That's right! I, FireStar596, will be writing an in-depth (or as close as i can get to) guide for beating the story line! Yay :D
Please tell me how to improve or your opinions! It will help me do a better job of making this work! I will update this as close to daily as possible!
Additionally, it would be helpful if you can help me by providing information on hard to get pokemon or such! PM if you have anything useful!!!
On a side note, may someone please tell me what the character/text limit is (if there is one)?

Note: any pokemon I refer to as "boss" may not always be a boss, but might just be pokemon with blue health (this is common in levels such as Pewter gym, Mt. Moon 2, etc.)

Okay some bad news. I'm busy during "school days" cause I have hagwan (korean summer school). The walkthrough will be going very soon. Apologizes in advance

Research needed: Pikachu levels in Viridian forest

Chapter 1:
Prologue:
You're in Professor Oak's Lab! Woot! Anyway, he is letting you choose between three different starter pokemons! OMG!
Your choices are: The fire type lizard Charmander, the water type turtle Squirtle, and the grass/poison type Bulbasaur! You're only allowed to take one, but... (read spoiler if u really want to know)
Spoiler: click to toggle
Using the trading system, you can just repeatedly trade yourself other starters by taking them from the other files. All three are really helpful in the story line, but you should only take them if you really want to (or need to)

Anyway, a mysterious man and woman are using a Hypno and Drowzee to hypnotize a bunch of Rattata! Now, they (the humans) want the Rattata invade the lab and steal all the rare candies inside! Now, the man summons a Voltorb to blow a hole.
Back in the lab, Oak will ask you his final question. Do you want to play BLUE or RED version? Different pokemon appear depending on the version!
Now, the Voltorb sends a big KABOOM! and makes a hole in the lab! Rattata attack! Oak now needs you to defend the candies!

Level 1: Oak's Lab
Spoiler: click to toggle
Time to defend the candy! You will receive a brief tutorial beforehand though.

Level design:
The area is simply a straight line, with four spots on the bottom for placing pokemon.

Recommended Pokemon on hand:
Starter (Squirtle/Charmander/Bulbasaur)
Rattata (caught seperately)

Enemies:
Rattata Lvl 3-4: Waves 1-5 of 5

This couldn't be easier. The first two or three waves are easy, because you pretty much two/three hit KO every pokemon you see. Eventually, you will notice that the Rattata take more hits, and start having red health. Capture it, it will help you beat the rest of the level. You may lose one or two pieces of candy: don't worry! just focus on finishing (and its not that hard!)
Anyway, a massive Rattata swarm will appear! Oh noes! But Gary comes in, and his Blastiose pwns all the Rattata! He will leave after, leading you to...

Level 2: Route 1
Spoiler: click to toggle
The mysterious duo leave, having been epically pwned (all thanx to you). They now plan to take all the rare candy they can find in the wild. A young boy starts walking in with his pidgey, singing the pokemon theme song! The mysterious duo brainwash him... yay... now he's getting the wild pokemon to invade! Woot!
Back in Pallet town, Oak and Gary are trying to figure out who launched the attack. Is it team rocket? Oak sends Gary to find Ash. And you head out to route 1!
Only to be attacked by the wild pokemon...

Recommended Pokemon:
Starter
Rattata
Pidgey (caught seperately)

Enemy pokemon:
Pidgey lvl 3-5: Wave 1-5 of 5
Rattata lvl 3-5: Wave 1-5 of 6
Pidgey (boss): Wave 6 of 6
Once again, kick butt! By now, your rattata should've learned quick attack: have it use it! Catch a pidgey while you are at it, you add to your pokedex, and it's helpful. If it levels up enough, it will learn sand-attack, which is helpful early on...
After some fighting, the young boy will send his own pidgey to attack you. This Pidgey is tougher than the other ones, but your defenses should handle it. Use your own pidgey's sand attack if things start going wrong.
The boy is under hypnosis, but Pidgey helps him break free! Yay! The boy introduces himself as Joey, and he decides to join you!

Route 2
Spoiler: click to toggle
You and Joey will head into Viridian City. Joey plans to buy some supplies in the Pokemart. But... it's closed! A handsome man named Cal will show up, saying the gym leader ordered him to get everyone to evacuate. Since there's no point in staying, you two get ready to leave, but Joey asks Cal if he has seen a mysterious duo. Cal did, in route 2. You and Joey go to get them, with Cal saying everything's going to plan...
You will arrive in Route 2, with Joey wondering about the pokemon in the area. You will see a Rattata, and Joey will catch it. The wild pokemon will come... Joey will summon his Pokemon, and then it is DEFEND TIME!!!!

Recommended pokemon:
Starter
Rattata
Pidgey
Caterpie/Weedle (caught seperately)

Enemies:
Rattata Lvl 3-5 : Wave 1-4 of 4
Weedle/Caterpie Lvl 5: Wave 1-3 of 4
Pidgey Lvl 5: Wave 1-4 of 4
Rattata Boss: Wave 4 of 4

While this may seem simple (you do have someone tag teaming you) Joey's pokemon are weak, making them fairly useless. You will need to provide your defenses for obvious reasons. There is nothing that is new worth mentioning, except you will now see either Weedle or Caterpie depending on what version you are playing. Catch the one that shows up, and have it use string shot (turn off Pidgey's sand-attack if you do so though, because the inability to pick up candy wears off fast enough so taht the pokemon can just pick it up again with your reduced speed state.

