Wanna get a bunch of level 36's?
Want a good chance to catch some cool shinies?
Don't mind grinding?

Then this guide is for you.

Mt. Moon 2 is the best level for exp/min, $/min, and it offers up some pretty cool shiny pokemon to boot.

Watch the video below:
http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/805/zpi.mp4/

The strategy here is like so:
Your two strongest pokemon go on the bottom. At least one should be using a move that is super effective against rock (water, grass, psychic also seems to work well).
Your two weakest pokemon go in the middle.
Your two middle-strength pokemon go at the top.

All you need to do is watch the top of the screen for shinies. I often fill half my screen with a movie or T.V. show and the other half is ptd, this makes it a little less boring.

An alternative method is to put two very weak pokemon in the top spots using defense lowering or poisoning moves (leer, screech, poison powder, etc). This ensures that these pokemon will level quickly while also allowing your stronger pokemon to do more damage.

Keep an eye out for shinies!
So far using this method I've collected the following shinies
21x Zubat
7x Geodude
1x Poliwag

(I think I've been a little unlucky in terms of variety -_- )

Meh, this is a decent guide, but nothing new, I'm pretty sure this is what most people do. I guess it'll be of good help to new players though, good guide.

Too be honest this is a very basic guide (I'm not trying to claim I invented the wheel here) but I think it is helpful for new players who don't really have a grasp of how to train.

Agreed completely. Now, if mods could edit karma more than once a day, I'd give you some.. :P But I already did earlier haha. Nice job nonetheless, especially with the video.

Pretty informative guide for new players. Getting the positioning down can play a big part.

Thanks ^o)

I'm gonna work on expanding it a little bit later with some more tips and tricks that I've collected.

I don't know what version is that right now, but no, its not accurate anymore. You have a better shot at R5.

Route 5 is the best way to go. Put a pokémon with a slowing move up front (i recommend thunderwave or rock tomb, but not bulldoze, because of all the flying-types you'll face) front, then some pokémon with some area effect moves like bubblebeam, flame burst, or powder snow. Then put your heavy hitters in the back for cleanup(using moves like hydro pump, flamethrower, charge beam, etc). Not only will you level up fairly quickly using this method, but you'll earn a fair bit of cash in the process.

You may notice i didn't recommend any of the 120 power moves. They have lower accuracy, and will miss a lot. missing doesn't get you any experience. I've had entire waves walk past pokémon using blizzard or fire blast, just to have my pokémon just sit there and twitch with a constant stream of "MISS" appearing over their head. And while solar beam doesn't really suffer from this, it does eat up far too many opposing pokémon with each blast (fire blast does too). This robs your other pokémon of valuable exp (unless it's in the back, then it's not so bad)
