A hobbled Reading club makes a quick turn-around and heads off to face Huddersfield Town on Tuesday might after Saturday's draw against Fulham. Brian McDermott has said that Hal Robson-Kanu, Matej Vydra and Paul McShane are all out for Huddersfield, and are questionable for Friday's Cup Quarterfinal against Crystal Palace (I think there will be some recoveries before Friday, but that's just me - McD is the gaffer). Even though we fans had wanted (and expected) better than a draw against Fulham, it does make the current run now 6 matches unbeaten and only 1 loss in 10 matches over all competitions, which is quite good. Eight goals scored and seven conceded over the last 6 Championship matches (2 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss) puts those runs into a bit more perspective, while 12 for to 3 against over the last 3 Cup ties looks very much better. Huddersfield, 7 points (and 3 teams) above the drop zone, look to have their season in hand as well - little chance of last-day panics, but no chance of post-season action. With 2 wins, a draw and 3 losses over their last 6 Championship matches, they are also moving toward the finish with thoughts of what might have been. Can Reading get an away result against a club seven spots below them in the Table? Allowing for a likely focus on Friday rather than Tuesday, and Readings' past performances against lower-standing clubs, it is hardly nailed on - what's your forecast? Points System - 10 points - correct result e.g. you predict Huddersfield 1-3 Reading and the result is Huddersfield 1-3 Reading (includes an exact draw prediction; draw result & correct score). 7 points - correct outcome with correct goal difference e.g. you predict Huddersfield 1-3 Reading and the result is Huddersfield 0-2 Reading. 5 points - correct outcome with incorrect goal difference e.g. you predict Huddersfield 1-3 Reading and the result is Huddersfield 0-5 Reading (this result includes a draw with the wrong score e.g. you predict a 1-1 draw and the result is 0-0). 1 point - if you get the prediction completely wrong, you still get one point for taking part! Bonus Points You get bonus points for three things: 5 points - correct half-time score 2 points - correct goalscorers, for each goalscorer predicted that does indeed score (NOTE: this season you get points for correctly predicting the goalscorers of only Reading FC. You only get the points if Reading score the same amount of goals as you predicted or more.) 5 points - correctly predicting the 'bonus question' within the specified tolerance. If one person comes closest to the actual value, that person will receive 7 points, but if two or more are both equally close, only the 5 points will be awarded. Please put the score in this format: Huddersfield 1-3 Reading (HT: 0-2) [Home x-y Away format] Norwood Cooper Kermorgant ...followed by your answer to the 'bonus question'... How many total shots (sum of both Reading and Huddersfield shots [not shots on target]) will the BBC stat report show for this match? Bonus Points will be awarded for a forecast no more than one shot off the sum for the two clubs. Good luck with your predictions and to the Royals come Tuesday! I'm going for 0-0 all round as I have 0 clue as to who will play and, well, it seems a sensible choice. Huddersfield 0 - 0 Reading HT 0-0 Bonus: 18 shots |
