Knowing how abysmal BT are I reckon the locals had it right.

Now then Keith. The WitchFinder General with dear old Vincent Price. Once of my favourite old school horror films. They don't make them like that any more.
Great film Mike. I have the DVD and its still quite a shocker, especially considering its based on factual characters and events. And this area was his stomping ground.
I remember seeing the film when I was around 12 on the ATV Appointment With Fear slot late on a Friday night. Loved it.
Have seen it since including last year. Some great cinematography and lots and lots of blood curdling screams. Unusually depressing ending too.
Cracking film.

I've got a biography of Hopkins and his witch hunts. In the film John Stern is portrayed as his henchman, but was actually another witch finder who collaborated with Hopkins.

Hopkins preyed on people in the Suffolk/Essex area and Stern in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

In the film, the final scene in Lavenham was actually filmed in Lavenham. Its hardly changed over the years and the old guildhall looks exactly the same to this day.
