OmniCom Seems Broken... :coffee!: So what do you do if images come up missing or broken? Or if a page doesn't look like it has been constructed properly? First, before opening up a thread in the support forum to point out a possible visual bug or ask for assistance, check to see which browser you're using. The OmniCom board is mostly built using CSS3 and HTML5. We also have a lot of Javascript running in the background, providing you with access to some of our coolest features (such as the Cup o' Joe system, the comment systems for user profiles, and even sublte things like the PM notification pop-ups). Even our blog at Wordpress (Omni Labs) runs off of CSS3 and HTML5. But what does this mean to you? Well CSS3 has been out for a while now, so most modern browsers are able to fully support it. HTML5, on the other hand, is still fairly new to the web design world and every browser has difficulty providing support for every new tag in the mark-up language. Internet Explorer has the most trouble with both new web standards, and will more than likely not display much of OmniCom and Omni Labs properly. While all Javascript elements and features work in all browsers (they've been fully tested to ensure this), other visual asthetics may come out looking a little wierd. We won't make you get a new browser, as we know this is a hassle to most people. A lot of web surfers have become comfortable with the browser they've been using, and will be reluctant to change. However, if you wish to view OmniCom and Omni Labs as they should be viewed, then we recommend switching to Chrome or Opera. These two browsers support the most of CSS3 and HTML5, and can render the Javascript features at a faster rate. If you encounter the same bug on more than two or three browsers, then please feel free to report the problem in this forum. We'll be sure to tackle it as soon as we can. ;) |
