Air and debris spiral slowly in one of Natura City's back alleys despite the still air. The speed and the size of the debris increase until a sphere of dust and refuse fill the area. A nearby dumpster begins to rattle as a bright light flares and shrinks to a pinprick of light before expanding outwards to meet the edge of the debris wall. The light now is nearly as bright as the sun, the vortex roaring like a tornado before suddenly the debris all explodes outwards with force sufficient to embed paper into mortar and the light collapses in on itself with a thunderclap.

In the middle of the destruction stands a man of average height and build wearing a brown leather cloak and carrying what appears to be a remote control. He pauses for a second before turning to look around. His left eye is flat and seemingly unresponsive, a rectangle of darkness on pale skin. The right eye shifts between red and grey as he peers at the nearby walls in confusion. "Atmosphere seems normal, no traces of radiation or chemicals. Gravity is equivalent to norm, so that's good." He frowns as he taps the side of his head. "Not that much radio coverage, that's unexpected." He bounces up and down a few times on legs that seem to have come from a giant insect before shrugging and taking a few steps. "Maybe if I..." He walks to the edge of the alley and smiles. "There we go, now I'm getting the GPS feed... And it's coded weird.

He glances down at the remote control, tapping it on the wall a few times. "Oh that fixed it. Getting some kind of energy here that's not compatible with my tunneling equations. Weeeeird. Oh well." He tosses the remote up in the air and gapes as it promptly vanishes in a flash of blue light. "Okay, so my personal shield is keeping the energy at bay. Should be able to last about an hour and a-" He waves his hand in front of his eyes a couple times and blinks. "Okay, optical leads have both cut out and my eye sockets are itching. Which is strange because I disabled my pain receptors. Pain Rezguir~~~~" His voice became a a buzz of static. Eyes widening in alarm, he reached for his throat only to have his arms stop halfway and lock into place. A few seconds later his mouth dropped open as he started convulsing on the ground, wracked with silent screams as his eyes slowly rolled out of his head. Seconds later they were replaced by dark violet orbs as steel rods slowly worked their way out of his spine. This continued for the full hour and a half, a prosthetic would unseat itself only for a replacement to grow into its place. Unfortunately his voice returned within five minutes and his new found regeneration kept him from screaming himself hoarse. The cops couldn't even move into stop him due to the defenses.

When the regenerative cycle finally stopped the last of the prosthetics detected they were no longer attached and promptly self destructed, filling the alley with fire and once again burning the traveler on the ground. He recovered shortly thereafter, but most of the surrounding area was heavily scorched. All because of an excess of magical energy.

New rule: Please check the natural laws of the dimension you are traveling to before you go there.

A few blocks over, Steely rolled her coffee cup between her hands, listening to and feeling the liquid slosh around. The sun was still a little too bright and it was still hard to get out of bed in the morning, but things had gotten better in the months they'd been here. If nothing else, she had an unlimited number of distractions at her disposal.

Raziel glanced up from his tablet as Steely's thoughts hopped around, listening and waiting for them to settle again before he went back to being distracted. The city was horrible for him, but he knew the wildlands weren't very good for Steely right now either, at least not for extended periods. So for now the psychic just ground his teeth together and tried to pretend that he wasn't as bothered by everything as he actually was. At least Windy was pretty much unphased by everything, mostly striking out on her own into the city to drink in all the new sights and people.

He went back to what he was typing when he realized Steely was harmlessly distracted again, but when he started to hear sirens too, he frowned and looked back up again.

"Can you tell what's going on?" Steely mumbled across the table at him. Raziel's eyes flicked up to listen, trying to focus in on the faint edges of what he could hear. He tilted his head at what he could piece together.

"I don't even think the cops know what's going on. All I can gather is something about a naked guy screaming, and explosions."

The loud noises had sounded like explosions, and Steely had winced a little at the time but now just sat quietly in thought. She decided fairly quickly what to do, grabbing her cane and bracing herself on the table with the other. Her legs, covered by her long jeans like they were, creaked mechanically as she stood, leaning heavily on her cane while she grabbed her coffee.

"Where are you going?" Raziel asked, watching her limp away.

"Takin' a walk," Steely called back over her shoulder, slowly hobbling down the street.

Raziel watched for a few seconds before sighing, flipping the cover over his tablet and dropping it in the messenger bag he'd been carrying and tossing the strap over his shoulder so he could follow after her. (Surprise, surprise, heading towards the sirens I see,) he smiled despite this, (Can't see how it would hurt anything.)

Okay, now this is different.

There was nothing in the void Mark found himself in, not even his own body. He floated, bereft of sensation for an eternity before another thought rose.

What happened? What is this place? Where am I and why don't I remember how I got here?

Before he could delve into more self discovery he felt a presence nearby. It was both familiar and foreign, known and alien. It felt as if it were equal parts adamas and adstrum and animus.

Diamond and Brilliant - Star and Immortal - Mind and Soul

More than anything else, it was. It existed and as such formed a reference point in the void. Mark focused on the presence, using it as a point by which to both define himself and where he was. Homo and quaesitor and... and what? Who am I? Immortalis? Peregrinus? Nex... or simply avius. He felt the rightness in the definition and despaired for that was who he had become.

Human and Man - Scientist and Researcher - Trackless and Alone

To be defined by one's lack of direction, one's absence of meaning of life is a heavy blow. Wait. The feelings of anger and loss subsided as he remembered the Other. This is what I wish to be, an immortal creature of light and intelligence. Without knowing how he reached out towards the other and felt more familiarity. Diamond mind star... Oh. The starmie, the creature that represented the beginning of the path he had wandered blindly down. It's mind was gone, lost to the ravages of time, but its essence remained. This is also me but not me. This is who I wish I could be and who I destroyed. This essence is both my goal and my enemy Sorrow overwhelmed Mark at the spark of life he had destroyed. Is this who I am? A murderer and thief stealing the light of others to try and obtain it for myself? A mortal pretender reaching for immortality and destroying everything in my path? Praereptor? But no, Nex is not who I am. I am not defined by the deaths I have brought about. Am I inprobus? Oh... Well that's informative.

An eternity passed and then another before Mark picked up the courage to reach further towards the Other. I- I'm sorry for what I've done. I'm sorry for the trouble that I've caused and the life that I've stolen from you. The Other didn't answer. Do you mind if I try something? As the Other did not reply, Mark approached and slowly merged with it.

There was something beyond the void, something new and old to Mark's mind. He had more power now, the ability to reach beyond his self and influence the world in which he found himself. The darkness filled with points of light, atoms spinning and bonding and dancing in nothingness. The lights multiplied and expanded until the void was no more, transforming into a twisting vortex of sensation. Globes of energy, of knowledge formed and spun slowly across the maelstrom as spikes of white power extended from sphere to sphere forming connections until all were bound into a universe spanning web. Thick lines of darkness extended into the spaces in the web and spun together until they formed flat planes. Trees and grass sprang up in some, mountains in others, and even swamps and stretches of sky. In the center was Mark who still lacked true form. This is my mind? No. This is a construct, a psychic manifestation of an idea. Then where am I?

