Just to give Sam ideas for the abilities, I'll just post what I think makes sense. Some ability descriptions are split with a slash (this symbol: / ), just to make it clear of the order. Descriptions without the slash apply to both offense and defense. You are defending/You are trying to get the candy Overgrow (Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venasaur) - Powers up Grass type moves if below 33% health/33% of candy Blaze (Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard) - Powers up Fire type moves if below 33% health/33% of candy Torrent (Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise) - Powers up Water type moves if below 33% health/33% of candy Shield Dust (Caterpie, Weedle, Venomoth) - Blocks added effects of abilities/attacks Shed Skin (Metapod, Kakuna, Ekans, Arbok, Dratini, Dragonair) - 33% Chance of status effect being healed (Offense & Defense) Compoundeyes (Butterfree, Venonat) - Accuracy is raised by 30%/Evasion is raised by 30% Swarm (Beedrill, Scyther) - Powers up Bug type moves if below 33% health/33% of candy Keen Eye (Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Spearow, Fearow, Farfetch'd, Hitmonchan) - Accuracy cannot be lowered/Evasion cannot be lowered Run Away (Rattata, Raticate, Ponyta, Rapidash, Doduo, Dodrio, Eevee) - Cooldown is lowered by 33%/You can run 33% faster Intimidate (Ekans, Arbok, Growlithe, Arcanine, Tauros, Gyrados) - Lowers defense of oncoming pokemon/Lowers attack defending pokemon Static (Pikachu, Raichu, Voltorb, Electrode, Electabuzz) - Paralyzes on contact/Paralyzes on contact (Much higher chance than defending) Guts (Rattata, Raticate, Machop, Machoke, Machamp) - If effected with a status effect, attack is raised/defense is raised Sand Veil (Sandshrew, Sandslash, Diglett, Dugtrio) - During a Sandstorm, your Pokemon's Accuracy rises/Evasion rises Poison Point (Nidoran F, Nidorina, Nidoqueen, Nidoran M, Nidorino, Nidoking, Seadra) - Poisons on contact/Poisons on contact (Much higher chance than defending) Cute Charm (Clefairy, Clefable, Jiggilypuff, Wiggilytuff) - Infatuation on contact (Infatuation on Def: Oncoming Pokemon moves slower)/ Infatuation on contact (Infatuation on Off: Defending pokemon won't attack the pokemon w/ Cute Charm) Flash Fire (Vulpix, Ninetails, Growlithe, Arcanine, Ponyta, Rapidash, Flareon) - Powers up Fire type moves (via rage bar?)/Powers up fire type moves when hit with a fire type move Inner Focus (Zubat, Golbat, Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, Farfetch'd, Dragonite) - Prevents flinching Chlorophyll (Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Exeggcute, Exeggutor, Tangela) - Heals you during Sunny Day (OR) Halves cooldown by 50%/Makes you faster during sunny day Effect Spore (Paras, Parasect) - Paralyzes, Poisons, or cause sleep by contact Arena Trap (Diglett, Dugtrio) - Pokemon are unable to leave the level (This one seems OP, which probably means a huge 'rage bar')/Prevents defending pokemon from moving spaces (rage bar again?) Pickup (Meowth) - Chance to pickup an item (Offense & Defense) Limber (Persian, Hitmonlee, Ditto) - Cannot be paralyzed (Offense & Defense) Damp (Psyduck, Golduck, Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath) - Prevents any self destructing move (Offense & Defense) Cloud Nine (Psyduck, Golduck) - Prevents any weather effects (Offense & Defense) Vital Spirit (Mankey, Primeape) - Cannot be put to sleep (Offense & Defense) Water Absorb (Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Lapras, Vaporeon) - Restores HP if hit by water (Rain Dance included) (Offense & Defense) Synchronize (Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, Mew) - Passes on status effects to the pokemon that inflicted it (Offense & Defense) Clear Body (Tentacool, Tentacruel) - Prevents stat loss (Offense & Defense) Liquid Ooze (Tentacool, Tentacruel) - Increases damage for draining moves/Damages pokemon who use Draining moves (Mega Drain, for example) Rock Head (Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Cubone, Marowak, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Aerodactyl) - Prevents recoil damage/Raises defense Sturdy (Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Magnemite, Magneton, Onix) - Raises resistance to status effects/Prevents 1-Hit KO's Oblivious (Slowpoke, Slowbro, Lickitung, Jynx) - Prevents Infatuation (Offense & Defense) Own Tempo (Slowpoke, Slowbro, Lickitung) - Prevents Confusion (Offense & Defense) Magnet Pull (Magnemite, Magneton) - Traps Steel Types/Makes steel types unable to switch spaces Early Bird (Doduo, Dodrio, Kangaskhan) - Awakens quickly from sleep (Offense & Defense) Thick Fat (Seel, Dewgong, Snorlax) - Raises the resistance from Ice and Fire type moves (Offense & Defense, I guess, on defense, I don't know how this would work...) Stench (Grimer, Muk) - 10% chance of flinching the opponent via contact/10% chance of doubling cooldown (via contact) Sticky Hold (Grimer, Muk) - Prevents item theft/increases item theft Levitate (Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Koffing, Weezing) - Blocks ground type moves (Offense & Defense) Insomnia (Drowzee, Hypno) - Prevents Sleep (Offense & Defense) Hyper Cutter (Krabby, Kingler, Pinsir) - Prevents attack from being lowered (Offense & Defense) Shell Armor (Shellder, Cloyster, Krabby, Kingler, Lapras, Omanyte, Omastar) - Raises resistance to stat changing moves/Blocks critical hits Soundproof (Voltorb, Electrode, Mr. Mime) - Raises attack if a sound move is used/Blocks moves that use sound Lightningrod (Cubone, Marowak, Rhyhorn) - Raises EXP gain for entire Party by X% if hit by electric attack (If used, Sam would have to decide)/Draws all electric attacks Natural Cure (Chansey, Staryu, Starmie) - Heals upon switching out (does not include when your pokemon faints on offense) Serene Grace (Chansey) - Boosts the chance of added effects (Offense & Defense) Swift Swim (Horsea, Goldeen, Seaking, Magikarp, Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto, Kabutops) - Heals you during Rain Dance (OR) Halves cooldown by 50%/Makes you faster during rain dance Water Veil (Goldeen, Seaking - Prevents burns (Offense & Defense) Illuminate (Staryu, Starmie) - Chance of finding a shiny pokemon increases (if this idea is used, sam would probably have to choose the percentage) (Not used on Offense) Flame Body (Magmar) - Burns on contact/Burns on contact (Much higher chance than defending) Volt Absorb (Jolteon) - Restores HP if hit by electricity (Offense & Defense) Trace (Porygon) - Copies foe's ability (Offense & Defense) Battle Armor (Kabuto, Kabutops) - Blocks Critical Hits (Offense & Defense) Pressure (Aerodactyl, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo) - Slows down defending pokemon by 50%/Doubles the cooldown time Immunity (Snorlax) - Prevents poisoning (Offense & Defense) Also, I was thinking...if the pokemon is shiny, should they have the Dream World Ability? And what about the new abilities given to the Gen I pokemon in Gen IV and Gen V? Would Sam use those? Edited by Alpha, Aug 5 2011, 08:18 PM.

