It had been a few days or so since the last time he had gone out of the system. Knowing that his crew wanted some rest, Ali'Zarin had returned back to RoS space. Giving his crew time to see their families as he was glad to get some time off. Truth be told he didnt have much of a famiily. A man who adopted him was all, and even then he didnt have much contact with him now days. For the moment Ali'Zarin had chosen to simply take a walk around the capital city. It seemed like ages since he was last in the city, yet for all the memories that came to him, he couldnt care for a single one. His life was filled with constant moving and feeling unwanted. His birth father had abandoned him at a young age, only to demand forgiveness when he was on his death bed. By the time he thought about it, Ali'Zarin had found his way into one of the many science labs as he began to look around. Every now and again he'd stop at one of the labs and look through the windows of the lab. He stand there for a moment or so and watch the scientist at work. Ali'Zarin leaned up against the wall and looked through the window into another lab as he watched a young woman at work. |

It was not often when Sasha found herself leaving Antarias for the capitol city of Zion, located on the planet Phoenix. She usually visited for conferences in her field of choice, using the experience to help expand her knowledge of the organisms that she worked on, on organisms that were recently discovered, and techniques that could help her study specimens more efficiently. It was not uncommon for her to give presentations on what she had been working on while residing on her home planet, and she always found it as an opportunity to expand on her confidence in her own work. Although there was no conference this time around, she was given the opportunity to take the preliminary notes on a series of specimens that had been brought in from another part of previously explored space. It was an opportunity that she could not pass up, not when it would provide her a chance to increase the unspoken ranks of the scientific community. She finished jotting down the last of her notes before the specimen was returned to its own culture dish in order to prevent any cross-contamination with anything else. Making sure that the label was in place for the next scientist to observe the organism, she cleaned her work space, scrolling back through the notes that she had made. She had never named an organism, and she could not help but feel that she was getting close to that first chance to name something that could become important in her research. It brought a smile to her lips. It would only help to show her people how competent she was and what she was capable of doing. Removing her lab coat and her gloves, she turned to leave the room, only to stop as she spotted someone peering into laboratory. She glanced toward the man, picking up on the features that she could see – the blond hair and the blue eyes – before she started moving toward him and the exit, storing the tablet so that she could retrieve it when she returned. Shutting the door tightly behind her, she heard the click of the lock as her blue eyes glanced up at him, her lips pressing together. “Something I can help you with?” A dark eyebrow arched in question as she leaned against the door. She could feel her stomach tighten in hunger, an indication that she would have to leave for a meal and for her daily dose of vitamins. Offering a gentle smile, she stepped away from the door, motioning for him to follow her. “Perhaps you can tell me more about yourself over a bit of lunch, if you’re interested that is.” |

"I just went out for a stroll and ended up here. Although lunch does sound good." Ali'Zarin stepped behind her, following as he walked down the hall with the young woman. He looked around at the labs before they came across the doors he had so absent minded stepped through when his mind decided it was best to day dream instead of paying attention. He walked with her through one of the many courtyards, one he hadnt seen for what seemed like ages. The buildings still the same as he looked around. "It seems like nothing has changed around here." He stopped for a moment and looked up at the large building in front of him. The one where the man who had adopted him worked as he looked back to the woman. "I know of a perfect place for lunch." He gave her a smile and walked through one of the many hall ways of Zion. He didnt know much about the young woman he was currently walking with, so he decided to learn. "What were you working on in the lab back there. Of course some of it is way out of my understanding." He walked with her as he approached a door and ran his hand over the side. Watching as they slid open before he stepped into the restaurant. A good looking place that seemed ritzier than most as the man at the front nodded and took Ali'Zarin and the young woman to a table in the back. |

She offered a smile before moving to walk with him. If he knew of a good place to eat, then she was not about to complain. She knew that it was almost time for her alarm to go off, a reminder for her that she would have to take her medication. She was always good about making sure that she never skipped a dose, knowing that there was always a consequence involved. In fact, she could never remember skipping a dose in all of her remembered years of life. Perhaps the doctor was correct, that there was something she had that warranted treatment since the time that she was six years old. She brushed the thoughts aside as they walked down the corridor, his voice filling her ears as he questioned her about what she had been doing. “I was given the opportunity to be the first to study a new specimen that was brought here. It’s a rather fascinating organism. It won’t be much longer before we start testing to see what its effects on other life forms would be. We’re not sure if it’s infective or not, but it doesn’t appear to be.” She fell silent as they approached the restaurant, a place that she could not remember ever step foot inside of. Within moments they were seated at a table in the back with a pair of menus. She glanced over the laminated pages before she glanced back toward him, her lips curving into a light smile once again. “You do know how to charm the ladies, don’t you? This is a nice place.” Her attention returned to the menu as she began to flip through it. Her mother had always been frugal, something that had rubbed off on her just slightly. Sasha never had to worry much about meals, considering where she worked and who she worked for. Meals were often provided within the building, offered throughout the morning and the day, even in the evenings for those pulling all-nighters. It was not uncommon to find her working in the lab until the wee hours of the morning, or to even fall asleep in her office. She worked hard, and that hard work had paid off. She was always determined, and that kept her going. “I’m Sasha Dominov by the way. I don’t believe I introduced myself to you.” A waiter placed a set of glasses filled with water down on table, and she grabbed one, taking a sip. “So, tell me about yourself, about what you do.” |