"-just lying there for five minutes. I say he's already dead, what do you guys think?"

"He just killed Frank! You're damn right he's dead." He heard a loud click and a crack at the same time he felt an intense stabbing pain in his chest. Oh, I've just been shot. That sucks. There were two more sharp impacts before he felt a globule of liquid hit him as the officer spat. "Good riddance. Someone call in a wagon to take him away. This really hurts. I wonder what happens if... He felt small solid forms work their way out of his flesh until they rolled down his chest to the ground below even as his skin knitted itself back together. That's new.

His eyes shot open and he looked around at the bloodstains and destruction that filled the alley. The bodies of two policemen sat nearby, badly burned. Walking away were four more police officers and a trio of police cars at the face of the alley. "Interesting..." He sat up and watched with confusion as the officers sprinted around the corner. A head with a pistol peaked around the corner a second later and he saw a flash that coincided with a pulling sensation on his arm. Blood blossomed from the wound as he barely kept himself from being thrown backwards. "Very interesting." He stood up slowly and held out one hand, willing some measure of protection into existence. Reflect, yes. That's what the move was.

His violet pupils extended to fill both of his eye sockets with blinding light as a wave of yellow tinted force appeared in front of him. Smiling, he noticed that the hail of bullets noticeably slowed as they passed through the veil. The bullets were still traveling fast enough to bruise him but such minor injuries were barely worth noticing. What else carried over? He rubbed his chin thoughtfully before smiling. Harden. I remember harden. His skin solidified until it the bullets simply bounced off without doing damage. I am very sorry for the life I took from you, but I thank you for this power. I only wish we could have worked this seamlessly in life. He started to walk down the alley, ignoring the approaching sirens and the calls for backup.

It was laughably easy for Raziel to catch up to Steely, with how slow she was shuffling along. Every step seemed like it was a bit of an effort, and Raziel took a moment to appreciate how well Steely hid exactly how much of an effort it involved. She shouldn't even be walking in the first place, but he wasn't about to tell her that.

So while Mark was having his... bonding moment or whatever with the starfish core, the pair of them were making their way closer to the sirens. It was only idle curiosity, and a distraction, nothing more. Steely knew she couldn't help even if she wanted to. She did have a giant, sabertoothed cat in her pocket who could, but she hoped she wouldn't feel inclined to set him after someone. While she was pondering that, she noticed that Raziel wasn't next to her anymore, and looked over her shoulder at him. He looked... very distracted, all of a sudden.

"You alright dude?" she paused too, leaning on her cane.

Raziel gave his head a quick little shake and followed, "I... fine. Something is happening that I've never seen before, though."

Steely continued looking at the psychic curiously, but he waved her off. He couldn't even begin to describe what he could hear and feel. Starmie was a psychic pokemon, so he was getting small and vague feelings of... something going on.

The street was corded off with police tape and barriers, so they were at a distance and trying to see, but Steely could only see some very alarmed cops and an alleyway. "...so apparently the guy in that alleyway just... stood up after being shot three times. And apparently he set two police on fire, but... that doesn't seem right," Raziel frowned, trying to make some sense of the thoughts he could hear. Behind him, Steely leaned heavily on her cane and dug around in her pockets until she pulled out a red and black pokeball that she flicked open. Cardinal the giant braviary appeared, stretching his red and black wings wide. While Raziel was thinking, Steely pointed to a nearby building and whispered something to the bird, who nodded and flapped into the air to hover.

"It kind of seems like the guy was... well, that doesn't make much sense. The explosions came from... something that came out of his skin? This is weir- and there she goes, not listening again," Raziel looked to see Cardinal reach down and grab Steely's cane, which she was holding over head like a handle. With a few flaps of the bird's wings, he carried her up onto the rooftop she had pointed at, and gently set her down.

(What are you doing?) the psychic's voice asked in her head. Sometimes she wondered why he even asked silly questions like that.

(Getting a better look, calm your farm.)

The sirens grew steadily louder until the sound of brakes screeching rang through the alley. There were now another three cars at the mouth of the alley and what sounded like a helicopter approaching from the southeast. A few more bullets flew down the alley before the recently arrived officers started conversing with those who were still there. After a few seconds a voice rang out from a megaphone at the mouth of the alley. "Stop where you are and put your hands on your head. You are to be placed under arrest for the murder of two police officers among other charges. If you continue to approach we will open fire." There was a series of clicks and clacks as more weapons were trained on him from the officers' partial cover.

Mark slowed to a stop and frowned as he considered his words before bringing his hands to his mouth and shouting back. "Yeah that hasn't really been working out that well for you but if you want to waste more ammunition I'm fine with it. Actually, could you guys loan me something to cover up with and a megaphone? Don't want to shout if I can avoid it."

The officers talked a bit among themselves before the one with the megaphone spoke again. "We have a blue sundress that should fit you and a megaphone and we'll be sending them with Officer Marlowe"

The outraged "WHAT!" that followed this statement was easy to hear but, a few seconds later, one of the officers was making his way into the alley holding a wad of fabric and an electric megaphone. Gingerly setting them down five feet away from Mark, he eyed the nude man carefully before walking backwards to his fellows. The foreign trainer ignored the actions of the police as he donned the loose fitting garment that was, remarkably, his size. Yes the hem only reached to his mid thigh but that was apparently the fashion now... for women. He tried not to think about it too much.

He picked up the megaphone and fiddled with it for a few seconds before speaking "Thank you, now it is time for me to make my demands, I guess. I'd like a 32 oz steak, rare is fine, the largest caffeinated soft drink you can find and answers to a few questions that will clarify what's happening here."

"We don't negotiate with unarmed suspects but you can ask your questions." After all what could the harm be?

"Alright then, first off would be what is the date?"

"October 25, 1014."

"Gregorian calendar then, that's good." Mark frowned for a second. "1014 what? CE?"

"RA"

"Alright, what's RA mean." He watched the officers arguing back and forth and sighed. "What happened a thousand years ago."

"OH! A meteor impacted the world and wiped out most of the life on the planet?"

What. "Does the fact that I have no knowledge of this event convince you that something strange might be going on here? Whatever. Do pokemon exist here?"

"Yes? What exactly is going on here?"

"I'll agree to answer any questions you have if you find me some food and do the questioning at your cars. I've just had to regenerate about 86% of my body mass including my brain, twice thanks to your sharp shooter, and the ambient energy around here is having a hard time making connective tissue from scratch."

"We'll take it under advisement. In the meantime come to the mouth of the alley with your hands up and don't make any sudden movements. We will refrain from moving you from this location until we have a better understanding of the situation."

