Celeste mused quietly on the fact that this trip to Natura Central had originally been for a single purpose, and how naive she'd been to assume that it would that simple, as she followed her eager zangoose, who was scampering around to peer to the Golden Quarter's various sights. It was hard not to find Gemini's enthusiasm a tad infectious, watching the way she would stare at any interesting-looking buildings as if trying to figure out what they are without being able to read the signs, then dart back over to Celeste's side to either try to get her to check out what she'd taken interest in, or simply to spend a few moments near her trainer before she went off to look at the next thing that caught her attention. Celeste's hand would often reach down casually to scratch behind one of Gemini's ears or stroke her head, the bit of affection coupled with a smile. The other two pokemon with her were more subdued. Charity strolled at Celeste's left with typical gardevoir grace, giving the occasional faint titter at Gemini's antics, but the pair's empathetic bond was to the point that she could tell that the humanoid pokemon was also fascinated with a huge, foreign city. After all, much as refinement seemed to be a hardwired trait of her species, Charity was a wild-born pokemon who, even after capture, had always been more accustomed to rural environments rather than urban ones, and none of the group of beings had ever seen a city quite this massive. Celeste had no doubt that her psychic friend was logging away a number of locations to later request visiting. Shilo was all the more quiet, the weavile walking at Celeste's right with her usual calm stoicism. Her midnight black pelt, deep red feathers, and bright yellow eyes made for a striking image, but save for occasionally sweeping their surroundings with a gaze that looked more like it was more of a variety made to check for surrounding danger than a nice restaurant to have lunch at, and granting a flick of an ear here and there, either in the direction of sounds that rose above the usual city background noise or in Celeste's direction just in case she addressed her, she didn't pay nearly as much visible attention to where they were. That didn't mean that she wouldn't want to have some fun, of course, but just that that wasn't what was on her mind at the moment, and likely wouldn't be until someone else suggested a course of action that would lead to said fun. In fact, Celeste was sure, if they found the right place, there was something she could suggest that would make Shilo's face light right up... Too bad Celeste could only have the three of them out right now with her, but she had a general rule of only walking through populated areas with pokemon human-sized or smaller, out of courtesy for the other people around her; she'd make it up to the rest of her team when they were in a location that was more roomy and good for stretching legs. The lack of her more large and intimidating companions didn't keep other people from giving them a wider berth than technically required, but that was fairly normal. Giving pokemon one was not familiar with a bit of extra personal space was generally a good idea, after all. A few people did try to pet Gemini when she wandered over to investigate things, but she usually ducked out of the way of the overly friendly hands and returned to Celeste's side when they did to accept the petting of a human that was familiar instead of the strangers. "Don't wander too far, Gem," Celeste reminded her curious zangoose for not the first time that day, her tone similar to that of a mother speaking to their child, and like every other time she'd said it, Gemini flicked an ear, looked over, and gave an affirmative nod before going back to what she was doing. Gemini was an obedient pokemon, just prone to impulse. Celeste herself was a bit of a spectacle, if less so than her pokemon, between her green hiking boots, her black-and-white gloves, her coat with its cloud and lightning bolt image on its back, the silver-coloured metal collar that encircled her neck, and her bright red hair that caught the sun just right at this time of day to give it a vibrant gleam. The day was mild, and so her clothing choices didn't look inappropriate for the weather, but she was sure that she still looked about as odd here as she had back home. Nothing wrong with that, though. If there was anything she'd learned in her early days on Natura, it was that odd was fairly well-tolerated around here, thank Arceus. |

