Ok, well Rules are here to be followed not to be broken, but unlike many boards where you will be warned etc for not following the rules, this site will do it slightly differently. Each Case will be dealt with in a case by case manner, basicly we take each case and deal with it based on the circumstances and then log the outcome, in future we would refer to this precident and it will be used to offer us a fair course of action in the future. Ultimately however, if you break rules, you will be warned and eventually could even be banned if you continue. In General the Minor Rule Breaking will normally achieve the following result. -Verbal Warning. (Recieved via PM and recorded) -Warning PM, Warn logged in staff forum. -24 hour suspension. -Final Warning PM, Warn logged in staff forum. -IP Ban Board Behaviour - The Basics of member interaction Right, Behaviour! Its an issue that comes up with everyone at some point, so keep to these basic guidelines and you will be fine. We understand, at times, that when stress runs high you can often not be the nicest of people though please keep to these following as much as possible. -Respect others, their ways and their ideas. -Respect Staff and their decisions. -Respect the views of others. -No Flaming. -Absolutly NO SPAM. -Keep offensive language and comments to a minimum. -Please, no references to mature acts out of character and even then in moderation and only where needed to enhance RP. -We are all Equal, please treat eachother as such. Chat Box Behaviour Not only in Chat Box must you follow the above rules, but you must also follow the Chat Rules as Using the Chat box is in fact a privillege that can be taken away. -Absolutely NO argueing in Chat Box. -Keep Healthy Debate, to Debate don't develop it further. -No information gained on character's may be used In Character. -No asking staff to Do Did I's. -Swear all you like, just not in a manner hurtful to another member. Advertisments, the does and dont's There is a place for Advertisments, and a set of guidelines to follow there. Please do not advertise in your signeture, your bio, name or profile or in any post on forum or chat box. Only the advertisement forum is available for this, we hold the right to delete any and all advertisements not within this area and not following guidelines. The Almighty Gods! Ehm, or maybe just Staff... Staff Members are chosen, because they possess the skills we deem necissary to benefit the site and to ultimately, run it on behalf of the members. Do not ask to be staff, doing so will almost certainly garantee that you do not become staff, we will ask you if we feel you are right for the job. Staff abilities and Jobs are listed bellow, this is just a basic list as certain Staffers do infact have specialised roles on site. Administrators - These Staffers have access to the Admin Control Panel (ACP) and of course, the ability to add or delete forums and control the credits and code. These staff members amongst the Mod Abilities are able to accept characters and tech, and also to complete store transactions and post Major Events. Moderators - These staffers, have the ability to moderate forums, keep tabs on members and ban if necissary, they also have input on the site wide plot. Staff are also regulated by these rules which are applied to them and them alone, these are posted here for them but also for members so they are aware of what they can and cant do. -Must show the respect they get from members in return. -Keeping Staff issues within the staff. -Keeping up-to-date with meetings and votes. -Remaining active in Roleplay. Character's I bestow this Name upon thee... The Name of your character is important, mainly because not only does it reflect your character and becomes your characters identity but it also represents you. You will quickly find that people will know you by your main characters name, as is the curse many of us gladly endure. Names should not include rank and should contain a forename and sirname for example (John Smith), your profile name should also be the same as your chosen character name for ease of Identification. Please PM a staff member for information on name changes. The Biography Before you can RP, you must first create a character in the submission area, this character can be original or with a good enough bio you may take a Canon character central to the progressive story made by our staff. RoS will be assigned a rank and position within the faction. Please note, if your character is not acceptable a staff member will advise you to improve it, if this happens show utmost respect, Staff members are there to help you, ANY disrespect or bad behaviour toward staff at that stage will be punished. Character Copyright A persons Character Creation if original is there own work, and they hold the rights to that said character and its development. No one else on site has the authority nor the right to change that character once accepted other than the owner and the document belongs to them, however staff still hold the right to remove any bio from the site at anytime thus you should hold a backup if you really want to keep it. No member may post with another member's account, whether permission is given or not, this is a punishable offence. Canon Characters Canon characters are original characters made by staff that are allowed to be selected as playable characters by vet members. They are crucial for certain plots and some can even be great leaders. Do not ask to have access to them, staff will elect to give access when we see that you are getting involved and progressing the site. Godmode, for those that know not how to play the game God-modding is never tolerated EVER under any circumstance. Your character is not