It doesn't work like that daib0. He's 28 years old. Regardless of whether she's just under 16, or whether she's 13, what is a man of his age even doing getting involved with young girls? I would think his admissions so far are enough to ensure a prison sentence. In prison he'll get counselling and be put on an offender management course, but I doubt it will change his behaviour. |

The only thing I can say that might change my viewpoint is whether she lied about her age and/or he thought she was over 16. In this case the proof is in the pudding with the messages stating she had just turned 15. Whether or not she looked older was besides the point. I'm more surprised that his missus is staying with him through it all.... |

As they say, love can be blind; it can also seem stupid. But the truth of it may be that she is waiting a bit before making any formal actions. She may well be back with her folks, or he may be out of the house at this point. |

I'm thinking that his pay packet has been discontinued. Even if not, I expect the courts Over There are just about as considerate of spousal and child support payments as they are Over Here. I just expect that his income will soon (if it has not already) become much less of a consideration. I'd think the contract termination would be For Cause. |

I can see Daib0's point. Some 15 year old girls are sexually experienced and know what they are doing. I don't know whether that was true of this girl though. However Johnson was stupid getting involved with someone so young but I genuinely don't consider this to be as serious as the depraved abuse of younger children. He will pay a heavy penalty for his recklessness and rightly so. |

Regardless of the girl's actions, his sacking was related to him using his stature in perverse ways I believe. Much like the Ched Evans case, I believe that an example should be made of this as has been done so that it teaches youngsters in the game how to behave when the money and attention increases in your career. Having said that, Evans is currently progressing a claim through the courts of having his conviction overturned (the evidence against him is circumstantial so I feel he has a decent chance of winning it) and he is in a different position to Johnson, having served in jail. I doubt they will do the same with Adam Johnson. I feel what they should learn from the Evans case is how to deal with him after this episode. It's all well and good punishing him in the short term, but he should be allowed to work his way back into the game. I am horrified by how Evans has been treated since being released from prison, unable to find a club due to fan and political pressure. |

If the evidence i've seen on twitter is true, he surely won't avoid prison. Evans one will always be a mystery as it was largely one persons word against anothers without much evidence (at least none that has been made public) where as some of the supposed texts Johnson had sent, if real, give him nothing to hide behind. |