"It's very nice to meet you Sasha. I'm Ali'Zarin Deamora, one of the commanders of the Phoenix project." He gave a smile as he looked to the waiter and gave a simple motion. His hand coming up as he held up two fingers. The waiter bowing before leaving for the back as he took the menus with him. Ali'Zarin looked back to Sasha and smiled. "I guess the staff here knows me well enough to already know what I'm going to order, and it seems that one of the staff must know you too from the labs." He took a drink from the glass in front of him. He wasnt one that was much for the more Alcoholic drinks, so often water was perfect for him. He kept his focus on Sasha as he listened to her speaking of the organism she was allowed to work on. He had to wonder where they found it, then again he knew that most people spent their time on the Zalbion that he pulled it. "I had some time to spare, plus I needed to let me crew rest while the ship was repaired. So here I am just wondering around Zion for a bit." He smiled at Sasha as he watched the waiter return with two plates, setting them down in front of the two of them. The man bowing before stepping away as Ali'Zarin looked to the food. A normal meal for him, nothing complex beyond a white meat bird, some vegetables and potatoes on the side. |

Sasha listened in silence as he spoke, her eyes watching him. She barely registered the fact that the waiter had taken the menus as she took another sip of her water. Her lips curved into a smile, a small chuckle escaping her throat. She had not yet stepped inside of this particular restaurant, but looking through the menu, she had come to the realization that she had ordered meals to go when she was working late in the laboratory. Something from her home planet of Antarias followed her to Phoenix, and that was the tendency to stick to the one particular meal that she liked. She never changed her order, never altered it, always content that it would be the same each time she ordered it. She was, indeed, a creature of habit. “Wandering around the corridors can get you in trouble, you know.” The smile remained as the waiter placed a plate in front of her. She nodded her thanks, glancing down at the familiar sandwich. It was similar to the one that she ordered at the café back home, and it was undoubtedly the reason why she seemed to find a similar sandwich every other place that she went to. One day she would break the routine. One day. “So tell me, Ali’Zarin, where have you gone in this galaxy?” She leaned forward slightly, her posture changing. “I’m planning on do something one day, something that could help people in some way through science. Perhaps cure a disease we still have no cure for. It would make my people proud, at least.” She took a bite out of her sandwich, some of the dark locks framing her face. |

"I'm sure they'd make an acceptance for me." He gave a smile to Sasha as the waiter came back. He looked to the plate as he pushed the food around with his fork. He seemed to have a few other things on his mind that were distracting him from eating. He looked back at the woman when the question of where he had been before in the galaxy was brought up. He thought for a moment as he counted the couple of systems he had been to. "I think four or so is the count. One of which brought the Zalbion to the RoS station orbiting Antaria." Ali'Zarin took a drink of water as he seemed to only take small bites here and there when it came to the food. His mind was focused on the bad memories and the times here on Phoenix. He tried pushing it back into his mind as he looked back to Sasha and listened to her hope to one day help the people. "I'm sure there will be a time when you'll get to do that." He smiled as he took another drink. His hand lightly pushing the food away. His hunger not there, while his find focused on other thoughts. He was wondering about when he'd be leaving again. He hadnt left Zion on the best terms with a few people on the world when he did take command of a Phoenix ship. |

“An exception, huh?” Her smile had remained as she began to take a bit of food from the plate she had been served. “I see you like trouble then. Interesting.” She fell silent as he spoke, explaining just a bit of what he had been doing with his life thus far. He had traveled four times, well more than any number of times she had traveled. She had never truly left Antarias, unless to travel for such conferences and research like she was currently doing. Her older brother was the one who traveled, who had been involved in the launch. She knew that she would have her day, that she would be able to see the universe the way others had seen it. She just had to find where she would be useful, where she could prove her with, and that could take longer than she truly hoped for. She took a deep breath, putting another bite of food into her mouth and relishing the taste of a hot meal after a long day of studying specimens in their environments. “Eventually I will find something that will help my people and others as well. It will just take some time, and some convincing.” Her blue eyes closed for a moment before she glanced back toward him, a smile still gracing her lips. It faded just slightly as she watched him push his meal away, her eyes filling with concern. “Is everything all right?” |

He looked up as he saw that Sasha was now focused on him as he shook his head lightly. "I'm fine, just not too hungry. Each time I come to Zion it seems that my mind keeps focusing on other things. I didnt really leave this world on good terms." He looked towards another table and saw a couple of the people watching him as he took another drink from the glass in front of him. Ali'Zarin turned his focus back to Sasha as he smiled again. "I'm sorry for causing you to be concerned" His mind began to focus again as he thought and then looked to Sasha. "I had a thought. If you'd like, I have enough room to bring on another couple of crew members. I could use a scientist on my ship if you wouldnt mind taking the head position." Ali'Zarin smiled as he kept his eyes on her. His hand reaching for the glass as he finished the wine before setting it down again. The server coming back as he refilled Ali'Zarin's glass as he nodded and thanked the man. He then looked to Sasha as he picked at some of the food on the plate in front of him as he let her think on his offer. |