Well I haven't gotten to read all of them yet but Sam is also doing the gen 4 abilities and the dream world ones. I'll edit this post later with comments about some of your abilities so check back at this post. Offence is when you're talking and Defence is when you're defending candy. A lot of abilities don't make sense for both. Suggested Changes: Pressure- Takes a little bit longer for a pokemon to attack a pokemon with this ability. Like a cooldown of 18 would take 24 to hit this pokemon. (Offence) Lightning Rod- All electric type moves direct towards your team will go to the pokemon with lightning rod and their speed would go up by 33%. (Offence) (lol lightning rod Goldeen) Sturdy- Prevents one hit ko's. (Offence) Clear Body- Prevents stat loss. (Offence) Arena Trap- 10% chance of whenever you make direct contact with a pokemon they get trapped for a little bit. (Defence) Shed Skin- Heals status when ability is activated. (Offence+Defence) Rock Head- Prevents recoil damage. (Defence) Cloud Nine- Clear the weather on the field and changes it to clear. (Offence+Defence) (I know in the games it works a little differently but it fits better like this.) Intimidate- When something attacks a pokemon with this ability it'll act as if the pokemon that attacks it as -1 physical attack. (And if they are at +1 it'll go to 0) It won't stay and it will only be for that pokemon or another with the ability. (Offense) Compoundeyes- Your target range is increased by 33%. (Defense) Edited by Professor Smeargle, Aug 5 2011, 08:01 PM.

I thought this: Offense = Pokemon that are walking toward the candy (example is Route 24) Defense = Defending the candy |

The OP only did the 3rd gen abilities so far, not the 4th gen or dream world ones. Drought will be interesting... too bad we don't have any other of the abilities that induce weather in gen 1, guess we'll just have to use rain dance/sandstorm/hail teams for that. (Rather then the actual abilities)

Well Drought is the only Gen I Pokemon with a weather changing ability. All the others are Gen II-V |
