I honestly don't think we should be using any formation yet because I can't see us all having the basics down. Formations require us all to understand each others "speed", "accuracy" and "dribbling skills". Without knowing each other's level, there aren't any "efficient" way(s) that we are going to be able to "fully" utilise formations. So, in the meantime I'd actually just like us to to "vaguely" position ourselves in the formations, but not "focus" dead set on it (oh no I'm out of place) or something like that. OFFENSE TEAM - Triangle formation with adaptability into diamond. Playmaker - Eric //--- Subs with Andy Left Wing - Duckiie David //--- Subs with Me (Tung) Right Wing - Dav //--- Subs with Tan/Dac "SINGLE" Defender - Andy //--- Subs with Tai The order of the rotations for subbing should be as follow: ==>> = Sub out for. <<==>> = Rotate current positions. { } = Subbing precedence separator. { Andy ==>> Tai } { Eric ==>> Andy } { Tai ==>> Eric } { Eric <<==>> Andy } Dav ==>> Dac ==>> Dav ==>> Tan ==>> Dav Duckiie David ==>> Tung ==>> Duckiie David - A Playmaker is someone who creates the offensive plays such as moving passes forward and playing a one-two (quick pass and return) with either the "Right Wing" or the "Left Wing". Always try to base it on one two, and if Eric deems it safe, he can choose to move forward via Dribbling through. - Left Wing and Right Wing's job is to always make space on the sides, move around, hop, skip, I don't care what you do just open up passing routes or "pull" away your marker to give your Playmaker "options". Try to react to the playmaker's passes, I believe he will make some "phantasmal" passes that you wouldn't think he would, so keep in mind about open spaces and watch the ball. "Basically" be on your toes for such passes. - Single Defender will need to stay on their toes, because this group is offense orientated, you will often perform an "overlap" meaning you move up the field to mid-line, either taking quick shots at goal or support the offense when they have "no spaces" to pass and is forced to "back-pass". This also means that you are required to quickly run back and defend. In order to conserve stamina you should not go pass the mid-way point, able to perform "solid and accurate" kicks without exhausting yourself and also have the mentality to judge that "you do have some space and time, so take the opportunity to look at the field before you make your next move" (this time is usually 2-3 seconds). A good offense is a good defense. If you are trailing, do not worry so much about defending, as soon as you get the ball send it forward, try not to have the ball in our half, if you got "room" to move forward without being marked by an opponent, feel free to dribble, otherwise short and quick passes, don't attempt to trap the ball and try to do something fancy because you will often mess up, this is the "striker's and the playmaker's job". DEFENSE TEAM - Triangle formation with adaptability into square. For Kick-offs, have 3 at the front and one person behind, the person behind has to make sure not to "block" the Goalie's vision. Playmaker/"SINGLE" Striker/Middle-forward Defender - Eric //--- Subs with Dav Left Defender - Duckiie David //--- Subs with Me (Tung) Right Defender - Tai //--- Subs with Tan Middle-back Defender - Andy //--- Subs with Dac The order of the rotations for subbing should be as follow: ==>> = Sub out for. <<==>> = Rotate current positions. { } = Subbing precedence separator. Eric ==>> Dav ==>> Eric Duckiie David ==>> Tung ==>> Duckiie David Tai ==>> Tan ==>> Tai Andy ==>> Dac ==>> Andy - The Playmaker here will hold the "majority" of the offensive plays, most of the time he will be dribbling pass and try to score on his own (yes, unfortunately this group will mainly focus on defense and hopefully we are leading at that time). If you are confident that you can dribble pass the opponent's defenders, be my guest, otherwise go for long ranged goals when you see a clear path. - Left and Right Side Defender's will need to clear the ball once you get it, it is very likely that you will receive a good 2 seconds of thinking time on where you can set your passes, so use it wisely before you pass and don't panic. If you run into trouble and there is a marker on you "stick to the sidelines" and kick the ball towards their "outside" leg to "force" it out of bounds. If that is not possible and you need to make a quick clearance otherwise a goal opportunity will arise for the opposition, try to clear it "forward and out-of-bounds", don't be afraid to give them that side-line kick, it will give your team time to "recuperate" and slow down the other team's "momentum". Also because we are on the defensive, "try" not to go pass the middle line so that you can conserve stamina. Unless you are required during corner kicks. - Last Defender, you have a golden rule to clear the ball as soon as you get it, I do not care where you land the ball as long as you move it forward and pass the half-way point. If and only if you see a clear path in front of you to your allies, then you may pass it to them otherwise you must CLEAR the ball, don't even think of dribbling it. Why do I say this? Because most soccer plays will "center" around the middle and will often cross the middle or come from the middle. So you have the "important" job of "reading" possible plays, cutting passes, and ball clearance. Try and stay just around the Goalie's semi-circle, unless you are required to be inside (during corners mostly). Being in the middle you are actually the defender who can "overlap" and help out the striker, but you need to run back down to middle to defend, mostly because you are already in the middle so you are constantly defending wherever you go, and the only way the other side can break through is by "dribbling" pass along the side; because you should already be in the middle "cutting" off pass routes. Try not to think about scoring, think about securing the defense, if you take a goal, then you take a goal, revise on why that goal was even let in, block off pass routes, block off shooting courses, don't be too scared of the ball. Think of physical pain as something that can be treated and cured, and have the courage to stay on your mark and tackle the "ball". Try to discern the dribbler's patterns before making a move on the ball otherwise keep your eyes focused on the ball and have faith in your team mates. Encourage them or tell them what they can do next time or what you can do to help. Edited by Tung, Wed Jun 8, 2011 4:59 am.
