Barack Obama is in Cuba to meet Raul Castro. It's the first time in almost 90 years that an American leader has set foot upon the island. Mr Obama will meet President Raul Castro - but not retired revolutionary leader Fidel Castro - and the pair will discuss trade and political reform. Of course, the two embassies are up and running too.

My question is if the American leadership should be worried about shaking hands too closely - what if things don't progress in Cuba and they are left cursing their luck? Or is the opening up of Cuba now an irreversible process so better to be in there at the forefront?

Thoughts?
