I was wondering what techniques people are using to defeat Starmie! I've tried a few different ones but I haven't been successful yet. I tried having Beedrill/Butterfree at the top edges for Stringshot with Pikachu/Raichu at the bottom edges with Thunder and then a Victreebel in the center with Leaf Tornado but that wasn't doing the trick. I then tried combining the two electric Pokemon and that didn't work either.

This next attempt I'm going to try to eliminate the slow and just pack on the damage!

Have 2 Venusaur at the middle and bottom using Petal Dance, and a Golem using Bulldoze at the top (At the right side of the field)

The other 2 places just Pokemon good enough to defeat a Staryu

I used Alakazam, Golem, Raichu and Venusaur :D
Raichu top spot with Thunder Wave, IMMEDIATELY switch to Tail Whip after it was used and again IMMEDIATELY change to Thunderbolt so it hits once ;)
Middle spot Golem with Selfdestruct - the moment it's gone, take out Venusaur with Petal Dance ^^
Bottom spot Alakazam with Psychic :)

Hope this helped!

Hmm, this last attempt I tried Pikachu/Raichu at the top corners with Thunder, Victreebel in the bottom right corner with leaf tornado and Venusaur in the bottom right corner with Petal Dance. I had a Jynx in the center using Ice Punch, but without a for sure slow Starmie flew right past everyone.

Hmm, I only have 1 Venusaur but I'm going to attempt your suggestion!

I used this placement (see pic), Golem uses Bulldoze, Venusaur uses Petal Dance and Alakazam uses Psychic (maybe replace the bottom Venusaur with Victreebel using Leaf Tornado) Hope it helps ;)

Alright, I finally knocked out the Starmie! I actually took out each and every single one of them using this strat! What I did was when it appeared let it get hit by Beedrill's String Shot, after that I switched that top corner spot to a Victreebel with Leaf Tornado. In the center I had a Venusaur with Petal Dance and in the bottom corner I had a Raichu with Thunder.

Not one Starmie got through using this line up!

Let's continue to post our line ups/strategys so we can help people as they log on and play the new update! I'm about to start training my Shiny Staryu!

After trying way too many times with messing with stats changes, I finally decided I'd just try and overwhelm it with damage. Turns out, Helping Hand and Scary Face are the only stat changes you need. Level 37 Riachu bottom right with Electroball, level 37 Venasaur in the center with Petal Dance, and level 36 Shiny Raticate starting with Scary Face, and immediately switching to Super Fang. Got both of the little Starmies, and if Helping Hand hadn't run out half way through would have had the big one too.

[EDIT]Shiny Arcanine level 36 providing the Helping Hand from top left, using Fire Fang otherwise, and Shiny Golem level 37 in the bottom left throwing out the odd Earthquate every once in a looooooooooooong while.[//EDIT]

Yeah I just had earthquake gyarados(mainly for the non boss poke's and because it has no other good physical moves against water types) in top right, golem with rock blast in middle, and pidgeot with whirlwind bottom left. Took one try and swept it with alakazam using thunderbolt on top left and Venasaur using petal dance in bottom left. Didn't lose a candy, but my poke's were all 36-38

I used in upper slot Ivysaur, bottom Victreebel, center Raichu.

My tactic was:
-Make Starmie sleep with Ivysaur's Sleep Powder.
-Quickly change Sleep Powder to Giga Drain.
-Attack with Thunderbolt, Leaf Tornado and Giga Drain.

All was at level 32/31

It worked. :3

Man.. You guys use too much of your mouse to change abilities or pokemons to kill Starmie..

Just use 3 pokes on Starmie side:
Raichu in the middle (Thunderbolt)
Venusaur in the top (Petal Dance)
Parasect in the bottom (Spore)

And any 2 that handle Staryu on the other side and leave it playing that will be alright..
