Flooded Loddon Bridge park and ride stays closed

A flooded park and ride site in Berkshire will remain closed for the rest of the day.

The Loddon Bridge site in Winnersh, which has a history of shutting after heavy rainfall, has been affected again this week.

Wokingham council said it hoped it would reopen on Saturday but with more rain forecast this could be revised.

On Thursday, motorists across Berkshire endured travel delays after heavy rainfall caused flooding on some roads.

By mid-morning the B4494 Oxford Road in Newbury was barely passable between the Grove Road and Love Lane junctions.

Sandford Lane in Woodley and Emmbrook Road in Wokingham were also closed for a time.

Flood alerts have been issued for Lower River Loddon, the River Pang and the River Blackwater at Swallowfield.

Whoops! Hope all ok. Did you get any power cuts? We've had a couple in Woodcote but thankfully we're back on now. The most bizarre thing was that for a time we had a partial power cut, with dimmed lights but no heating or appliances working...I thought is was all or nothing, shows how much I know :$

Woman escapes overturned car after skidding on icy road near Twyford

Reading Chronicle

A YOUNG woman had a lucky escape when her car skidded on some ice and flipped into a field near Twyford last night. The woman, believed to be in her twenties, was driving along Wargrave Road when her black Ford KA hit a patch of ice sending it skidding off the road, through a hedge and gate and landed on its roof in a field.

The alarm was raised at around 8.07pm and firefighters from Wokingham Road rushed to the scene, but the woman had escaped from the overturned vehicle and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with minor injuries.

MOTORISTS are being warned Sonning Bridge has been shut because of flooding.
South Oxfordshire District Council announced the closure this afternoon after water levels rose dangerously high.

The Showcase Cinema roundabout is open but the traffic lights are still not working and drivers are being warned to expect delays because cones remain in place.

Mill Lane in Sindlesham, Sandford Lane in Woodley and Lands End Ford in Charvil all remain closed, while Islandstone Lane in Hurst was also closed by Wokingham Borough Council this afternoon.
