When you think of our beautiful countryside, wonderful architecture, scientists, explorers, inventors, playwrights etc etc it is so sad that this isn't reflected in the national anthem which should be a celebration of our peoples and not one privileged individual. I will give Agadoo a miss though.

I don't see why Corbyn's beliefs can't be publicised and criticised. Although years away, he is now one of the most likely people in the country to be Prime Minister in the not too distant future, and personally I want to know about him and his values. This could affect his aims as opposition and potentially PM and what he could lead the country to. Much better than the pre-election media just criticising someone because he couldn't eat a sandwich without looking ridiculous. |

The first record you ever bought mate, its like your first kiss, you never forget it But I'm in total agreement with everyone who slates our national anthem. It must be the worst national anthem in the world. A horrible dirge of a tune with cringy lyrics. And as for Corbyn, I'd like to see him stick to his guns and refuse to sing it in the future. |

I would like to see him stick to his guns too Keith but he has received so much hostility with the right wing press distorting the truth and making out he was being disrespectful to those serving in the war that he probably felt he had little choice but to conform. Its fine to criticise him but distorting the truth is another matter. |

I'm starting another box Mike, that ones getting too long. Isn't Corbyn renowned for being anti monarchy, and pretty much a pacifist? If so, why would he sing the national anthem? I'm not convinced he was doing anything more than making a point about what he really believes, regardless of what he has said to try and wriggle out of it. Be your own man Mr Corbyn, then you'll get something no other politician deserves, Respect. |

YouGov Scottish Election Poll - Constituency/List SNP - 51/45 (±0/±0) Lab - 21/20 (-1/±0) Con - 19/19 (+1/+1) Lib - 5/5 (+1/+1) Grn - 1/6 (-1/±0) UKIP - 2/3 (+2/±0) SSP - 0/3 (-2/±0) Conservatives are closing in on Labour in Scotland. What's happening is that people on the right of the Labour party have moved to the Conservatives - with Labour already losing a lot of its support to the SNP. It's hard to tell if this is going to be a consistent finding though. The ScotlandVotes seat calculator suggests that Labour would lose all of their constituency seats in Scotland - to the SNP and Conservatives: SNP - 70 (65/5) Lab - 25 (0/25) Con - 25 (6/19) Grn - 5 (0/5) Lib - 4 (2/2) Edited by Clyde1998, 15 Oct 2015, 03:44 PM.