(Just don't do anything to make the cops inclined to shoot you,) Raziel thought up at her, looking at her peering down at him from the rooftop.

(...yeah, because getting shot totally still scares me.)

Raziel winced at that, coming up with nothing to say in response. When he looked back up again, he couldn't see Steely or Cardinal anymore. (Brilliant. That worked well,) he frowned at the last place he saw her for a few seconds, before turning his attention back on the cops nearby. Well, nothing stopping him from trying to figure out what was going on, since it all just seemed... strange to him. Even with as far away as they were, he could pick up what was going on. Didn't mean that any of it made any damn sense, though.

Steely shuffled over to where she could see better, and sat down on the low wall at the edge of the building to watch the event unfold. It was a nice distraction, even if she was steadily getting more interested as time passed. Cardinal hopped over, leaning to see too, and Steely buried her hand in his feathers for comfort. Her other hand would have been on her pokeballs if it wasn't holding her cane. Not that she didn't think the police couldn't handle it, but her impulses always told her to be ready.

When Mark got the microphone and his voice was amplified enough for them to hear, Steely frowned and tilted her head to try and listen better. "I feel like I've heard that voice before... have I?" she mumbled, closing her eyes to try and remember. The words passing were things she already knew, the year and the pokemon. She couldn't ignore the weird itching feeling of memory any longer, (Oi, Raz. Does that guy's voice sound familiar?)

(What, the guy in the dress?) Raziel said back, a little more snappish then he intended to be. He was trying to make sense of things, (I never have, no. Why?)

(Ah, no reason.) Fortunately for her, Raziel was too busy to pry into why, so it left Steely scratching the top of her head in confusion.

"Wonder why they even had a dress, of all things."

Mark took a deep breath before he began speaking. "Right then, this is going to be a little complicated so try to keep up. I was doing some experiments involving cross dimensional physics and ended up here. I am not native to this plane, though I'm happy to see some things that are familiar here; much better than the last jump which put me in the middle of a lake of liquid methane. That was really weird. Anyway, the laws of physics are apparently slightly different here which means that one of my implants began behaving strangely and decided to increase my regenerative capacity to the point of rejection of the other prosthetics as the original tissue began to repopulate the area. The prosthetics themselves are, or were, of my own design and implanted as a part of my doctoral thesis on cybernetic integration to give me a PhD in bio-mechanics, particularly the interaction between living tissue and synthetic replacements. Which technically makes me a medical doctor, though I can't use D.P.M as that's already taken by pediatric medicine so my title is officially D.L.R or doctor of limb replacement even though that is both an overestimation of my own abilities and a simplified explanation of what I can do, as organs also fall under my field. I'm actually more of a mechanic, given my specialties, who works with actual surgeons and G.P. doctors to get the most out of a patient's time so as to maximize their ability to return to a normal life. Anyway! My own prosthetics mostly ran off of their own power source which doubled as a security measure as they could be made volatile with very little effort. Seeing as how I was one of the leading practitioners of my specialty back home, my limbs were both proprietary and a good target for theft as they are a step above what was available for general consumption. After the second attempt I made it so that on removal they would destroy themselves and hopefully the thief along with them. This would also kill me which is a non issue considering everything was grafted directly to my nervous system anyway so removal would have led to shock, blood loss, and eventual death. When the prosthetics were rejected, which shouldn't have happened given the amount of micro-scale suturing and cauterization I put into the fusion points, they detected they were removed and detonated themselves in accordance to preprogrammed procedures. It is only because you have an extra energy type that is fueling the one remaining tissue graft I have, part of an initial attempt at fusing pokemon parts with people, that allows me to stand before you today."

"I do greatly apologize for the loss of your officers' lives and will do what is necessary to make up for their loss. In the meantime I'd like to eat around 30 ounces of meat and drink the largest caffeinated soft drink I can find, seeing as how I just regenerated roughly 86% of my biomass and magic isn't good at replacing proteins. Whose dress was that by the way?"

The officers, who had gone from guarded to confused stared at him with some trepidation as he hadn't visibly breathed during his entire speech. One of them cleared his throat before speaking. "Was me mother in laws. She forgot to take it out of the trunk after I picked her up from holiday."

"Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for that." Mark put on his best smile and set the megaphone down on the nearest car, praying they didn't decide to shoot at him again.

"...the fuck?" Steely listened... but that didn't mean she actually caught all of it. She did catch that he wasn't from around here either, and that he had a lot of experience with bio mechanical prosthetic. The second part interested her, but she didn't quite arrive yet at the reason why it did.

(At least now we know where the dress came from?)

Steely snorted at the abrupt comment, biting back the urge to chuckle. Raziel likely was making more sense of all this then she ever would, so she leaned over the edge to look down at where he was, and opened her mouth to yell.

(Don't. Don't. Not right now, these cops are giving me a headache.)

She snapped her mouth shut and blinked, (I thought you said you didn't get headaches.)

(I lied.)

Truth to be told, he wasn't getting an actual headache, but the confusion from the officers was so strong given that there was more then one of them. And Raziel himself was very interested in what Mark was talking about... especially since it seemed like he was telling the truth. He couldn't be completely sure about it, given that the man in the dress... didn't psychically feel right, and he couldn't get a good read on what he was thinking. That in itself was curious. And given that Raz had an inclination towards machinery in the first place, he really wished that the situation wasn't going as it was. (Not like there's anything stopping me from wiping their memories and sending them on their way...) he happened to glance up and see Steely blinking curiously down at him, as oblivious and trusting as she always was. (...nevermind.)

A few of the officers walked behind one of the squad car while another started chatting to Mark about the particulars of his home dimension.

~

"What do you think, Ted."

"I think that is a fine crock of shit he managed to cook up in a hurry." Officer Ted said, frowning as he eyed the cop killer behind them. "What he says just doesn't make sense. I mean replacement arms that explode? What about you, Sarge?"

The original speaker, the sergeant, sighed. "I was going to say the same thing. It's impossible to verify his story, which is a red flag in my book, and he's already killed two people. If you were new to a town, would you kill someone as soon as you got there? I don't buy the accident thing for a second. What I'm seeing is a public disturbance that got aggressive with some officers and died resisting arrest. Officer Jenkins, make sure that report is accurate."

With a nod, the third officer opened the trunk of the car and pulled out a riot shotgun before inserting the magazine.

~

"So wait, Willow was the professor there? Why are so many lab professors named after trees anyway?"

"I know! It's like some crazy cult! I'm thinking they take pseudonyms to retain something of a personal life- Yes officer?" Mark turned a bit to face the sergeant who was approaching him. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

The sergeant grinned and held out his hand. "Just wanted to be the first to officially welcome you to our world. Called in to dispatch and there was a major electrical disturbance about an hour and a half ago that lines up with what you were saying. We still can't get a read on exactly what caused it, but I'm sure that someone can make out what it is given time. Hell, we might even be able to send you home!"

