Can Aston Villa Survive?

Aston Villa are bottom of the premiership for Christmas and after 17 of 38 games they have a paltry 7 points (1 win and 4 draws). They are 5 points behind 2nd bottom Sunderland and ten points off 4th bottom and safety.
Even in this position new manager Remi Garde thinks they can do it and believes Aston Villa need to win 10 of their remaining 21 games to stand a chance of avoiding relegation.

So then can a team that rock bottom really turn it around and survive?.

Haven't got a strong enough first team, never mind squad for the season.

Unless Villa improve massively in January, they're doomed. They're currently level with the number of points Derby had at this stage during that season they got eleven points...

Think it's fair to say they've a bit more talent than Derby, but still not enough to survive.

They should win 4 or 5 games at least, they have to find some spirit to pick up a few wins between now and the end of the season, even if it's because of new signings.

But talk of needing to win 10 games? Would take Liverpool winning 10 :P

This is the points that the 4th bottom (just avoided relegation) have had over last ten seasons in the premiership.
2014/15 38pts
2013/14 36pts
2012/13 39pts
2011/12 37pts
2010/11 40pts
2009/10 35pts
2008/09 35pts
2007/08 36pts
2006/07 38pts
2005/06 38pts

So as a minimum they will need 9 wins to get to that lowest safe total of 35 or simply put they need to win half their remaining games as a minimum and even then it isn't a given. Personally they should aim for 40 pts which is another 32 pts or 11 wins from the remaining 19 games.

Sorry to say this but start planning now Villa as you will be a Championship side next season.

Villa compared to the worst six teams in Premier League history (in 38 game seasons).

In a word, no.

They look like a team that know they are doomed. They show little fight and don't have the class to get out of it.

They're aiming for 10 wins from their last 19 games? To put that in perspective, the top team Arsenal have won 12 out of their first 19 games. It's not going to happen.

Could be the team to threaten our 106.
