Can Gary Neville take Valencia down

Don't laugh here I am being serious.

He has taken umbrage at media questions that fans want him to leave saying it is the media not the fans.

Now I don't want to run the guy down......but I will. He couldn't manage a team of 9 year olds, never mind a fully fledged professional team in a top division.
His record though is second to none though.....there is no one in La Liga with as bad a record!

Gary Neville still awaits his first La Liga win after 8 matches. What makes him show up as poor, which he is, is that every other team apart from Real Betis have won at least one game in their last 8 La Liga games. And not to run Betis down they have won 1 in the last ten.....Valencia haven't. Yep that's right they haven't won in over ten la liga games.
They are dropping down the league as Neville drags em down with him.
They are now sitting in 12th spot and only 6 points off an automatic relegation spot.

So can Neville do what he is cut out to do and get Valencia relegated?

He's done OK in the Spanish cup where Valencia have got through to the semis, but that is a poor second to the league, EVEN MORE than in Britain!

His image has also been aloof up to now; he looks grumpy and austere, has hardly responded to questions in post-match interviews, and has not yet said a word of Spanish, not even a token 'buenos días' or 'adios'. That is seen as a sign of lack of commitment.

At a press conference last week a question worded in English as to whether he would continue for long received an absolute refusal to answer ...

by the way Darlo, obviously you're a trusted regular now, if you prefer to post topics in 'General Football' then fine, as you like, wherever you like, OK?! It's also nice to have topics in 'Rivals but Friends' so no problem either way my side

Oh dear! From daibo's insider information it paints an even worse picture than Darlo thought (I think)! 😊

This weekend's defeat interview is only in YouTube in Spanish, but go back a bit and you'll see what I'm saying about the awkwardness of language here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNPk4JnfwKM
Also, he's always - every game! - making excuses or or saying what needs to be done. Yet it is simply not getting done!!

It's seems a stark conrtast to when he was doing his punditry on Sky. He seemed knowledgeable and smiled a bit and joked. Now he just seems a miserable git but i guess that is the pressure of management especially when you can't buy a win.

Should he resign now after that 7-0 thrashing by Barcelona? An ex-player thinks so.

Just goes to show it's easier to talk about the game than it is coach it! I can understand he wants to stretch himself, but he was on such a cushy number with Sky with no pressure, and he's very good at it.

I think this shows that the Spanish league is dominated by the big three at the moment. The other clubs don't have a chance in competing with the financial power that these three have - particularly Barca and Real.