Smiling, Mark took the man's hand and shook it. "You have no idea how happy I am to hear that. I was afraid this was going to be one misunderstanding after another."

"No, no misunderstandings here. I've just got one question for you, why is it that your hands feel normal. Five minutes ago you had bullets bouncing off you."

"Oh, that uses up a lot of energy and it's really hard to hold up that kind of defense for long periods. I'm still adapting to all this."

"So you're not bulletproof then. That's good."

Mark heard a click behind him a millisecond before the world erupted into pain and darkness. The blast of buckshot had been aimed up at an angle through the base of his neck and the lead fragments had reduced what was left of his head to an unrecognizable mass. He felt himself slowly wavering on his feet, deprived of a sense of balance, and took a step forward to try and compensate. Feeling steadiness start to return, he widened his stance and did his best to straighten up when he felt another hammer blow to his back. He flew forwards about a foot and belly flopped on the pavement, mind adrift in a sea of pain. This. THIS is why I disabled my pain receptors, dammit. That last one was bad though, the shot actually hit the core. His arms were shaking but he managed to slide one under his body and heave himself into a kneeling position before the limb suddenly wasn't there anymore and he fell again.

Before he had a chance to try again he lost sensation in his other arm, and his legs below his knees before something struck his side and flipped him over onto his back. Are they really going to- He felt his abdomen disintegrate before another shotgun blast. Yeah, this would really feel like overkill if I wasn't still alive. The last shot had struck his core somewhat harder and he felt his body vibrate with the blow. The officers, however would have heard a deep ringing similar to an old bell. Probably flashed light too, come to think about it. Hope the bleed over into the radio bands managed to scramble their CBs. Stop. Need to focus... Why do I feel heat?

~

The police, terrified at the deafening clang and the blast of red light that shone from the body, had gone from dismemberment to disintegration as they lit road flares and threw them onto the 'corpse' in front of them. "I don't care what you have to do, make it stop moving!" The sergeant screamed at the other officers as one of them leaped into one of the cars and parked it on top of the undead thing.

~

Yeah, I'm on fire. This is making it really hard to concentrate. Just need to push through the pain, stop getting distracted and focus. Now what's that move that Caitlyn used that I felt was a pain in the ass. Ow. Okay, that's... That is a lot of pressure. Right, focus. Cosmic Power Almost instantly the pain cut down to a manageable level and the chemical fire of the flares stopped eating through his flesh. That feels so much better. Just need to put as much as I can into holding this and... there we go. From crushing pressure and nerve dissolving flame came the weight of a blanket and the slight tingle of the sun on skin. Now just a little bit more-"

"-the hell was that flash? What the hell are we dealing with here?" The bellow of the sergeant was the first thing to grace his new ears.

And they parked a car on me. Wonderful. Wish I could actually move it, but no... Starmie doesn't learn Psychic naturally and I doubt a bunch of water is going to help here. "Hey, get this car off of my chest before I grow a new foot and plant it up your ass!" Mark struggled a bit under the weight before collapsing with a sigh. "Yeah, I can't actually move. Little help here?"

One of the men approached, shotgun aimed at the trainer's head, and spat before speaking. "What makes you think we're going to do anything to help you."

Mark rolled his eyes and wiped the spit from his face. "Two reasons. One, you're going to have to move the car eventually."

"It can wait until you're dealt with, creature." The man frowned for a second. "What's the second reason."

"A little thing called Confuse Ray."

Up on the roof, Steely frowned and watched. She couldn't hear any of the conversation anymore (not that she could hear more then half in the first place), and the way the three officers were sulking around made her nervous. When the one went into the trunk of his car, she frowned and squinted.

"Is that a..." she started, and then what she was looking at clicked over. She had enough time to grimace and look away, but she'd already seen the officer sneak up behind Mark and put the shotgun to his head. She covered her ears from the sound, but she still heard it. Instead of looking over, she pulled her hands away, shaking a little, the image still burned into her mind. "That was... a thing."

It didn't even cross her mind that Mark could have survived that, more distracted by what happened then anything else. She leaned over the side again to say something to Raziel, but stopped when she saw her friend on his knees, clutching his head. "Oh for fuck's sake," she mumbled, turning so that her legs were hanging over the outside of the building instead. Cardinal did a double take and squawked in alarm when Steely simply hopped forward and slid off the edge. By the time he had dove off after her, she'd lightly touched down on the ground and flattened her suddenly frizzy hair with her hand.

"Raz? Hey man," she hobbled the last few feet as quickly as possible, and crouched down slowly next to him, reaching out to put her hand on his shoulder. His quivering seemed to calm after that, though Steely was still concerned when he didn't look up. "...you didn't get hit, did you?"

"...no," Raziel said after a second, his voice strained. Steely frowned a little and tilted her head, at a loss until the psychic spoke again. "I... I felt it..."

Steely's eyebrows shot up to the point that her hat actually hiked up a little, though she had no idea how to handle it. Distantly, she heard a car start, and more yelling, but was confused as to what was going on.

"That guy is still alive."

"...what?" Steely stood and turned, squinting beyond the barriers that had been set up. She hesitated, wavering and unsure since she didn't really grasp what was going on. Raziel reached a shaking hand over and pulled on her pant leg to get her attention, making her jump.

"He's telling the truth. They don't believe him." There was more to it then that, but it was hard to piece anything together with the pain he could still feel. While Mark may not have felt it anymore, Raziel sure did, though it was finally starting to fade. Steely looked back over. It was still a weird situation... but shooting excessively wasn't helping anything.

"Alright. Helix, go let them know who we are," Steely dug a black spherical rock out of a pocket, and underhand rolled it as hard as she could under the barrier and towards what was going on.

The sphere rolled a ways before it suddenly started expanding, wings snapping out of the stone that turned to black armored plates. It was followed by finned arms, huge feet, and a turbine-like tail that started sparking with bright blue electricity. The avatar of Zekrom reached full size, and slammed her talons into the ground nearby. Oi, I think I have Royal Authority or some shit. And by my royal decree, I think you fucks should back off. Helix snarled, watching the cops. Almost as an afterthought, she pulled off the necklace she was wearing and held it out towards them, showing a badge of the Royal Guard, the King and Queen's personal force. It's a long story, I'll get to it eventually.

"For fuck's sake, stop! That guy is telling the truth," Steely hobbled over the barrier while the cops were likely distracted with the legendary pokemon suddenly thundering at them, and limped closer, half standing behind Helix for safety. The Zekrom tried to shoo the cops away so she could pick up the car and set it aside.

She was very obviously not the Queen's Zekrom. The Queen's Zekrom was male, and a lot bigger then Helix. Still, Steely was hopping that her appearance was jarring enough to get the cops to stop. Though, she was going to have a hell of a time getting them to believe her.

