West Natura
Coldspring Island/Springfog
---
The core of the island is a pair of low mountains, worn down by millenia. A network of miniature valleys radiate out from the center with each valley lined with a small stream fed by the rainfall collected at the peaks. This turns into a flat plains within 15 miles of the edge turning to a mix of craggy rocks and gravel beaches at the border with the ocean. The north side of the north mountain is the site of the cold spring from which the island gets its name. This emanates from a cave system and the river it feeds runs for miles and cutting through Springfog into the harbor. On entering the city, the river bed is lined with ceramic tiles in blue and white and the occasional electric light and dotted with bridges for its entire length before entering the ocean. The harbor town is actually built around this tamed water feature and, because of the bright tiles and the pure source, the water is crystal clear and you can see pokemon swimming along wherever you are. The drydocks are in that dip on the west bank of the harbor and are completely artificial in origin. It is made up of a series of expertly shaped yards lined with concrete running fifty to a hundred feet below sea level that are separated from the main harbor by a series of locks and pumps. While a ship is being built an area is emptied and sealed to simplify construction. When construction if finished the water level is slowly returned to normal to prevent jostling of the ship and ensure water tightness. If a ship is to be repaired in dry-dock, divers insert wooden bracers between the ship and the cement floor as the area is drained so that it is supported when all water is removed. The town itself is mostly carved limestone and poured cement. Despite the monochrome building materials the town is bright and colorful. Every surface seems to be covered in mosaics and paintings, Windows are hung with curtains in all the colors of the rainbow. The two prongs of the peninsular mass surrounding the town are dedicated to farmland to feed the populace. Everything else is covered in tropical rainforest with the odd hut dotted randomly on the mountainside where hunters, fruit harvesters, and retired fisherman make their homes. These shacks are mostly constructed corrugated metal over wood. A dirt road winds around both mountains and over the saddle in the middle to cover a full circuit of the island like a giant figure 8. |
Kelpie Castle
---
Kelpie Castle has been half overtaken by the lake it sits on. Its lowest levels are completely flooded, cracks in the walls of the basement levels letting the water in over the hundreds of years. Pieces of it have started to slide in, and tilt off towards the lake. Some say it's haunted by a horse-like shadow monster, with a mace on its tail.
Dark Labyrinth
---
Somewhere in the swamp is a hole that leads down into a dark labyrinth. Nobody's exactly sure what's down there, but there's stories told both of treasure, and of people going down there and never coming back.
Covert of Time
---
Hidden in the trees is a shrine to Celebi. Some people say it moves, because every time it's been noted on a map, it's not there the next time.
It's also the only place to find wild fossil pokemon. It's not known if someone revived their fossils and set them free, or if Celebii brought some back from the past, or whatever else, but wild fossil pokemon of all kinds roam free here. |
Prafalst Heights/The Iron Fortress
---
At the base of the Prafalst Heights, nestled in the bosom of one of the hardiest mountains in the region, stands a massive city confined with thick walls and watchful gazes of the warriors and Knights that live within. The surrounding region is dotted with farmlands and other sources of food and cattle, relentlessly provided by the farmers and other serfs that serve as the subjects of the noblemen that dwell within the Iron Fortress. Here, many individuals live in relative peace and safety, for there are no wars and no cataclysms to face in these modern times, yet there are those that tirelessly train their bodies and hone their skills in the proud tradition of martial prowess, believing in the old adage that there will always be a need for warriors when the time came. Be it war, tragedy, or fury, there must always be soldiers and guardians willing to protect the people of the Iron Walls and of Natura as a whole.
