Peter sat in his ready room, looking down at his tablet that currently displayed more work than he had ever had before in his life. Being a part of the Phoenix Launch program was a wonderful experience, once you started and got out there exploring that is. For now, Peter had been ordered, before he was allowed to take his ship into the unknown, to preform a shakedown cruise to make sure that all of her systems were functioning correctly. This meant running every computer system that the frigate boasted so that when they were pretty far from home they knew what to expect from what stations, and also would find out what needed some additional repairs and refits before getting officially underway. As he was going over some of his crew rosters and marine assignments, he decided that he wanted to take a break from everything. Of course Peter knew that time was running out before his mission was going to begin, but nevertheless he decided that he wanted to just change the subject for a while. He knew that the Bellerophon was in top shape and knew that this assignment could not prepared for in the fullest, mostly because of the unforeseen dangers they would come across in the vastly unexplored galaxy. Pressing a button on the panel that was located on his desk, he opened a channel to the bridge and said, "Commander Rash, set a new course and take us to Antarias. That'll be our final stop before we get underway. Please inform Nibiru that we will not be making our intended rendezvous." As his first officer acknowledged the order given by his superior, Kovani placed his tablet on the desk and spun his chair around, deciding to take a hard long look out of the rear window that was in his ready room. As the ship engaged its engines, he watched as the stars slowly went by, wondering what indeed may be out there. He had no idea what he was getting himself or his crew into, but it was that curiosity that was fueling the fire of the human spirit for the moment. If the Republic of Seven was to claim the former glory of the human empire, they were going to need as much information as possible as to how things were handled and what had happened before, just so they would know what to expect, and how to get the jobs done. -------------------- With the Bellerophon finally reaching its intended target, Peter walked out onto the makeshift bridge of the smaller frigate and turned on the view screen as he passed a control panel on his way to the command chair. Antarias was a magnificent world, one full of the most gifted and talented minds that the Republic has ever known. They were vastly responsible for making the Phoenix program a reality because of their superior technology and ideals vs the other worlds within the Republic. Since they had abandoned their final visit to Nibiru, the supplies they were supposed to pick up before their departure was also postponed. Looking towards his first officer, he ordered, "Commander, dock us with the station. We'll take on the additional supplies here before getting underway. If any of you wish to take any downtime before our mission commences, I suggest you do so now. There won't be many more chances in the future depending on how far out we are going." Although Peter hadn't known most of the crew on his newest assignment, he was confident that they were all capable and competent soldiers and officers. Having hand-picked each and every one of them, a personal perk for being captain, he knew what each of their capabilities were, and also their weaknesses. With the upcoming mission looming the crew seemed to be mostly restless and probably nervous. And hey, that was perfectly understandable for the assignment that they all applied for. A mission to chart the unknown was an exciting thing, and something that shouldn't be taken lightly. As the ship came to a stop and the docking clamps tightly secured the vessel, Peter was one of the first off. He didn't know exactly where he was going, nor did he particularly care. He was looking for someplace on the starbase that was quiet, lonely distant from everyone else. Since they were all going to be cramped up on that vessel for goodness knows how long, he wanted to take advantage of being alone. Peter wished that he had time to head down to the planets surface, but he knew that it was simply out of the question. The station would have to be good enough, and he accepted that. Finding a small cafe that was out of the way and barely had any customers, he was eventually seated and decided to order something to eat. It was in that time that he lost himself to the wonders of emptiness. |

The café was empty by the time she arrived to grab a bite to eat. She had less than twelve hours before the ship was to leave on its first research expedition under her command. There was something about the new responsibility that gave her a renewed sense of hope and personal accomplishment. She was excited to embark on her first research expedition, to take her first trip away from the ship where she would be in command of the research, of what they gathered and brought back to observe and study. It was something that she looked forward to, something that gave her hope that she could fulfill her potential and prove her worth. Her brother had faith in her, and she had to have faith in herself. She felt herself smile as she pushed through the doors, finding the interior of the café to be rather empty, with the exception of a few patrons that were scattered about the room. Her cerulean blue eyes stopped moving, locking onto one of the figures who sat solitary at one of the tables. There was something about him, something that attracted her to him, but she could not understand what it was. Tucking a loose lock of dark hair behind her ear, she strode over to him, her steps even before she came to a pause, a small smile crossing her lips. Perhaps he was waiting for no one in particular and the company would be welcomed. She had never met the man before, but he seemed so familiar to her, as though she should have known who he was. Her hand rested on the back of the chair as her lips pressed lightly together. “Would you mind if I joined you?” Her eyes seemed to brighten slightly. “That is, of course, you’re not expecting someone.” Without waiting for an answer, she slid into the seat across from him, her eyes watching him. She knew that he might possibly think her strange for the way she acted, but she could not easily shake the feeling as a blonde waitress moved toward them, prepared to take their orders. Hers was simple – coffee, black with one creamer, and a sandwich on wheat. Her order was always the same, and most of the staff were always well aware of that. It was one of the few places within the city that she felt like everyone else, that she did not hear the whispered remarks, but as of late that had seemed to change. And she knew that it had something to do with her promotion. Nonetheless, she was not about to become one to complain about the more positive change. “She’s waiting to see what you want. I can make it easy for you and just tell her you’ll have what I’m having.” The smile seemed to pick up, the same errant locks of hair falling slightly into her face, a stark contrast to the brightness of her eyes. |

