Having gone to my first one in 1967 at Windsor Racecourse before it moved to Reading my next one was in 1979 when bands like The Cure,Police and that ilk were on.But also was a few heavy metel bands like Saxon and Iron Maiden.A year later was my favourite with UFO and Whitesnake headlining.Still love it and watch it on BBC and I know my daughter and son in law are wetting themselves over Muse this year but what was your best year and anyone going this year.Which do you prefer Glastonbury or Reading.Cant wait to meet up with William and Suffolk to go to this years, hope they bring plenty of Stella with them :D

I was there in 1988...selling the official T-shirts (meant I got to stay in the marquee and had a back stage pass) ;)

Don't remember much about Friday, but remember Meatloaf getting bottled off stage (same thing happen to Deacon Blue on Sunday) and Bonnie Tyler following him on stage and shouting "come on you f***ers" and once the bottle barrage had subsided, went on to deliver a fantastic set.

Starship were surprisingly good, but Squeeze were a different class!!!

The whole line up for the 3 days in 88 was a bit strange by all accounts. Seems like the festival was in 'transition' before Mean Fiddler took over and turned things around.

Remains my first and only Reading festival to date...who knows if I'll return??

Eight arrested at Reading Festival after spate of tent thefts

POLICE are warning festival-goers to keep their valuables secure after a spate of thefts last night. Eight people were arrested yesterday (Thursday) for stealing valuables from tents and three for pick-pocketing. Police are recommending festival-goers not to leave valuables in tents or cars and to mark property with names and post codes. Crowds flooding in to Little John's Farm can keep up-to-date on what's going on by following the police's new Twitter profile @TVP_ReadingFest.

Thames Valley Police crime prevention advice for Reading Festival:

Don't leave anything valuable in your car.
Leave your glove compartment empty and open.
Split your cash and cards into two stashes so that if one lot is lost or stolen, you have a back-up.
Don't put a padlock on your tent as this suggests valuable property is inside.
Don't leave any valuables inside your tent when you go to see a band.
Store your valuables in your sleeping bag with you at night.
Don't bury your valuables outside your tent - you never know who may be watching.
Mark your property and your tent with your name and postcode in a big and obvious place. This will significantly reduce the risk of them being stolen.
To make life harder for thieves, leave your tent untidy so that there is no obvious items to grab quickly.
Bring only the cash cards you need.
Make a note of your bank's emergency number to call if your cards are stolen.

If you need medicines with you onsite, keep them with you or keep them secure in the lockers

Can't stand Eminem. This is just my opinion of course, but for me, he epitomises everything that you see today in Britain's Chav culture.
