So this is a Extention of the Ultimate Nes Mod that I started in the Nes section. As well, to a smaller extent, the conversation on CRT vs LCD. However, since this isn't exactly a Nes mod or a Arcade restore, I felt that it did not belong in either section. I do have to say Woo Hooo for Protoman having a Misc Nintendo Section. It may not have been put here for this type of Post, its probly the best place for it. Now to get down and dirty.... sorta. I purchased a Nintendo Red Tent there 2 weeks ago. Which is a Double Monitor, upto four player Vs system. Look at johns arcade for more info on the Vs Unisystem and Playchoice 10. Then I stripped it of prity much of everything that wasn't the cabinet it self. Saddly, it had seen many better and brighter days. Scuffs, general wear, dents and surface rust. Today I drove it up to a friend that owns his own little garage. He is going to do all the body work etc. Sand it down to the bare metal, prime it, and putting a gloss black enamel on it. This includes the bottem black half and the originally red top. So when its finished it Will be a Nintendo Black Tent. Since, he is doing this on the cheap and in his spare time. It probly wont be done till Aug or Sept. Which is better then paying double or more. In the Mean time, my To Do list includes. 1. Completing Ultimate NES 2. Purchasing 2 LCD 4:3 19" Monitors with VGA(preferred) or CGA 3. A slew of custom vinyl decals to be made - These would be for covering the permiter of the Bezel. - Accent the upper half to give it a Red Trim similar to this guys control pannel http://i.ytimg.com/vi/OPvRdYPmJNM/0.jpg - Replace/ cover the pannel which originally had the coin mech uptop. - The control pannel - A small section that originally held the instructions for the Vs Games. 4. Replacement Acrylic Screens. To protect people from touching the TV. 5. Replacement steel plate, which originally had the coin mech. Edit June 04. 6. Replacement Acrylic screen, for Instruction window & Coin Mech. Is currently being made. 7. Replacement control pannel, which will be designed to have an inlay to hold the Nes controllers. As using the standard controller lay out, space wise, isn't adaqute for Adults. 8. Replacement Screws, Nuts and anything else I've forgotten 9. Need to find out to whom in NS or Ontario does Chrome plating/restoration. Danm those Legs. They will be more shine the "Precious" I will keep everyone aprised of the overal progress. Also, if i'm not lazy, so pictures as well. End goal, will the wife let me bring it into the house/living room? She knows its all being done, but that doesn't mean a thing. Poor thing might have to go into the basement/man cave. Edited by Gaetz, Jun 4 2012, 07:39 AM.