Peter looked up as the woman made her way to his table, almost sighing at first with the thought of a possible interruption. At first glance, he didn't know who she was nor what she wanted from him, and he also assumed that she would just continue to stroll on by his table, passing him completely. His first just assumed that she was just simply physically attracted to him. A small sly smiled crossed his face at that pleasant thought, especially since she was so very beautiful. Even though he wasn't overly muscular, he was defined slightly and physically able for a person in his condition. And without sounding too cocky, he could understand why he might catch the eye of the younger crowd. Sitting more upwards and straight as she came even closer, he began to scan every reason that his mind could come up with to find out why she would be making her way towards him. Peter couldn't recognize her for the life of him, but at the same time he couldn't take his eyes off of her. She was indeed very beautiful and although he had been with a woman before, he had never been with one that was so rich and decedent as she was. When she sat down, he put down the tablet that he had brought with him containing some finally work details before the final departure. Smiling wider this time when she didn't even wait for an answer on whether or not she could join him, he managed to get through his lips, "No, not anyone at all, minus you of course. Please, have a seat." Things always seem to happen this way to him. Although he knew he was being a bit presumptuous to think that this chance meeting may turn into something more real, something that could evolve into a long-term relationship, he knew that he was soon leaving and probably never see her again. Did that mean he should just quit now while his emotions were still in check? No matter what happened here, he was still ordered to leave with his ship on the mission of exploration. So why continue this charade any longer when he knew that it would never amount to more than an innocent conversation between the two of them? "Um, yes ma'am I'll have what she is having. Thank you." He said to the blonde waitress that was awaiting a reply from him. In truth, he didn't hear what she had ordered because he had been too distracted by this chance meeting of the minds. Not only that but by her immense beauty as well. He looked away, trying to determine if anyone had been watching, looking or nonchalantly spying on him as he spoke to this girl. He still wasn't sure of her intent, but it never hurt to know if it had been a planned meeting. At least then you knew to watch what you said in her company. "I'm not sure that I've met you before. And if we have, I'm very sorry. I just can't seem to put a finger on it." He rubbed his chin slightly as he awaited for her response. "I must say when I saw you coming over here, I got a bit nervous. Beautiful women don't usually come up to me and want to chat unless we have prior history or I owe them something." He began to chuckled with those last words, then having his normal smile return to normal. |

Nibiru Event As you both make polite conversation you both feel a sharp pain in your heads quickly followed by voices from every direction, the voices are loud like screams and so many that none where coherent. This lasts for about four seconds but it feels like four minutes. Because of her proximity to another Nibiru close to the next stage Sasha's suppressed abilities momentarily spike due to her emotions causing a spike in Peter's yet earned abilities. This is not an evolution to the next stage simply a random occurrence. |

Deep blue eyes watched as the waitress stepped away, leaving the two of them alone. Truth be told, Sasha knew she had never met the man before, but she felt as though she had been pulled toward him by some unknown attraction. She had never felt such a connection before, especially one as strong as this one, but she figured that it was not worth trying to figure out. A casual conversation, a light lunch, and they would both be on their way. Or maybe something would be different this time. He did not seem as calculating as the other people on the planet, and he had greeted her much more warmly than any other Antarian would have. There was an emotion behind his greeting, and she appreciated it. “No, we didn’t have a meeting.” She offered a smile once again. “This may sound strange, but there is something that attracted me to you, and I’m not sure what it is. You’re different, so you can’t be from this particular planet.” Her eyes locked with his, watching him for a moment in silence before the waitress returned bearing drinks. She waited for a moment before she took a sip of drink before placing it back down on the table. She was trying to piece together everything, to determine what more she wanted to say. Perhaps she should get to know him more, to even learn his name. Perhaps this would be the start of something more than just an unexpected meeting. Maybe, after all of her years of suffering, she had finally found something that almost made sense to her. She was about to say something else with a violent, sharp wave of pain erupted in her skull. It was strong enough to steal the breath from her lungs, to make her chest pull tight as her eyes squeezed shut. Her hands pressed against her ears and temples, trying to block the pain, but it was radiating within her head. It was a moment later that she began to hear a murmur of sounds, a sensation that grew into a painful cacophony. She heard herself let out a small cry, feeling the beads of moisture slide down her cheeks. She was not sure how long the sensation was there, but it seemed to leave as abruptly as it started, causing her to push her chair away from the table. She struggled to regain her breath, realizing that the waitress had returned. She glanced around for a moment before returning her gaze to the gentleman, whispering. “I don’t know what that was.” |