No sooner had the gigantic pokemon appeared then the police started to fall back from their assault. There were some things you didn't mess with and legendary pokemon that belonged to your sovereign topped that list. In the short time it took for the gathered officers to realize that the pokemon was far too small to be the one belonging to their queen, Helix had already said her piece and Steely had managed to hobble up and be heard. Not all of the assembled officers were willing to believe the duo, and the original shooter was getting to raise his shotgun again, but eventually self preservation won out and the cops lowered their weapons to a wary resting position. None of them wanted to be the first to open fire on a creature that could melt them in half.

The silent stalemate continued for a little while, the cops staring at the legendary pokemon, before someone started clapping. "Oooh, ahhh. Look at the giant blue glowey black armor thing. Get the damn car off my chest. I'm hungry, cranky, and don't think I legally qualify as a speed bump. Plus the back tire over here is a little bit on fire." The trapped man pointed lazily, and with a bit of difficulty, where the back left tire had melted and collapsed in on itself from a wayward road flare. Hoping this doesn't set the gas tank on fire... Oh, my brain's back. It's so much more roomy in here now. Wonder if I can do anything about the muscle pinching this damn thing is doing. He wriggled a bit on the ground before stopping. "Yeah, my arm's gone numb. Hey little miss biker tattoos, why don't you and I get something to eat after this. Sorry to say you'll have to wear the pants in the relationship for now..." He peered down at himself with a small amount of confusion since the dress was still, amazingly, capable of protecting his modesty. "Tell you what, you get me out of this and I'll owe you a boon. Anything you want." Though I could use a little more T and a little less A. Ah, who am I kidding. I'm just happy to have my block and tackle back and working again. It's been what, twenty years since I've used it? Though she was a pretty one. Dark haired, bright eyed, and she did that thing with her~ (Let's just say he's reliving a memory)

The police sergeant had used the interruption as a chance to legitimately call into dispatch and was now approaching Katrina nervously. "Ma'am." He tipped his hat. "It turns out that you do in fact have the authority you are claiming which puts us in a bit of a predicament. Legally he is still a suspect that we are pursuing for several crimes ranging from public indecency to murder of an officer of the law. While your authority does, in fact, give you the right to interfere with this situation it means that we must remand the prisoner into your custody as a member of the royal guard. Also, as we actually have the subject in custody now the law demands that he be held until guilt or innocence can be determined and that he must remain in the control of a responsible party in some way unless he posts bail." He turned and glared at the dress wearing man. "Unfortunately the only thing we've found that will hold him is my car, so unless you have some other way of keeping him from... whatever he was doing again, you'll have to remain here with him until we find some means of containment."

"Hey jackass! You guys ever heard of handcuffs? I'm pretty sure if I can't get out from under this rust bucket I'm not going to be breaking out of those either." Finished with his fantasy, Mark turned back to being irritated by his capture. "Also, you know, you never asked me to surrender or anything." He rolled his head around to face Katrina again. "Though I'll surrender to you anytime you want... Or at least now at any rate. My spine is starting to ache."

Helix and Steely both puffed up a little at the shotgun-cop raising his weapon at them. Helix sparked like a broken high-voltage outlet and Steely simply raised her free hand a little, a faint electrical thrumming in her ears. Fortunately, the hulking legendary was taken seriously, and the cops lowered their weapons.

"That could have ended badly," Steely murmured, just before Mark had to put his two cents in. Slowly, Helix and Steely both looked down at Mark, incredulous. The dragon snickered, and Steely rolled her shoulders a little, suddenly self-conscious about her tattoos. "Excuse me?"

Haaah. You hear that? Anything. If you know what I mean.

Steely might have rolled her eyes right out of her head if it wasn't for the office suddenly getting the balls to come over and talk to them. She put both hands on her cane, held out before her and leaning on it for stability. She had a look about her that suggested she was in absolutely no mood to be fucked with, and fortunately the sergeant seemed... if not willing to listen to reason, willing to have the shotgun put down for now.

"So is a shotgun a valid means of containment now?"

Steely jumped a little, her 'attempting to be serious business' composure broken as she whipped her head around to look over her shoulder. Raziel looked pissed, though Steely liked to think that it was just from the pain. To her surprise, he also shot Mark an irritated look just before the man in the dress started to gripe again.

"Alright, alright! Let's get a few problems taken care of. Helix, get the car off of him," she gestured at Mark. The black legendary stomped over and lifted the car off of Mark, bringing a hind foot up and gently nudging him out from under the thing if he moved too slow. Steely waited until he stood before nodding at Helix again, "Grab 'em."

Helix gleefully lunged, pinning Mark's arms to his body and lifting him off of the ground. Steely looked back at the cop, "Alright, he's contained. What if I told you my psychic here confirmed that this guy is telling the truth about the explosions and stuff?" she smiled and gestured at Raziel, still standing a little behind her.

The way Raziel was staring at the sergeant was something like "go ahead and say you doubt me, I fucking dare you".

Shotguns are valid if you're dealing with a zombie... Mark shrugged a bit before waving at the newest arrival. He didn't know what to think about what was going on right now but at least the pain was mostly gone. Before he had a chance to come up with a witty response to the new information, however, the massive lightning dragon had tilted the police cruiser enough that the tire was no longer pressing into his sternum. When he just laid there staring at her for a few seconds, the legendary pokemon proceeded to kick him out from under the car (what else would you call a dragon 'nudging something with their foot). "Alright then. This has been fun!" Rising to his feet he brushed some bits of singe fabric off the front of his dress and bowed to the assembled people before suddenly being wrapped up in a pair of massive claws. With a wince he looked up at the dragon and smiled weakly. "I swear to any god you believe in that if you let me go I will deep fry a half dozen entire pigs, douse them in teriyaki sauce, and give them to you on a gigantic kabob. Probably with some cabbages and pineapples or some shit so it's got a good balance... Maybe a 20 gallon barrel of basmati rice and a cask of Alsace Riesling- I am really hungry right now." Probably would need to do a 2 hour brine soak on the cabbage before rinsing them down. Pineapple needs to be topped. Can't cook live pigs again, that didn't work out well at all. Apples are a maybe if we stuff the interior of the pig after deboning, it'll give them a sweet bite when she bites into them. Though if we're going that route we can stuff the pigs with a fruit medley to really improve the flavor. In that case we'll want to move past the deep fry and instead do a slow roast, probably buried in sand over a coal fire, for about 18 hours. Dripping will go to gravy and-! Oh! We can swap out the rice with that mashed potatoe recipe. Now I just need to find 18 gallons of buttermilk and a quarter tonne of gold potatoes~

The police sergeant looked from Steely to the psychic and shrugged before answering. "I don't care what he says, my job stops as soon as he's in custody. I'd like to see the jackass put away but I can't decide that." He glared at the dragon before walking to his damaged car and pulling a clipboard out of the center console. He scribbled on the top sheet for a few seconds before handing it over to the young woman before him. "Sign here hop-along and I can get my car fixed and you can deal with this headache." He pointed his pen at a line on the paperwork. "Lose him before he gets a trial however and it's on your ass." He waited until she signed before tossing her a set of zip-tie cuffs and waving her away. "Now, get out of my crime scene. We still have work to do here."

