So yea. my strategy in tower defense games is generally non-existent, and I find the battle against misty to be the first fight that can't be won by pure offense(without being over-leveled). My best strategy was to have Ekans and Oddish at the top. Ekans would hit the enemy with glare while Oddish had stun powder. Charmeleon would be in the center using dragon rush while I alternated Butterfree between the last two remaining spots (Save for Char, Butterfree is my only hard-hitter) utilizing psybeam, depending on where the enemy line was raining down from. The farthest I can get is generally when Starmie shows up; he's usually the last bugger to take mah candy. lol So for any of you who used pokemon at around lvl. 20 to defeat Misty, what was your strategy? My highest is at lvl. 24. Over-leveling is obviously and answer to defeat her, but I'd like to know if she's beatable--and how-- at 20. |

try using pokémon who have good to decent electric or grass type moves. if you have two pokémon with thunderwave, put them up front for the slow/paralysis. Rock Tomb could also be used for this, but its a little slower(plus no paralysis, but it does do damage). In the middle spot, if you use someone who has learned Thunder via TM, it will help considerably. Otherwise throw a pokémon with Psychic and a high sp. attack there. for the last two spot, your hardest hitting grass and/or electric types. You'll probably lose a piece of candy or two to the Starmies, but you should be able to kill everything else. |

Weaknesses and end-game TMs. gotcha. So I take it defeating Misty with a rag-tag team of random poke'pals is out of the question? Kay. |

not without the obligatory over-leveling, unfortunately. Most of Misty's pokés are super fast, and the boss ones are hard to bring down when you're close to their level. It's just too bad there are more of them than you have candy. edit: if you are going to use a pokémon that has learned Thunder, make sure you bring someone who knows Rain Dance. You don't want Thunder to miss, and Misty's pokémon don't attack, so there is no risk of it backfiring on you. Edited by Beelzebub668, Oct 3 2011, 11:42 PM.

Also, Fire-type moves are surprisingly useful here. There are a lot of Grass- and Bug-types in this gym. |

If you are talking about the Kyogre part of Misty's Gym, I simply trained Charmeleon until he knew Dragon Rage, and Gyarados until he knew Dragon Rage, then i just put them in and let them hammer away at his health. ^.^ Dragon rage always does 40 hp damage so he died pretty fast. If your talking about the first part of Misty's gym, I used Charmeleon with Dragon Rage, Gyarados with Rain Dance/Thunder, Alakazam with Psychic, Golem with Rock Blast, and Fearow with Aerial Ace. Thats only because I wanted the acheivement pokemon. ^.^ My pokemon were all around level 30 i think. I hope that helped, I ended up doing it three or four times before I actually managed to defeat her. |

After spending 10 seconds picking out some TMs, I wiped both sections out fairly easy. For the first, I just used Arbok(Glare) and Butterfree(StunPowder) at the front, Raichu in the center using Thunder, and Vileplume(Solarbeam) and Charmeleon(Fireblast) near the candy. Save for Char at lvl 31, everyone was around 25 or so. For Kyogre, it was a simple Raichu/Vileplume combo. It's really too bad this game forces you to get high-tier moves so early. I was having so much fun using the abilities of the lower-tier pokemon. Thanks for the help, peeps. |
