And have to say I think I saw him at his very best Mike. It was the time of Ziggy Stardust at the height of the Glam Rock period. At least from my point of view, I loved all his 70's music. I got a bit picky about his stuff from 1980 onwards. |

Strangely enough I haven't seen that many live acts daib0. I have a few favourites which I've seen many times, but overall I've probably only seen about a dozen different bands/singers in my lifetime. My biggest musical disappointment is that I never saw the Beatles. I'd have loved that. I had a few school friends who were lucky enough to see them, but that was because they had older siblings or parents who were a bit more switched on than mine. Both my Mum and Dad were a bit fuddy duddy when it came to music. |

Unfortunately due to my age I missed David Bowie's golden period, would have loved to see him in concert when he was in his prime. I think my first memory of him was learning 'Space Oddity' on the guitar for the cool chord change that happens halfway through. I would never say he was absolute favourite artist, but he certainly came out with some lasting tunes. Favourites for me are 'The Man Who Sold The World' (great cover by Nirvana as well), 'Life On Mars' and 'Modern Love'. More recently, he did some interesting work with movie director David Fincher, particularly on the soundtrack for Seven, starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. We've certainly lost a talented musician. RIP. |

If you haven't heard any of his early 70's stuff 13, get on youtube and check out The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and Hunky Dory. My two favourite Bowie albums. Edit. Diamond Dogs is pretty good too. Edited by SuffolkRoyal, 11 Jan 2016, 08:56 PM.

Agreed Keth. I !oved so much of his 70s stuff but was not so keen on the 80's stuff. He went a bit funky and away from the glam rock stuff. However he changed with the time. Not many managed that. Edited by Zip, 12 Jan 2016, 11:38 AM.

I can't start new threads but do just want to say how sad it is that Alan Rickman has just passed away at 69 too. A brilliant actor. Two true stars have fallen this week. |

You've always had this problem Mike. I just can't understand why you can't start new threads. Its another shock death, again at a relatively young age. He wasn't a particular favourite of mine, but he was a very good actor and widely respected RIP. |