I am a god, little man, Helix bared her teeth in a sharp smile, so you had better pick a different one and start praying. The thought of food did sound good to her, so she made a mental note of it while Mark looked like he spaced out all of a sudden. Steely didn't notice, but Raziel very slowly looked over at Mark as he went on and on.

(...I imagine if you're immortal you have a lot of time to think about such things. Interesting.)

Steely couldn't help but to grin when the cop looked away to glare at Helix; the black dragon stuck her tongue out while she continued clutching her prize in her talons. When the cop presented her with the clipboard, Steely debated the finer points of dumping Mark on his head into the sewer, but Raziel nudged her arm and she snapped out of it to step forward and sigh. It couldn't get any worse then anything else she'd lived through, she imagined.

"Yeah yeah, I'll tie his ass to a chair and drag him in myself if I have to," she mumbled, handing the clipboard back to the officer and getting the cuffs thrown at her. She was looking at them, confused, when Helix realized they were being dismissed.

Woohoo! Helix cheered. Her wings flared out suddenly and seemed to get bigger while she crouched down a little and coiled her legs. The turbine she had for a tail started to whirr and spark, and then suddenly kicked up a ton of wind as she rocketed into the sky, whooping.

After the wind had died down, Steely stared blankly at her dragon cackling up above. "Was that really necessary?" she looked at Raziel, who just had an eyebrow quirked at the dragon. "Oh... nevermind, don't answer that. Come on."

They had to pry the dragon's new toy away when she decided to land, after all. Steely hoped Helix wouldn't shake Mark up too much.

"You're a god, huh. Well I didn't vote for you." Mark stated as he stared the dragon right in the chest, tuning out the police procedure happening below. "And if you think I'm going to start falling into one of those religious crowds just because you tell me to pr-"
His mouth snapped shut and he winced as the dragon's tail began to spin up. "Oh please no."
He began to beat on the dragon's leg and squirm as he attempted to free himself from his capture. "I really do not like flying. Please please stop." His eyes wide with panic he began to claw at Helix' leg. When he finally regained contact with the ground he clung to the nearest solid object (probably Steely's leg) with a death grip. "I really do not have good luck with heights. Please don't do that again?"

The black dragon's claws only tightened into Mark's skin when he started trying to get out of her grip. The brief impulse to drop him crossed her mind, but why go through all the trouble of stealing him from the cops only to let him splat on the concrete. She'd taken off like a rocket into the sky, so she was well above the skyline when she realized Mark was having problems. Suddenly concerned about dropping him, she found a flat roof and set down on it, still holding tight until he calmed down at least a little.

Or until Steely and Raziel got there. The blonde couldn't tell what was going on, but Raziel had his head tilted and thoughtfully frowned. "What is Helix doing?" is what Steely would have said, but she got as far as 'what is' before Raziel reached over and gently but firmly grabbed Steely's arm above the elbow. They disappeared and reappeared on the edge of the roof, and Raz cautiously led a bemused Steely closer to her dragon.

Steely blinked at Raz, disoriented only because the teleporting itself... hadn't been disorienting. "Why does it not feel weird when you do it?"

"My brain is wired the same as yours. Mostly," Raziel let go of Steely's arm finally. At about the same time, Helix finally tried to set Mark on his feet to see if he was steady, and let go of him when she thought he was. Steely was looking back to Mark when he suddenly lunged and clung to her leg. The sudden movement towards her made her squawk with alarm and jerk away from him, but he'd already attached himself to her leg. The sudden wrenching motion caused something to shift, and suddenly Steely was falling backwards with the leg Mark was holding onto not doing anything to correct her fall. Raziel reached to help when he realized what was happening, but he was such a scrawny little guy that he could only really help by gently easing Steely to the ground after he grabbed onto her arm.

She scuttled backwards, but the leg Mark had didn't come with her. It was a prosthetic, not professionally built but mostly functional at least. It wasn't pretty to look at, and was definitely starting to look worn out, but it worked. Steely sighed a little and looked at Mark after staring at her empty pant leg for a few seconds. She didn't look mad; he couldn't have known. Exasperated with the circumstances, perhaps, but not mad.

"Can I have my leg back?"

Mark didn't really hear Steely when she asked for her limb back. In all probability he wasn't hearing much of anything considering he had started convulsing on the ground while emitting erratic pulses of light in a rainbow of hues with no real pattern. With a sudden crack his arms released their hold on the rough steel limb as he collapsed as if he was a puppet who's strings had all been cut. Recent wounds reopened, skin rippling and blistering out from the burns and bullet holes from the last hour. His chest collapsed with a series of cracks as his ribs were reduced to powder while his head dissolved into a brownish purple mass leaving a malformed sphere of blackened bone where his skull should be. Finally the light in his chest coalesced into a spot of cherry red force that burned its way through his chest and continued on in a coruscating beam up into the night sky.

A half second later a golden doorway appeared on the roof to the right of the cripple and the psychic and a young woman of middling height walked through. Her eyes were blue and her hair black and she wore a dress that couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a bathrobe or a formal robe, though the images of dancing pencils suggested the former. Rubbing tired eyes she looked from the mangled pile of limbs on the ground to the three living creatures before her. "Alright someone want to explain to me what the hell I'm looking at?" She looked down at the body of the trainer and groaned before prodding it with her foot. "You realize this is why people as a general rule don't undergo dimensional travel right? You can only survive the trip your way if you are traveling by... He's not hearing me is he." With a gesture a series of symbols floated over his body and many of them began flashing red. "Yeah."

Muttering to herself she glared at Steely/Katrina. "You two. How long has he been here and why does he have the same home address as all of you?" She waited a few seconds before walking up to her and ripping a hair out of the blonde's head and vanishing in a flash of light." Less than a minute later she reappeared with a translucent copy of the man in front of her which she proceeded to drop. The ghostly form faded through the corpse and blurred before he regenerated to perfect health. "As I was saying." She kicked him in the ribs hard enough to toss him across the rooftop ten feet. "You can only survive dimensional travel if you have a homogeneous bodily construct that is consistent with both universe's natural rules. If you DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THAT FACT-" A bolt of lightning erupted from her hand to ground itself beside the trainer's head. "-you end up mentally connecting to all worlds that share the rules that are in conflict which left you BRAIN DEAD." She picked up the dropped prosthetic foot and stabbed it through his abdomen, producing a fountain of blood before his body healed around it.

Running both of her hands through her hair, she shook her head and turned back to Raziel, Steely, and Helix. "Paige Atrum, at your service. Sorry about that." She said with a bow before walking back through the doorway and slamming the door behind her, at which point it vanished.

