Air and debris spiral slowly in one of Natura City's back alleys despite the still air. The speed and the size of the debris increase until a sphere of dust and refuse fill the area. A nearby dumpster begins to rattle as a bright light flares and shrinks to a pinprick of light before expanding outwards to meet the edge of the debris wall. The light now is nearly as bright as the sun, the vortex roaring like a tornado before suddenly the debris all explodes outwards with force sufficient to embed paper into mortar and the light collapses in on itself with a thunderclap.

In the middle of the destruction stands a man of average height and build wearing a brown leather cloak and carrying what appears to be a remote control. He pauses for a second before turning to look around. His left eye is flat and seemingly unresponsive, a rectangle of darkness on pale skin. The right eye shifts between red and grey as he peers at the nearby walls in confusion. "Atmosphere seems normal, no traces of radiation or chemicals. Gravity is equivalent to norm, so that's good." He frowns as he taps the side of his head. "Not that much radio coverage, that's unexpected." He bounces up and down a few times on legs that seem to have come from a giant insect before shrugging and taking a few steps. "Maybe if I..." He walks to the edge of the alley and smiles. "There we go, now I'm getting the GPS feed... And it's coded weird.

He glances down at the remote control, tapping it on the wall a few times. "Oh that fixed it. Getting some kind of energy here that's not compatible with my tunneling equations. Weeeeird. Oh well." He tosses the remote up in the air and gapes as it promptly vanishes in a flash of blue light. "Okay, so my personal shield is keeping the energy at bay. Should be able to last about an hour and a-" He waves his hand in front of his eyes a couple times and blinks. "Okay, optical leads have both cut out and my eye sockets are itching. Which is strange because I disabled my pain receptors. Pain Rezguir~~~~" His voice became a a buzz of static. Eyes widening in alarm, he reached for his throat only to have his arms stop halfway and lock into place. A few seconds later his mouth dropped open as he started convulsing on the ground, wracked with silent screams as his eyes slowly rolled out of his head. Seconds later they were replaced by dark violet orbs as steel rods slowly worked their way out of his spine. This continued for the full hour and a half, a prosthetic would unseat itself only for a replacement to grow into its place. Unfortunately his voice returned within five minutes and his new found regeneration kept him from screaming himself hoarse. The cops couldn't even move into stop him due to the defenses.

When the regenerative cycle finally stopped the last of the prosthetics detected they were no longer attached and promptly self destructed, filling the alley with fire and once again burning the traveler on the ground. He recovered shortly thereafter, but most of the surrounding area was heavily scorched. All because of an excess of magical energy.

New rule: Please check the natural laws of the dimension you are traveling to before you go there.

Steely took the detached prosthetic from Mark when he was done with his inspection, resting it in her lap with her cane and looking down at it instead of him. Under any other circumstances, Raziel likely would have caught the homeless person jab and reacted to it, but he was too distracted watching Steely while she mused on what to do. It almost seemed too good to be true, too perfect.

(What do you think?)

(Of what, him? Or the situation? Because, really, that part is up to you.)

(Kat?)

(What's the worst this guy can do, kill us? Fucking hell, we'll see if it sticks this time.)

Even though they were both staring at each other by this point and having a private conversation, the both of them did hear and look up at the last thing Mark said. The psychic gave Mark a frowning look, and Steely looked baffled for a second before she got it too.

"Heh," Steely snorted. It was weird; a few years ago, she likely would have been uncomfortable at the awkward phrasing, but now it just felt like it didn't matter. "If you need help getting settled, I can see what I can do? Once we get your name cleared, I don't see why you can't get a few things to get you started."

Once I get my name cleared? He blinked and looked up at the towering bulk of Helix before looking back at the other two humans on the rooftop. "Oh. Right. Still a criminal...." He eyed the dragon and smiled before reaching into his pocket and chucking the ultra ball at the roof. "Aurorus! Hyper Beam!" He shouted as he sprinted towards the edge of the roof. "I'm not going back to prison!"

(some carnage later)

"Well it was worth a shot." Mark sighed as he looked at where the empty ultra ball lay on the ground. "Best two out of-" He shook his head "three. Three out of five, my dear dragon?" He smiled innocently at the black dragon's face and batted his eyelashes before turning back to Steely and becoming serious once more. "So what exactly do we have to do to get my name cleared? I mean you guys give testimony of innocence and police brutality and then what? Three day waiting period in general population eating gruel and beating people named J Raticate to death with a bar of soap in the shower to establish dominance before getting shanked after lights out by the rest of his gang members only for them to realize that stabbing you doesn't work and have them break off the blade inside your shoulder joint so it doesn't heal right and you have to replace the whole limb to get any kind of mobility and feeling back after you're released? Because I've already done that and it really fucking sucks." He paused as the others digested his 'scenario' before shrugging. "What kind of stuff are we talking about because I feel kind of naked without a computer. Or real clothes for that matter."

(...I'm starting to have second thoughts about this.)

(Only now, huh?)

(Shhhhhh.)

After Mark's failed escape, Helix had both of her clawed hands firmly on Mark's upper arms, pinning them to his body. At least this time she let his feet touch the ground. Steely hadn't moved for the whole ordeal (and Raziel had jumped when Helix had sprung after Mark) and was now staring at him and sighing, not having said anything so far.

Dude, you can't even compete with me, so stop trying, Helix grinned, giving her human captive a gentle squeeze.

With all the nonsense and shenanigans, Steely was finally now starting to look a little irritated. So as Mark's babbling got away from the legitimate and into the absurd, Steely's hands tightened around the leg in her lap and her forearms started to crackle with blue static. Raziel may have snarked something about Mark's scenario, but he slowly looked at Steely as the sparking intensified, and took a sidestep away just before Mark finished.

"If you don't cut your fuckin' shit, you're going to experience it again," Steely snarled, finally snapping and fraying a little. "I've already said I'll help you, the fuck else do you want? Because it would be a lot easier for me if Helix and I delivered your head to the police station and poured your body into a block of concrete. I imagine I'd become quite the hero with the police, if I did that. So are you going to stop being an idiot, or am I going to take care of this now?"

Out of her sight, Raziel was looking at the sky with his hands behind his back, and sighed. Not a lot he could say to calm her down at this point, but he was still going to try and think of something.
