We hear in the FA Cup two terms for the last 8 - Round 6 or the Quarter-Finals. These seem to interchange at will - for example on BBC Sport last couple of days FA Cup: Chelsea travel to Everton in quarter-finals - http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35625935 THE EMIRATES FA CUP - SIXTH ROUND - http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/fa-cup/fixtures Which is the more 'correct' ? Or which term do you prefer? Just wondered ... |

I tend to say Quarter Finals. Most people seem to. |

perhaps you're right, but a generation or two back I reckon it was the other way round

This is the 6th time we've made the quarter-finals, but we've only qualified for the 6th round five times - our first quarter-final in 1901 was actually the third round proper. So I'll say I prefer quarter-finals

The FA officially call it the Sixth Round, but the round contains the last eight in the competition (ie Quarter-Finals) - so both are correct.