Mark stared wide eyed at the collapsing hole in space before looking at his captors again. "Wait a second, when'd the dragon put me down and what happened to your leg."

Steely scuttled further backwards when she saw Mark convulsing. Her first thought was that he was having a seizure, but she quickly realized that wasn't the case. She didn't hear Raziel gag and turn around so he didn't have to watch. Neither Steely nor Helix were weirded out by the whole thing; the black dragon leaned over to try and actually see it better.

"Uh..." was the only thing Steely could manage to say at the appearance of someone completely random. She and Helix both shrugged together at the question. The first question, anyway. The blonde jumped a little at the sudden, specific attention, trying to mull over the information she'd just been given as quickly as she could. "What?" she squeaked, flinching away from the quick little pain of losing a hair, and then the girl was gone.

"What."

I dunno, dude, but I liked her robe. You think they make that in my size?

Steely had enough time to snort at Helix before the mystery lady was suddenly back, and Mark seemed to reassemble. This whole time, Raziel had been turned away from the mangled pile that was Mark, and now he finally turned a little to see what was going on. Steely did a double take at him; she'd never seen him so pale before. "You alright Raz?"

"Nauseous," the psychic said simply, looking away and holding in a gag at the fountain of blood that got Steely's attention again. She blinked stupidly for a second at Paige, and where the door had just been. Slowly, she looked at Mark, with her leg sticking out of him.

Dude, I like her style! Helix grinned at the empty space formerly occupied by a door.

Steely took a deep calming breath, reached into her pocket, and pulled out a flask. It was shaken next to her ear so she could hear how full it was (about half), before she unscrewed the top and started to drink the whole thing. Raziel glanced sideways at her without moving his head, "Uh... Steely?"

"What, you want some?" she stopped and looked up at him.

"...what is it?"

"Whiskey," she handed the bottle up towards him, but he shook his head.

"Can't. Made of grain, remember?"

"Ah... right. Shame," Steely shook the flask again, and it still sounded like it had a decent amount in it. Steely didn't finish it, instead sticking it back into her pocket, and looking at bewildered Mark. "A few minutes ago, and it's right there," she pointed at him.

Helix finally tore her eyes away from where the door had been, and looked at Mark. The Legendary Dragon's face broke out into a huge grin, Ayyyy, she's inside you!

"Fuck's fucking sake," Steely put her face in her hands, still sitting on the ground since she was down a leg. She didn't even know what to do about that right now, but Raz was refusing to look in that direction so he didn't get grossed out. "Helix, pull my leg out of him, will you?"

The Zekrom turned to look at Mark, grinning and flexing her claws before she reached to grab him by the scruff with one claw, and get the other claws around the end of Steely's leg.

"Oh." He looked down at the limb protruding from his stomach and grimaced. "This is going to really fucking hurt." He looked up to meet the dragon's eyes for a second before nodding and bracing himself for the pain. He ground his teeth together to avoid crying out, though tears did come to his eyes as he lay panting until most of the nerves were back to normal. "I'd ask for some of that alcohol now but I half expect it'd end up in my eyes at this point." He struggled to his feet and did his best to straighten the mangled sundress he was wearing before looking at the bloodstains with a sigh. "Let's try Camouflage then shall we?" He shrunk slightly as his body slowly shifted into that of a young woman with brown hair and violet eyes. Meanwhile the dress changed to accentuate his new form as the red of his blood and the blue of the fabric merged to a rich Tyrian purple and the holes in the cloth mended themselves. She ran her hands down her new body and rolled her eyes. And once again I find myself without the proper equipment, and from the look of it this set is more than illusory. Wonder if Mr. Tall-dark-and-vomiting will help me see if it's fully functional... Stupid libido, what the hell is wrong with you, making up for lost time?

She sketched a short bow to the dragon before approaching the other humans and offering her hand. "Mark Lonile at your service. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you since I'm pretty sure you saved my life back there and I'd hate to have that hanging over my head." She smoothed the folds of her dress self consciously. "So, pokemon huh? My home had pokemon too..." (expecting awkward silence here.) "Came from a place called Opadekka and they had these little computer things that came with your first pokemon which would be really handy for figuring out what this world's like since I'm completely clueless..." She stared at the two people in front of her for a few seconds before sighing. "Please tell me what's going on here, because I have no clue what's happening anymore or even where to begin with my life now."

Helix pulled the prosthetic out of Mark with more glee than was really needed in this situation, but at least she didn't just dump him onto the ground. She held the leg in one hand and Mark's scruff in the other, until it seemed like he was sensible enough to at least stand on his own, at which point she gently set him down. Dude, you got some interesting tricks going on there, she rumbled, looking him over as he changed. Steely's eyes widened where she was still on the ground, and once all the blood and gore was gone, she reached over to tug on Raz's pantleg.

"Aside from the bloody gross leg Helix is holding, you're safe now," she said, though Helix made things complicated by gleefully following Mark and handing Steely her leg back, still covered in gore. Raz had started to turn, but stopped abruptly when Steely sighed at her fake limb covered in real blood. "Helix, go and get that cleaned off for me, will you?"

Righto, boss, Helix rocketed into the air again, leaving Steely, Raz, and Mark on the roof.

Steely couldn't get up from the ground, so she shook Mark's offered hand from where she was sitting. Raziel finally turned around, looking mildly surprise at Mark's sudden gender change, but shook the offered hand either way. Both of them looked surprised when Mark mentioned where he was from, and looked at each other when Mark finished.

"Dude, to be quite honest, we don't have any idea either. At least not what's going on with you. But, here," Steely dug the flask out of her pocket and handed it to him. "From as far as we can tell, you just kind of appeared and all your mechanical stuff went haywire. We're from Opaddeka too, but you must be from a more future time than us. We've been here a few months... what do you want to know?"

Raziel stayed quiet, trying not to look at the splattering of blood further along on the roof. He quietly hoped Helix was very meticulous in her cleaning. And Mark's inner dialogue went over his head as well, given that he had the whole starfish thing going on.

Mary kicked at the ground as she pondered the questions she needed to be asking. Finally she decided on a line of inquiry that suited her needs. "Where exactly am I? Are the pokemon the same as back home or are there new species to deal with? What about the laws and the culture? How different are those?" She waved her hand at the empty space where the door had been a couple of minutes ago. "What the hell is up with that and does it happen often?" Her other arm swung out as she continued her rant, tears streaming from her eyes. "What in the hell happened a thousand years ago? Is. There. A. Way. Home?" Her arms fell to her sides, taking and shakily unscrewing the cap on the flask before taking a pull. There was more that needed to be said but for now it was easier to deal with the differences than the similarities. She sat down on the rooftop and stared at Katrina's remaining knee as she put her thoughts in order once more. "Why do you put up with such a... useless hunk of plastic anyway." She tossed the flask back to its owner.