Viridian forest 1
Spoiler: click to toggle
There's a pikachu crowd, but joey scares it away! Noes!!! A bug catcher challenges Joey to a battle, but a beedrill appears, and the bug catcher leaves cause he's scared (how ironic!) Joey isn't scared though, and you soon see some candies... defend time! but joey gets abducted by the beedrill from before... bummer....

Level design:
The level is a U formation. The candy is in the bottom-middle of the U. Pokemon waves alternate from the left and right sides.
Wave format:
Right: Waves 1,3,5,7,9,10
Left: Waves 2,4,6,8,19

Recommended pokemom:
Starter (charmander is ideal)
Pidgey
Rattata
Caterpie/Weedle
Pikachu (Caught seperately)

Enemies:
Weedle/Caterpie lvl 3-5: Waves 1-10 of 10 (Rarity varies with version)
Kakuna/Metapod lvl 4-6: Waves 1-10 of 10 (Rarity varies with version)
Pikachu Waves 1-9 of 10 (Low appearance rate)
Pikachu boss x3: Waves 10 of 10

This may seem easy, but Kakuna/Metapod are really annoying once they use harden (far too many pokemon use only physical attacks at this point). Using caterpie/weedle's string shot helps, but may not be ideal once again if pidgey is using sand-attack. Pikachu may rarely appear: stop at nothing to catch it, its the only electric-type pokemon you can see as of this update (3.2.2)! Thunder wave is useful!
The biggest threat isn't the Kakuna/Metapod, but the three pikachu bosses. They move fast so watch out!

Pewter Gym
Spoiler: click to toggle
The mysterious duo from before brings a tied-up Joey (beedrill did that) and a bunch of rare candies. Now they will execute their plan...
Meanwhile, Mewtwo arrives, and teleports you to somewhere...
Back in the gym, Brock tells his Onix to eat the rare candies. it scarfs down its meal, then Brock recalls it. The woman lays down the pokeballs, but you and Mewtwo arrive, Mewtwo disappears, and now Brock and Camper Luigi start throwing pokemon at you

Level layout: Level is an upside-down T. the candies are at the two ends of the T.

Recommended pokemon:
Starter (Squirtle is ideal, but Bulbasaur works too.)
Pidgey
Rattata
Weedle/Caterpie
Pikachu

Enemies:
Geodude bosses: Waves 1-9 of 10
Sandshrew bosses: Waves 1-9 of 10
2x Onix bosses: Wave 10 of 10

This level is a bit difficult do to every single pokemon you're fighting using defense curl. Throwing super-effective moves work, but Squirtle is the most ideal. Have pikachu use thuderwave: it and quick attack is its only usable move against the pokemon here. You're other pokemon should use whatever move you like, however, it's ideal for rattata to use tail whip (if it still knows it).
After beating the first nine waves, Brock sends his onix, but tells it to use rock throw. Return your pokemon ASAP, or they will be eliminated for the rest of the level. The onix are sorta fast, but they shouldn't be too hard.

Chapter Two:
Route 3
Spoiler: click to toggle
Now that you've been beat, Brock gives you the boulder badge. The man and woman now gang up on brock, threatening to kill his family. turns out brock was forced to do evil, and he souped up his onix to get em back. he makes it rite by battling James and Jessie (yeah he says their names out loud) and pwns their hypno and drowzee with onix throwing geodude (rock throw XD ) Joey, now saved, uses his beedrill for revenge... only to get abducted again!
After joey is saved, Brock heads to Mt. Moon. you and Joey decide to train!

Level layout:
simple backwards L. There are no candies to defend

Recommended pokemon:
whatever needs training. any pokes you have up to this point is helpful.

Enemy pokes
Nidoran M (rarity depends on version) lvl 6-7: Wave 1-30 of 30
Nidoran F (rarity depends on version) vl 6-7: Wave 1-30 of 39
Mankey lvl 7: Wave 1-30 of 30
Spearow lvl 6-7: Wave 1-30 of 30
Pidgey lv 6-7: Wave 1-30 of 30

This is a level that's sole purpose is to level up your pokemon. pretty cool huh?
You could take the time to make some additions to your team. Mankey is the only fighting type you'll see for a while, so its useful. Spearow is a flying type that's offensively better thatn pidgey. Nidoran are poison types that are useful too.

Viridian Forest 2
Spoiler: click to toggle
Joey's pikachu hunting! he wears a pikachu disguise and we see him trying to capture a pikachu...
TRAINING TIME!

Layout: There are two straight vertical lines side by side, but their distance is great enough so they can't be attacked at once. there are no candies to defend

Recommended pokemon:
Whatever needs training. Fire types are ideal.

Enemies:
Kakuna (rarity depends on version) lvl 7-9: Wave 1-30 of 30
Metapod (rarity depends on version) lvl 7-9: Waves 1-30 of 30
Beedrill (rarity depends on version) lvl 14-15: Waves 1-30 of 30
Butterfree (rarity depends on version) lvl 14-15: Waves 1-30 of 30
pikachu Lvl 10-12: waves 1-30 of 30
Paras

Once again, this is soley for training, but its more worthwhile because u get more experience.
the only new pokemon is paras. a good addition because of SPORE!!!
back to joey! his pikachu breaks free. he battles it the old fashioned way with rattata, and eventually catches it. Yeah!

I don't really think that such a walkthrough is necessary as there are videos, BUT I like the way you write and hope you keep it up-to-date :D

due to my hagwan homework, i can only give a brief suggestion to those stuck on Vermillion city:
have a paras/parasect with spore. when there is a gap between pokes, put it down. then switch to the appropriate pokemon. hopes this helps ditto and other ppls! :D
im closin the poll, but it looks as though i will go in order.
