from it."

Ah quantum computers... the bane of everyone not genetically modified. "Congrats kid, you got yourself a useless peice of junk. Only way you're gonna be able to handle that suit is if you find someone to rip that computer out and reprogram the system." Not much hope for the suit for the kid. Oh well, he should have looked into that before accepting an assignment with it.

"You want a better system with that you're gonna have to root through and figure out what doesn't use that quantum computer to run."

"Honestly, the QC hasn't been much of a problem. Sure, I can't really interface with some of the more advanced features, but I can still make use of... well, most of the normal functions. It's weird. Some people say I just have a talent for it, y'know?"

Or so he thought, anyway. Tyren was a pretty relaxed guy about the whole thing and he did seem to have an aptitude with the quantum computer, even if he was still just a regular old mechanic turned pilot nowadays. He was, after all, the head test pilot in the OMIS R&D squadron, and that gave him a fair bit of experience and latitude.

"Regardless, it's a pretty neat system, but the data alone won't tell you that. Did you want to take a look at the Strike E yourself?"

"Suit yourself. If you think you can work with that junk pile go ahead and try. It's your brain you're frying." Ottah dug through his pocket for his lighter. To his dismay... he left it back in his room. "Damn... Well might as well see the thing before designing something new."

"My brain's been doin' okay so far," Tyren shot back with a grin. The laptop closed again-- well, that had been a waste of time. They hadn't gone through many of the stats, but he knew most of them by rote and could just speak them at this point. Stuffed back in its bag, Tyren stood up from the bench, rolling his shoulders just a little to work out the kinks in them. Yep. He looked over to Ottah, who looked... well, a little bit disgruntled, like he was missing something. Whatever. Not Tyren's problem.

"I've left it in the third hangar. Do you have transport or would you like me to call down a taxi?"

"Don't be lazy boy. We can walk. It's not that far." Ottah was indeed going into a bad mood. No lighter, lazy kid, and a machine with a headache programmed into it. Eh well... Not much of a cure for any of those. Ottah didn't bother to ask Tyren to follow or check to see if he was keeping up. He just wanted to get this over with now so he could go back to his room... or maybe smoke in Danny boy's room to piss him off.

Point taken.

Tyren did indeed keep up, walking briskly to follow behind Ottah; he didn't actually know the direct path there having caught a taxi to wherever the instructions had told him to go, and thus was relying on the other man for instructions. And they were good; they didn't take all that long to get to the hangar, a trip that went by in silence. In actuality, Tyren's mind was processing the data involved with the Strike E; he was about to do the unthinkable and disassemble it for a black marketeer.

So much for morals and ethics, Mister Helios. Scratch that off your resume.

However, once they arrived at the hangar, Tyren led Ottah over to the machine, and even though it was inactive, it still stood in all of its black and grey resplendent glory - Strike E, wearing the Noir Striker. The Strike Noir, the fearsome machine of the Olympus Mons Imperial State's Research and Development Squad.

"GAT-X105E Strike E. Equipped with two 12.5 millimetre CIWS, four rocket anchors, two shorty beam rifles and Variable Phase Shift. Capable of equipping Another Trial Striker packs. Strike Noir increases flight capabilities and adds two beam blades, two optional beam rifles, an additional rocket anchor and two linear guns. My new pride and joy. Not quite as fast as my F91, but the armaments are interesting enough to use, not to mention the tactical flexibility it has with the AT Strikers."

Ottah was quiet the entire walk to the hangar. Luckily it wasn't that long of a walk though and the silence ended once they reached the boys new toy. Ottah looked the machine over front to back.

"Covers all basis of combat thats for sure. Okay kid, blueprints time." It would be much easier to make suggestions for changes with blueprints. The inner workings of machines were all unique, even in mass produced ones. It all boiled down to each individual part used.
