It was a sunny Friday afternoon, or maybe it was monday? Nikkum completely lost track of time while thinking hard - all his life he tried to avoid aligning himself with any of fighting masses in the world. Not that he hated violence or fighting, on the contrary - he LOVED the scent of battle - the joy, the blood, EVERYTHING! (except for loosing, he hated that) One of reasons why he did not want to "sign" himself up for any side it that then he would be forced to listen to others' orders (he hated that). Whole week he spend fighting his inner demons, trying to prove to self that there is no other way - "that" or dying in uneven fight versus unknown enemy. By "that" he meant joining the marine ranks, starting from lowest step, trying to climb higher, doing dirty and humiliating tasks - it was all included. Final decision was not easy, but it was made - Ragnar packed all his stuff, or what was left after marines conducted throughout search of his humble hut. And so he was cruising through busy city streets, his trusty axe in one hand and bag in another, although there was a lot of people cruising around, Nikkum did not need to worry - every person moved out of his way. It was really convenient to be larger then average man, not many people had any complains to him like ever, but that is not the point. He had his small head full of thoughts, if he had to try to avoid passengers, he would overheat and... hurt some people. However, as Nikkum was around market square he bumped into someone, who on earth would not move out of his way? Some crazy guy who wants to die? Time to went out his head and punch some brain into this moron. There there no one in front of him, he tries to walk, but foot gets caught onto something. "WHAT THE CURSED PIG HELL IS GOING ON HERE!!" - shouted in his mind viking and looked down ( looking down was common). And there he saw - a boy, about six years old, brown hair and green eyes, which seemed that like it could burst out with tears any moment. "I can't hit kids, or can I?" - this situation completely confused Ragnar, before even he could decide on what to do next (or punch/kick), boy spoke with bitter tears on his cheeks: "Have you *sob* seen my cat, mister? *sob*" Nikkum stared at this boy not knowing what to say, he has seen a lot of cats today, but he does not know if any of those cats were his. Yes, he could ask, but does he have time to listen little kids crying and blabbering? HELL NO! Besides he has never cried when he was still a kid, that is really annoying, how even man can cry? Men are tough and strong, not cry babies! "Kid, stop crying and go looking for your cat." with those hard words Ragnar pushed kid aside and continued his journey without looking back. While kid stood there sobbing and cleaning his tears. Marine base, there it stood, tall and mighty bastion of peace and order. Nikkum took deep breath and stepped inside, strangely but gate guards let him in without much of noise, on other hand he was here with official business. Once he entered someone called: "Excuse me, what business you have in Logue town marine base?" Ragnar slowly turned head and looked at man sitting behind reception table, marine was in his forties, with mustache and small beard. "HEY I'M TALKIN TO YOU!" - shouted impatiently receptionist. Viking slowly creed over him and shouted back: "I AM HERE TO JOIN MARINES, BASTARD!" "Hahaha do you think that we accept every person who enters through these doors? Take this fill it out and wait till you are called." - marine puts a signing form in front of Nikkum. But he only bluntly looks at it not understanding what old man wants from him. Somehow marine figures out what is going on, or what was not going in Ragnar's head: "Sweet, another illiterate moron, where you even come from... just sit and wait." Marine waited for new recruit to sit and left through doors behind him. Nikkum sat there for more then five minutes in the hall, he was getting annoyed and impatient. Where he could have gone so long, is it so hard to register new member? (considering that he is unable to fill out simple joining form) But soon events took a bit more entertaining route, as suddenly from all corridors rushed marines into hall and surrounded Nikkum. All of the escape routes were blocked, not that Ragnar wanted to run, NO! He stood up ready to show what he is made off, maybe this is some kind of joining trial? He did not know and he only wanted to punch several people in the face. "GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT RAWWWWR!" - ferociously roared viking and charged at first marine, no one could stop him now, but he stopped. Actually, he was forcefully stopped, by not somebody, but by the same old geezer from behind reception desk. "You are getting way over your head, youngster!" - said marine with wicked smile on his face. "TIME TO PUT YOU INTO PLACE!!" - Nikkum was lifted from the ground with ease and swung at wall like he was a small toy (stuffed one, with fur and big eyes and ears, the one kids like). He hit the wall with a bang in his head, knocking out all bloodlust and berserker out of viking's head. Old marine came closer, grabbed Ragnar's hand and locked behind his back: "I hope you will spend a lot of time in jail for your crimes. Did you really think that we would accept bandit into our ranks?" He took out hand cuffs and locked both Nikkum's hands behind back. "Stand up, trash. I am not finished with you!" Old geezer was about to punch him really good but voice from behind marine crowd stopped him. "Wait, Commander Malkovich! Stop, you need to read this!" - another marine rushed through crowd while waving with some kind of paper above his head. "You better be sure that this is important, Lieutenant!" - replied Malkovich while snatching paper paper from marine's hand. "This can't be true... that moron really went out of his mind this time, how does he even dare to do this..." - Malkovich releases Nikkum and walks away. "Release him, apparently Commodore wrote commendation letter for this illiterate fool... I even don't know who is bigger idiot of em both..." Soon Ragnar was released from handcuffs and escorted to Ensign barracks, where around twenty new recruits were stationed. Nikkum was not very communicable person, so he just ignored the rest of recruits and changed his cloths into marine uniform. It was a bit too small, even though it was the largest size they had. Yes, sometimes being big had their cons, but that did not bother fisherman too much, all he wanted now is to get into action (punch somebody's face, especially that old guy's from reception). However, he had suspicion that it won't be that easy. |
