FA Cup Upsets Game – Round Three One-off Weekend Game Here’s a fun competition, and it’s a one-off game, so make a prediction and then sit back and enjoy! It’s been done a dozen times now, so we know it works. It’s a game orientated to a few special friendly forums, namely: Reading - Royals Rendezvous Blackpool - Back Henry Street Peterborough – The Posh Forum Sunderland – Black Cat Chat Newcastle – Toon Forum Watford – WFC Forums WBA – Baggies Zone Leeds – LUFC Talk Liverpool – Talk the Reds Bournemouth - CourtOffside How do I play, you’ll ask?! Well, have a look at the teams on the FA Cup Round THREE programme below - there are Premier, Championship, League 1, League 2, and National Conference teams included on the list. I'd like to invite you to call for FIVE matches where you see a possible upset on the cards! By upset, it must obviously be a lower league side winning (or at least drawing) against a higher league side. You haven't got to give any score, simply guess the match of the successful 'smaller clubs' or ‘minnow’ teams! If you get it wrong doesn’t matter at all, you don’t get awarded points for that particular game or games – and that will surely apply to all of us. So … how do you get points? If in your selected games a lower league side does indeed win you have 3 points. If the lower league side force a replay then it is 1 point (note - doesn’t matter if they later lose the replay). But ... bonus - if you choose an real ‘upset’ (win/draw) – a team from a league TWO tiers OR MORE lower their opponents then those points are DOUBLED. To help you, use the asterisks by the games list to make an easy-peasy selection: one asterisk (*) = one tier difference / two asterisks (**) = two or more tier differences / Meanwhile “ --- ” on the list of matches means this prediction is not valid, don’t include these options as it’s no cup upset if teams are from the same tier league! This is the real betting man's stuff - the more you risk with tier difference the more points you get, but there again, an upset is much less likely!! So you need to weigh things up!! THIRD ROUND DRAW Friday 8th January 2016 ** Exeter v Liverpool Saturday 9th January 2016 ** Wycombe v Aston Villa --- Arsenal v Sunderland * Birmingham v Bournemouth * Brentford v Walsall --- Bury v Bradford * Colchester v Charlton ** Doncaster v Stoke ** Eastleigh v Bolton ** Everton v Dag & Red ** Hartlepool v Derby --- Huddersfield v Reading --- Hull v Brighton ** Ipswich v Portsmouth --- Leeds v Rotherham --- Middlesbrough v Burnley ** Newport v Blackburn ** Northampton v MK Dons --- Norwich v Man City --- Nottm Forest v QPR * Peterborough v Preston --- Sheff Wed v Fulham --- Southampton v Crystal Palace --- Watford v Newcastle * West Brom v Bristol City * West Ham v Wolves ** Man Utd v Sheff Utd Sunday 10th January 2016 ** Oxford Utd v Swansea --- Carlisle v Yeovil ** Chelsea v Scunthorpe --- Tottenham v Leicester * Cardiff v Shrewsbury Have fun - answers on this thread please - CAREFUL closing time BEFORE KICK-OFF of the first Friday match [8th January] Points and the placings for this comp will appear on this thread within a couple of days after the last match for this round has been played … I’ll give both the complete points for your forum, and the top dozen overall positions on all forums together for even more prestigious bragging rights! Good luck! daib0 |

Liverpool brought it back to 2-2 - although they have a very large injury list and played quite a few teenagers tonight. |

An excellent start for those having faith in Exeter – that ended a draw with a two-or-more tier difference, so that’s a real nice handy TWO POINT start for: Number 13 |

Has the FA cup lost all credibility now? Didn't the commentator say "Liverpool equalised against the run of play against Exeter" ... ? |

He might have done, but I think that the bigger clubs don't take the FA Cup seriously until the later rounds. They couldn't care less if they win it any more (I mean that management/ownership, rather than fans). |

It actually had more to do with Liverpool's injuries that they fielded a young side, Enrique was player at centre back and he can't even get a game at left back. Nobody wants to get knocked out, so it's taken serious enough, but in a 50 + game season, surely it's understandable to play a couple players who will be looking for a place in the first team squad soon. Ilori, Sinclair, Smith, Bogdan (let himself down) and Randall will be looking for some more first team minutes. Not giving out, just saying Coming from Liverpool's point of view. 13 first team injuries. A crisis is right. |
