For serious? Clegg was useless. They had nearly 60 MPs when he became leader. He left them with 8 whilst managing to totally wreck any prospect of electoral reform into the bargain. An unmitigated disaster of a leader. He was so bad that folk like me couldn't bare vote for them whilst he was in charge....it appears hundreds of thousands felt the same way.

Even when the Lib Dems were at the peak of their support in 2010, they lost seats. What do the Lib Dems actually stand for anyway?

Under Ashdown and Kennedy there were a centre left party. It was one that I voted for because in reality they were to the left of Labour. I have always felt proportional representation was a much fairer system and of course they believed in that.
The great chance they had of getting a referendum on PR came during coalition negotiations in 2010 and Clegg even managed to blow that.

Yes I know Clegg turned out to be useless, that's why I used the word "potential" to try and emphasis that point. But when he became leader of the Lib Dems he was being hailed as their Messiah. I doubt the likes of Lamb or Farron will be greeted with such high expectation.

I think Burnham is a straight talker. I don't think he will ever be Prime Minister but reckon he will stabilise the party and prevent them falling further back in five years time.
I reckon he could go all the way Mike. If he gets the job and can get the party back on track, he could well lead them to an election success in 2020.

Another five years of the tories hammering the British people should make the job a whole lot easier. And I imagine Cameron and his gang will slowly start working their way up the social ladder of who their draconian cuts will effect, so there will be more people ready to kick them out of office.
This is the problem the Tories will have now. If they really start going mad with the cuts (More than already Mike!) then they'll be handing the 2020 election to Labour on a sliver platter.

I'm not so sure Steve. If the economy is perceived to be doing well most folk will stick what they already know. A lot of people hardest hit probably don't vote anyway and if they do it won't be Tory.

I do despair of this country. Our window cleaner came around today and told me he had voted UKIP and wanted all the immigrants out. He also mentioned that the SNP might start winning seats in the north of England. I politely pointed out that they were a Scottish party only!!!

Wasn't Andy Burnham the one who attacked the Conservatives under the fact that they had made 6% of the NHS privatised, when in fact 4.4% of the NHS had been privatised under the Labour government, of which he had briefly been the head for NHS/health.

I'd suggest the Tories are going a whole lot further down the privatisation route. Let's not forget Cameron said there would be no top down reorganisation of the NHS five years ago........and lied. I know which party I would trust on the NHS....the party that set it up in the first place and that sure ain't the Tories.

Just had a look at who voted for which party based on age. Once again the grey vote clearly went for the Tories. In all other age groups Labour won more of the vote except for the 45/54 group where they were neck and neck with the Tories.

Memo to the next Labour leader. Focus on the old timers!!!!!