all powerful, nor do they have the ability to control other people's actions in your posts. Dont do it, you dont get more than a single warning. Items, the precious Possessions Items are things used within RP that can be bought with credits earned through rp, even given per post. Items include personnel, weapons, equipment and ships and can be obtained through auctions, stores and rp and all in all enrich the roleplay, making it better and improving the interest of the site. All items must be bought or obtained, and must be posted in your bio, anything in your bio that is not obtained and cannot be proven to be obtained, will be removed and you will be subject to loss of credits, warning or if persistant, a Deletion. Topics! Topics, are surprise surprise, the actual threads in which we write. When you click on a topic, you basicly see the posts in which people are writing so its not difficult to figure out what a Topic is. In order to prevent clutter, and disorganisation aswell as to prevent people from overloading themselves, we have limits on how many you can have. Unlimited Personnal Topics One Exploration Topic (After all, you can't be exploring two places at once) One Battle/Mission Topic (Grouped because most missions result in battle) One Construction Topic Here is a definition of each of the above. Personnal Topic - Any Topic which isnt a mission, and does not involve ship combat, is considered a personnal topic. These include personnal plot based topics or general roleplays between members to enhance a plot or storyline, they are the best and most interesting to read in some cases and in general some of the best posts are from personnal topics. Mission Topic - Basicly, a Topic in which you do a mission. An Additional rule to mission topics, is that the topic be labelled as a mission topic and the mission be quoted in the first post of the topic. Only one is allowed at one time to prevent people going overboard and overloading themselves, they are also pooled in the same restriction as battle topics. Battle Topic - What it says on the tin, a topic which is based on a battle whether it be small or large, single or faction. A topic is considered a battle topic if you are 1)Againt other players 2)Intentionally go into a topic for a battle ie. invasion. For Instance, if you did a topic in which it started out peacful and joined a seperate battle topic, the first topic then turned into a battle, then it will be fine because you could not foresee a second battle. These are limitted to one at a time, because topics are not set at the same time then when you lose ships in one it then does not comply with the topic set later in time. Battle topics are restricted with the same limitation as mission topics. ocaT Posting 101 Posting, the basics. Posting is how we develop a character, basicly how we roleplay and the reason we are here but there are some limits to improve quality where possible and maintain a certain standard. 1) All Posts must be 200 Words in Length MINIMUM, however cutting it fine is frowned upon and generally consistant 200 word posts will warant a staff member pestering you in topics to post longer posts. 2) All Posts must be Spell Checked, this is to prevent mistakes wherever possible and to avoid misinterpretation. If you do not spell check and someone misinterprets a word, then you are at fault. Some Tips: -Write your post in word, this way when your browser shuts down (its happened to everyone) then you dont lose it, if you computer freezes then its saved when you come back, and you have spell check and word counts. -To lengthen your posts, go into the detail we love that makes it interesting. Yes you can get by on bare minimum, but who wants to read one of them? Talk about the atmosphere, the sounds, feelings, thoughts even the subtle changes in posture and emotion that your character sees in others can beef up your post and make it more interesting to read. Reading Check : Please find the two words that where spelt backwards, and fit them together to make the check word. PM this to any staff member to confirm you have read the rules. Posting Copyright Owner ship and Plot Progression This section is to clear up ownership of posts, plots and storyline elements. This is a subject few sites will ever touch on, but I think it is a very important point to cover to make clear who owns which written parts of the site and when their ownership of it will terminate. In General ALL posts by a person are owned by them, this is never disputed for if you write something as your character then it is yours and will never be deleted from the site even in the case of closure, it will be archived and accessable by you. Now the sketchy points of what happens when you go inactive, it happens to everyone where you lose the will to write and leave which in some cases can be extremely damaging. An example can be if you have several characters, all involved in heavy plots in several factions and then you disappear or simply stop posting which happens too often. Now normally when this happens, thats it you have ruined these plots, but not here. If you do not post on your round for a week, your character will be re-directed to an inactive character forum and you will be unable to post until you claim this character in the forum to be activated. All your characters roles will be played out by a dedicated staff member, and the subsequent posts will not belong to you. Creating and Discovering New Things In this setting finding and creating new things and technologies is a tricky business. With the galaxy still completely unexplored and undiscovered a plethera of new things are around every corner. Finding basic things in personal topics is fine because you don't keep them. But