Flooded Loddon Bridge park and ride stays closed

A flooded park and ride site in Berkshire will remain closed for the rest of the day.

The Loddon Bridge site in Winnersh, which has a history of shutting after heavy rainfall, has been affected again this week.

Wokingham council said it hoped it would reopen on Saturday but with more rain forecast this could be revised.

On Thursday, motorists across Berkshire endured travel delays after heavy rainfall caused flooding on some roads.

By mid-morning the B4494 Oxford Road in Newbury was barely passable between the Grove Road and Love Lane junctions.

Sandford Lane in Woodley and Emmbrook Road in Wokingham were also closed for a time.

Flood alerts have been issued for Lower River Loddon, the River Pang and the River Blackwater at Swallowfield.

Had a lovely day out with the family in Gullet quarry in Castle Moreton in Worcestershire. Stunningly beautiful. It was so good to feel the warmth of the sun. Long long overdue. Daib0 I really hope that French weather forecast is wrong. The thought of yet another dismal summer would be so depressing.
Hi Zip,the Muse concert is at the Emirates Stadium, not Wembley

Yep they are playing two gigs at the Emirates and one at the Etihad. How did it go? I can't believe some of the prices quoted. We paid £29.50 per ticket. It did mean we were stuck in the North stand so at the furthest point away from the stage but it was still a good view and we loved it.

I've read one or two reviews of the Muse gigs and some journo for the Torygraph was moaning about paying £85 for a ticket!!! Well missus you didn't have to pay anywhere near that much. Great value for money. Its costing me and Mrs Zip to see Blondie more at Westonbirt next month than it did to see Muse and no offence to Ms Harry but it won't be close to the spectacle of a Muse concert.

We didn't fancy standing although it would have been far more atmospheric. It will be a long night for your grandson if he's standing all the time. Dizzee Rascal was ok. There was one song Heart of a Warrior which was superb but only because one of Dizzee Rascal's line-up(guy in a blue t-shirt) was singing it and he had a great voice and was far more talented than Dizzee Rascal. It was a very odd choice of a support act.
Muse should finish at about 10:30pm.

Charlie(Zip J) fell asleep on the drive home from Coventry. We had to wake him up when we got home at about 12:40am because he was too heavy to carry from the car to his bedroom. He was a right grumpy little zip when we woke him up but was fine for school later in the morning :D

after such a horrible winter rained season, it's nice to be able to read:

Reading Chronicle

Families have fun in the sun at the Royal Berks Hospital fete

Hundreds of families turned out in brilliant sunshine to browse stalls, chomp on cakes, jump on bouncy castles, swish down slides and climb through an inflatable tunnel at the Royal Berkshire Hospital Summer Fete, Armour Road, Tilehurst, Reading.

:) :)

We have the Thames Valley WEATHER thread, and I've been feeling for a while that we have been needing The Thames Valley TRAFFIC thread!.

So here it is - an opportunity to put up any news of road closures, re-sufacing, changes to the one-way system, new traffic lighting, car restrictions, bus and taxi lanes - in fact, anything practical to do with motoring about in our area!

I'd be grateful if this could be 'pinned' - any moderator please! - as I'll be keeping this up-to-date as best I can over the next couple of seasons or so ...