Fable had to admit, she'd never realized just how large Natura Central really was. The Umber Quarter was confusing enough, and she'd gotten lost several times finding her way out. Of course, now she was pretty sure she was in the... was it Verdant? There certainly were a lot of market-y places here... She had to admit, it smelled wonderful. But she was pretty sure this wasn't where she needed to be. A few times she thought about asking for help, but she kept finding reasons to back down. This person looked busy. That person was already talking to someone. Most probably wouldn't understand her anyway and she'd just look ridiculous and she would just... stay over here hugging the wall along this street okay. At last she saw a woman in an official-looking uniform. Or she thought it looked pretty official; she certainly hoped. Maybe the woman could help! "O! Au-DIN-no!" she called, waving in hopes of flagging her attention. The woman looked down at the pink Pokemon. "Oh uh. Hi there, lil one." "Din-au aud, no audo!" Fable spoke on the off chance it made a difference, but spoke more with her hands. She made a shape like a large building and pantomimed several actions relating to PokeBalls and writing and.... sighed. The human looked quite confused. Fable began to start over slower, when to her great relief a voice piped up behind her. "Can I help you with something, dear?" She turned around to see a large Houndoom peering down at her. The prey instinct within her caused the Audino to startle, but given a moment to calm down she pasted on a nervous smile. The hound was offering her aid, after all! It would be rude not to accept it. "Ah, yes please! I'm looking for the place that humans go when they want to get a Pokemon. Not to buy them but-- or I don't think... But the place where kids and newcomers and stuff go to get a very-first Pokemon. When they first become trainers. Do you know what I mean?" Her eyes sparkled with hope. "Oh, did you make a friend, Lady?" asked the trainer, presumably to the Houndoom. The hound in turn simply thought. "Mmm." ...Mmm? That didn't sound hopeful at all! "You know, I'm not quite certain. But I think that's in the Azure Quarter somewhere." "Ah!" Fable clapped her furry paws together and writhed in excitement, her collar bells jingling as she did. "Excellent!" She looked around the bustling streets, across the horizon, and back to Lady. "And... where is that exactly?" The Houndoom deadpanned. "Ah... Hm." She made a 'pointer' gesture and offered directions to the best of her ability. "Got it?" Fable nodded with another jingle. "Got it! Thank you so much." With that, she headed off, leaving Lady's human still wondering what had happened. --- Fable traveled until the buildings grew taller, and taller. The smell of fruit faded, replaced by a mixture of wood and industry and a far greater number of people. The streets grew wider, and the buildings taller still, and denser... until at last Fable found she had completely lost track of any landmarks she'd been using. Perhaps if she just... uh... If she'd been traveling this way, then... But... What if...? Fable collapsed into a sitting position with a jangle. "D...don't got it..." Nearby, a flash caught her eye, and she spied a Zangoose darting about. Fable couldn't tell if the mustelid had a purpose, but she certainly envied her confidence one way or the other. Right now, she found herself debating whether or not she could just lie in the middle of the street for a while or if she was likely to get stepped on. Where looked like the safest place to sprawl? Celeste chuckled faintly as Gemini left her company to examine yet another building's sign, the sound seemingly going unnoticed. She wandered over, four-legged, then reared up, her paws tucked close to her chest, to get a better look at the letters and shapes that she had no idea as to the meaning of but still found fascinating. She was so used to the ranch life that Celeste had introduced her too, with its open space and few buildings, that everything looked like one big new thing to explore. She wouldn't dare part from her trainer's company for long enough to truly explore any of it, however; her confidence was fueled almost entirely by the fact that she was not here alone. She didn't immediately notice the presence of another pokemon in the general area without human accompaniment, only having it come to her attention once she'd sunk down onto all fours again. It was then that Gemini paused and gave a slow blink at the pink pokemon sitting on the ground. She had seen one of those before, at least she was pretty sure she had, though they hadn't been one of Celeste's pokemon, and she was fairly certain that they'd been a different colour, and not had horns. Those were horns, weren't they? She blinked again. A voice in the back of her mind told her to leave sleeping pokemon lie--or sitting pokemon sit, in this case--and it was a voice that she usually listened to. After all, the voice only wanted her to be safe, and strangers were potentially dangerous. But this stranger looked the opposite of dangerous. She looked soft, squishy, and hug-able. She also looked lost. Gemini knew how awful it was to feel lost. Decision made, Gemini trotted over to the strange pokemon. With her current posture, she had to look up at them, but she made no move to rear up again to rectify that. "Hello. Are you lost? You look kinda lost." Her blunt words were accompanied by a look of pure innocence in her pink-red eyes, and her fluffy tail swished back and forth briefly in a habit she'd picked up from hanging out with her trainer's dog pokemon, which had been encouraged by the fact that a zangoose wagging their tail was apparently adorable to humans, or at least to Celeste. That was the moment when Charity started giggling, distracting Celeste from her map of the city and Shilo from her eying of a nearby alley to be certain nothing was going to jump out of it, and when they turned to look at her inquiringly, Charity merely smirked and gestured out where Gemini had gone, inviting her trainer and her weavile friend to watch the unfolding scene. Of course, much of it was lost on the former of the two, as even if Celeste been able to hear the conversation clearly, she was on the wrong side of the language barrier. Still, it looked like Gemini was trying to make a friend, and that was enough to make her smile. |

Fable did not notice the stranger approach, and startled as her ears perked at the sound of the voice. She somewhat settled upon processing that the voice sounded friendly, however. 'You look kinda lost.' Fable's face heated at those words. "I--... See I was just." She looked up at the Zangoose and felt her fur stand on end. She wasn't quite as scary as the Houndoom but still pretty intimidating. She stood to get on.. slightly less unequal footing with the larger Pokemon, then found herself averting her eyes and she twiddled her paws nervously. "I was looking for the. Azure Quarter I think? I started in Umber and then I ended up in I'm.. pretty sure it was Verdant and then I got directions but those brought me here and I'm not quite sure where here is and I--" Her fidgeting stopped and her eyes began to well slightly as she looked back up to the Zangoose. In a small whimper, she admitted, "I'm so very lost." |

The more wary part of Gemini noted the fur standing on end, and she shifted back slightly in an attempt to give the pokemon a little extra space, as she didn't seem aggressive, just startled. Gemini had a skewed perception of what was intimidating, due to many of her friends being significantly larger than she was, and so had little awareness that she was would in any way be such a thing in another pokemon's eyes. She tilted her head to one side curiously as the audino nervously explained herself, and when she saw the tears welling up in her eyes, her long ears drooped in sympathy. Without thinking, she moved to close the distance between the two of them and try to gently rub her head against the top of the smaller pokemon's in a comforting gesture. The motion was brief, however, and she backed away again afterward. "Don't worry. My trainer has a map of the city and she's very, very nice. She helps out lost pokemon all the time." She sat down and pointed back into the crowd with a paw. "You see those two over there? The weavile and gardevoir?" she asked as she indicated them. "Those are my friends, and the lady with the red hair between them is my trainer." Celeste, as she and her two other pokemon were indicated, smiled and held up a hand to give a little wave, still having no idea what was going on but figuring that being friendly was a good idea. Charity followed suit, but Shilo stayed as she was for the moment, eying the exchange between the two other pokemon silently. Gemini, cheered by the reaction, looked back to the strange pokemon with a smile. "See? She'll help you get where you need to go." In a distinctly human-like gesture, the zangoose held out a single, fluffy, red paw--no claws visible, of course--toward the audino as she added, "My name's Gemini."