things such as creating something new require Research Topic, or to discover you must explore anomolies and undiscovered area's in exploration topics. Death Characters are not immortal, it is possible to die if you do stupid things, so we encourage you not to go out of your characters limits to avoid death. Note, that player vs player combat can often result in one players death. So please, do not complain about your character dying if it happens. It should also be noted, your characters are no more powerful than an NPC, bare this in mind for this is something that will be enforced. Editting, the bad parts We all edit posts, we often make mistakes and need to change things, however heres the restrictions. You can edit, all you want, UP TO THE POINT where another person or staffer posts, but after they post you CANNOT edit your post even with permission. Plots and Submission Plots are the life blood of these kind of sites, they make the sites move and we have put them into catagories for the purpose of this site to properly organize them. Site Wide Plot - These are the full sized plots which span the entire site, these are the main storylines by which all characters revolve and all events are based. Staff will often post topics to participate in which are plot beneficial, and often rewards can be involved in aiding to push the plot forward. Sub-Plot - These are plots that are different to the Site Wide Plot, however are still relevant or contribute. They are generally available to people by staff, can offer substantial rewards, and help to push the site forward however do not involve large amounts of people. Player Made Plots [PMP's] - These are submitted by Players and are either relevant to the site plot, or totally different, they yield no rewards by staff however are enriching for your characters and help to develop your character and relationships with other characters. Credits Arm's Dealing Currency is used on this site for many things within RoS territory, from purchasing contracts for troops, weapons, even ships one day. Credits are earned 100 per post and are given for missions, though as you get more powerful this currency will become less important, expecially when building ships and after conquering worlds. Faction's, Building's and Fleet's Factions, what they stand for and how they are born Faction's are basicly representation's of which 'team' your on, there are currently only two factions at the time. Faction's generally aid each other, participating in missions, defending each other and collectively sharing shipyards and base's. Below is a list of Faction's including their general behaviour as a faction for you to take into account on character creation. - Republic of Seven - This faction is currently the most powerful known faction in the galaxy. Though many believe that to be untrue the RoS garruntee's it. This faction boasts a massive military force of over 800,000 trained soldiers and crew awaiting ships to be built and the massive space station/shipyard constructing the new vessels. Most of them have good morals though evil lives everywhere. Their intentions are to explore, expand, and make peace even if it takes war. Structures, Base's, Shipyards and Defense Grids Settlement: A settlement is usually present on a world already, though if not must be constructed in order for people to move to your world and populate it. This of course generates income via taxes set by you.
Military Base: A place to exert your power, train your armies and amass your arsenal for war. These structures are usually well defended fortifications, and it is not uncommon to attach shipyards or defence grid stations to these bases.
Supply and/or Research Base: A requirement for expanding anything beyond level 1, these buildings amass your vital supplies and resources and are used to research into new technology and experiment with the unknown.
Shipyard: Used to construct and house your massive fleets of war, these are the most important building for anyone wishing to mount a decent defense or exert their power beyond their lonely planet.
Defense Grid: These Satellites are controlled from your Defense grid station wherever it is built.
Structures a graded from level 1-5, a basic indication of their size and advancement. Any of the above structures, can be adapted as an Orbital station or even adapted for use on a stellar body like an asteroid or a moon! The choices are yours to make. Fleet's Yes fleet's, many of you who played past sites like this one will know the iconic nature of the massive fleet. Well they are simplified for now. Fleets are not currently bought, you can construct them free of charge if your character has access to the resources, you can trade ships with ease or command elements of the faction fleet. You can submit custom technology for your ships which would be added to a site wide archive of upgrades for ships, and of course you can engage in massive fleet battles. Like I said, fleets have no cost to your character, if the ships are available or your character is capable coming across ships it isnt an issue. The Fleet limits are as such for any single player: THERE ARE NONE. Just thought I should outline that as on previous sites, fleet limits where a major issue, well here there are no limits just act within reason.
Upgrades It is possible to upgrade your ships, as before said you only need to have a viable explanation for being able to do so and the upgrade must be researched and submited in the custom tech submission area when it becomes available. --- Rules and Guidelines of the Phoenix Program Completed---- --- Ending Query --- Reading Check : Please find the two words that where spelt backwards, and fit them together to make the check word.