Steely had no problem waiting for Mary to put together what she wanted to ask; in a previous life, she likely would have waggled her feet as she waited. Then again, in a previous life, Steely knew she'd actually be standing. "The city you're in is Natura Central, and the planet is called Natura. The city was named after the planet. I don't think there's any new pokemon; you should already know stuff like chespin and froakie and that lot. Laws... all seem the same as far as I can tell?" Steely looked up at Raziel, who shrugged a little helplessly. "Same thing with the culture, I guess? I haven't noticed that much that's weird... well, they're kind of... medieval, but modern at the same time? Like, the technology is a little better then I remember, but there's still real knights and a king and a queen and stuff."

She scratched her head at where the door had been. "I-I've never personally see that one happen before? Weird things seems to be a theme with me; I don't notice so much these days. Ah..." she stopped when she realized Mary was crying, and hesitated, but at least the next few questions were fairly easy. "A meteor hit the planet a thousand years ago and killed just about everyone, wrecked most of the planet. Uh..." she shrugged, "there might be a way home? I don't know; I came here willingly. There... should be some way, I bet?"

Steely immediately thought of Ezra, the one who had brought her here, but didn't mention him. She didn't even know if she could find him again, much less if he lived on the planet somewhere. She looked at where she was looking, squirming and self conscious at the attention to her empty pant leg. "Uh... well, it's all I have? We kind of made it, to be honest," she gestured at Raziel, and then realized that they had never introduced themselves. "Ah, I'm sorry, I totally forgot to introduce us. I'm Steely, and this is Raziel. Oh, and that was Helix that flew off."

So there was a cataclysm... Interesting. Mary frowned as she considered the implications. Advanced tech but a semi feudal society points towards drastic upheaval in the society but the fact that they seem to be capable of reproducing advanced technology points towards a high percentage of surviving specialists or an in depth training program that can reliably train specialists. Though with the timeline there is a possibility of a complete loss of most tech down to scavenging levels with the tech we see now being recreations based on old designs now that they've recovered the industrial base to both produce and distribute the goods in question... The buildings don't look to be made of scavenged materials and there's too much logic in the street layouts for the city itself to be anything but industrial age or further in origin, or at least massively renovated since the industrial period. The roads point to the former. With the city sharing the name of the planet that means that they're either unified, probably post cataclysm to aid in the rebuilding efforts, or that the city itself is the seat of the only sovereign... Post cataclysmic feudal society with a high technology base means... "Shit! How low is population density outside the city?"

The trainer started pacing, trying to put her thoughts in some kind of order. "This city is pre-impact too, isn't it... Damn it! Ruins, pokemon, technology- But the robed chick confirmed it's a different dimension. Convergent evolutioOH! Quick! Do you have an empty pokeball, or preferably some dynamite, on you? I need to test something!"

~~

"The leg is pretty clunky, but good work for amateurs. You could definitely tighten up the area around the joints to improve your stability, a bungee cord would do wonders... Have you ever thought about getting a new set?" Whatever happens, do not ask what happened. Remember that.

Raziel was staring at Mary very intently, like he was thinking really hard about something. Steely noticed, looking up at him slowly but not saying anything. She jumped a little when Mary came out of her thoughts and asked a sudden question. "Uh. Not very dense at all? Iunno... there's a few towns and cities and villages, but nowhere as big as here."

It wasn't like she had specific numbers or anything. And while she had read about it a while ago, she couldn't remember everything. Raz hummed thoughtfully while Mary was pacing, and Steely continued listening with her head tilted. She got something of a... weird look on her face at the mention of dynamite. Raziel seemed to notice, slowly looking down at Steely with concern, but she shook off the hollow look and reached into her pocket.

"I don't make it a habit of carrying dynamite with me, but I do have an ultra ball you can have."

They'd relocated a little when Helix had returned, carrying the leg all nice and clean but still wet with water. A quick jump on the dragon (Quit your screaming!) had put them on the roof of a skyscraper that was also an apartment building. Steely had handed over the leg for Mark to look at, since he'd changed back again after Raziel had run down the service stairs and come back with a pair of actual pants.

"We could have done better with more time, I think, but I'm impatient," Steely was sitting in her wheelchair, tapping her cane on the ground in lieu of tapping her foot. "And... I don't know," she sighed a little, scratching the back of her head. "To be quite honest, I hate needing help, but I think in this case I may really need it. Though, I don't know if anyone here could make a set that... iunno. Worked the way I'd like it to."

Instead of rambling, like she kind of wanted to, she stopped suddenly and shrugged. Raziel was still there, still giving Mark something of a look, but being less obvious about it. Especially when Steely noticed again and jabbed him in the ribs.

"That's... okay that isn't as bad as I was thinking." She shrugged and accepted the ultra ball that Steely offered. "Thank you kindly!" Turning it over in her hands a couple times, she stared at the surface before depressing the button a couple of times and watching the way it shrunk and expanded. The overall sizes of both modes were nigh identical to the ones back home. "I wonder if..." She tried to put the shrunken pokeball in her mouth and frowned when her teeth got in the way. Closing her eyes for a second, she reverted to her normal form and nodded to himself. Stretching his mouth as far as it would go, he barely managed to get the pokeball into his mouth before he braced himself and depressed the button. There was a short beep and he saw the reflection of a light flashing one before he wrestled the device out of his mouth.

"Ow." He took a moment to massage his jaw before expanding the ball and pressing and holding the button while counting under his breath. After ten seconds, he twisted the two halves of the sphere and grinned as nothing happened. Holding the ball up to his ear, he held down the button again and counted. After twenty seconds, he nodded to himself and twisted, pulling the plastic shell free of the bottom half ultraball and revealing the network of miniaturized circuitry and wires within. "Good news is, we're not time displaced which is what I was afraid of." He ran his fingers along the wires before pulling on one seemingly at random, at which point the yellow part on the top gave and audible click before he pried that off as well. "Circuitry is the same, diameter of the ball is the same, idiot proofing of the pokeball is the same, but the error signal is different as is the release to look at the guts of the ball." He snapped the parts of the ultra ball back together before shrinking it and dropping it into one bloodstained pocket. "If this was our world in the future they'd have no reason to change simple things like that... damn it. I hate this sci fi bullshit."

"Depending on what exactly you're looking for it shouldn't be too much of a problem once I get settled." He turned the leg over a few times, carefully avoiding looking at the dragon before handing the wayward limb back to its owner. "Although looking at what's left and the kind of scar tissue build up you've got it might be advantageous to remove some otherwise healthy tissue to make everything work the way it's supposed to." He slipped on the provided pair of sweatpants under the dress and sighed. What homeless person did you mug to get these? "Kind of a shame, I actually liked the breeze. It was so freeing. Anyway, we'll have to meet up later so I can get your pants off and get a look at what all you have down there."
