Skoda the cat's lucky escape after getting stuck in car engine during trip to the vet

Skoda the cat escaped into the engine and clung on as it was driven across town

A Reading cat lost a few of his nine lives after becoming stuck in the engine of a car during a trip to the vet. Skoda and his brother Purrgeot were in the Beechwood Vet car park about to be neutered when the cat carrier holding them both broke.

Owner Karen Rivers, of Redlands Road, managed to grab Purrgeot, but Skoda was too fast.

She said: "My heart sank as despite a long search by the vet staff we couldn't find Skoda. I knew we didn't stand much chance of finding him as he was still so wild."

She eventually gave up and went back home to make missing posters.

A few hours later she returned to the vets and as she parked up she heard a little meow. Karen said:

"With my heart in my mouth I popped the bonnet and froze as I spotted a small white nose jammed into the engine! It took four nurses, a receptionist and a vet a whole hour to get Skoda to move. He shot out, under another car then disappeared up the road with us all in hot pursuit."

The group chased him over three garden fences before a nurse managed to grab him safe and sound.

Karen said: "I'd driven on the motorway at 70mph, roundabouts, stopped at various places and he must have been terrified. How he hung on I can't imagine. I think Skoda would consider that he'd had the worst day of his life, especially as they neutered him to add insult to injury! I'd like to thank Beechwood Vets for everything they did to rescue Skoda. Today he is happily pottering about with his brother and has a bright future...minus a couple of his nine lives!"

'Hope Ernie behaves better!

Oh my! What a lucky escape he had. Glad he was ok whe they found him. Don't think Ernie would ever get himself in to that situation luckily. For a start, he hates the noise of car engines so won't go near them, and secondly he wouldn't fit as he's far too big!

Funny thing. I saw this cat one on FB today:

Animal Search UK

AMAZING NEWS!
After 322 days missing, Bum Bum is home, following a call to our hotline from a lady who thought she had Bum Bum. She was only about a mile from home. Bum Bum is none the worse for her 'holiday' and her owner says she is now back at home as if nothing had happened!
Another great story to show you should never give up hope.
Welcome home Bum Bum.We are so happy to have helped get you home xxxx

Now call me old fashioned, but I reckon this cat was teaching its owner a lesson for calling it Bum Bum !!! Can you imagine what the neighbours must think when they call the cat in at night? ;) :D :D
