Solving Murder Mysteries...
So is anyone here a fan of this series?! I am pretty much a huge one. It's sad to think there will be no more Harry Potter books, but hopefully we get the rumored encyclopedia...

NOTE: This thread may just come to contain spoilers of the series Harry Potter if you haven't finished all 7 books.

I love the books, but I haven't finished the last book yet so I guess I have to stay out of this thread until then.

I just started this weekend. I'm afraid of spoilers but I'm still taking it slow anyway, I don't want it to end.

Oh I understand that feeling completely. My advice would be to enjoy it for everything it is while you are still reading it because it's just so depressing to know when you're done that that it's really the end of the Harry Potter series.

ALSO, I promise I will not spoil you in any way. Props to you for staying clear of the little devils.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I finished the book when I got it on the 21st. It took me from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM to read it, but it was worth it. I really wanted to avoid spoilers.

It took me probably 2-3 days to actually finish it, just because I didn't want to. :( I got really emo after I finished it...It sucked because I'd been reading the series for 7 years, so after finishing book 7 it just felt like "Now what?".

Discovering Abilities
This is what Harry Potter has meant to me.
I just graduated in June from high school and I have been reading the books since fifth grade. They have gotten me through a lot of hard times and most the the major friendships I have formed are based solely off of a love for Harry Potter, though they mean so much more now.

And I my high school career ends and a month later the last book is released. For me, it really is the end of an era.

Here's to all those who died! And to all those who lived!

And yes, let's hope we get the rumored encyclopedia! That sad excuse of an epilogue didn't quite cut it.

Speaking of post-Potter feelings I actually wrote this very large post over at another forum - and since I have nothing better to do - I suppose I'll post it here: :)

"WARNING: The following words are really quite emo.

I agree with everyone here. I've been reading this series for seven years. I had no idea just how attached I was to these characters until I closed book 7 after finishing it and went to bed. I felt for every character that died and grieved along with those left to do the same. It's such a strange feeling. People can tell you it's just a book full of made up characters and a made up plot, but to me it was so much more. These were characters I had grown up with practically since my later childhood. I'd went along with them in there darkest situations and in there greatest triumphs. I know, it probably just sounds so lame to describe fictional characters like I am above, but that's just the way it was for me....

So yes, like just about everyone else, I feel deeply affected as this series comes to an end. To say goodbye to these characters for good after 7 years is extremely hard for me. This morning I too woke up not wanting to get out of bed...when the phone would ring I would not want to answer it...and I feel exactly the same way now. I don't know what to do to make myself feel better about this. I feel like I've been forced to part from some of my closest friends after being with them for so long.

I don't think I will ever come across such a wonderful series as Harry Potter. JKR has told a beautiful story and as much as I loathed it - I knew it must come to an end eventually. In this case, Harry's story ended beautifully.

Hopefully time can heal the post HP depression some of us seem to be feeling."

Yeah, I'm not quite as emo now, but the sadness still lingers within.

That definitely feels like what I'm going through. When I watched the movie and saw all their faces I was like... You die. and So do you! It was really sad to just watch them. It was harder even in the book.

Now I'm crying. T_T

Yeah, I'm gutted there will be no more books.
I read the last one yesterday, couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up.

Really annoyed about the new film though!
Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix the movie really lets the book down! They left out so much. I was really disappointed.

Spose the books had to come to an end eventually... I mean they're about Harry Potter learning to become a wizard... school's over now.

Meh.

I actually thought that Order of the Phoenix was the best movie out of the five! Then again, I'm not the type to get annoyed when they cut stuff out so that might be why. I actually avoid comparing the movies to exactly what happens in the book because I know if I do, I'll be disappointed.

I just thought this film took new heights emotionally and the characters seemed more grown up in this film which I really enjoyed.

I just thought the story would have made more sense if they had included some little things, I'm not saying leave everything in as it happens in the book because it's 900 pages and the film would be like 4 hours. It's just little things that bugged me.

In my opinion the first two movies were the best.

I agree about the first two movies. They transitioned so well together, but then came movie 3 and it was all just like "WHOA!". Everything and everyone looked so different..
