Why? This isn't even that big of a thing. It's just the actual mechanics in the game, heck you can ignore it if you want, it barley makes a difference. It only makes a difference in the actual stats of your pokemon, do you quit pokemon because of one little not so important mechanic in the game? What makes you want to quit a game just because of one silly little thing? That's just stupid imo. It's not a game changing feature like Sam's planned pp thing that he decided not to do. |

Well for my money I probably would ignore it for the most part. But the simple fact is that a crappy system shouldn't be perpetuated simply because the rest of the game its attached to is awesome. You wanna customize your poke's stats? Come up with a better system than a bunch of randomized bonus spread unevenly through the population, or a grind slog that takes forever to rack up enough evs to actually make a difference in comparison to something with the same base stats, and doesn't end up mattering since half the time the other guy did the same exact thing. Now My real issue is the the IVs and the Natures since without breeding these things are just a matter of sheer luck. The suggestion for making EVs a little different seems more balanced, in that your pokemon can rack up EVs all it wants but you set which ones and how many actually affect a stat so that racking up a bunch of special defense evs doesn't screw up an attack build. Not terribly appealing to me, but balanced and less annoying than the nintendo game system which involves a bunch of paperwork to track. Honestly there has got to be a better way to customize these critters. |

Well I don't mind IV's not being in the game. (Natures maybe but I think there should be a way to influence a certain nature like in the games with the everstone, the nature bonus is really small so it doesn't make too much of a difference. Influencing IV's just sounds a little over powered and doesn't make sense.) If you can come up with a better system for EV's that'd work in this game please tell me, my idea was to make it so you don't have to worry about only beating a certain kind of enemy since that is incredibly hard to do in this game unless you really dedicate yourself to doing it by not letting them attack the pokemon that give the wrong ev. Yeah, Like I was saying your modified version is better than using a straight import of the ev system. It'd be tolerable. The other two are still a pair of bad ideas. |

The same reason I don't play the regular Pokemon games much anymore- I like being able to play at my best without doing busy work. The stats are fine the way they are. If multiplayer were implemented, I'd be at a disadvantage for not EVing my Pokemon. The only way I'd be pretty cool with this is if it were like Smogon or Shoddy where you automatically choose your nature or EVs off the bat. But even then, that defeats the purpose of it. Besides this game is mostly Attack and Speed oriented anyway (again, unless there were multiplayer involving attacking Pokemon of the opponent) |
