After an away win on their return from the International Break, the Royals return to Madejski Stadium to face Nottingham Forest Tuesday evening. Forest is currently 16th in the Championship Table, with 46 points collected from 39 matches played (1.18 points per match), while Reading sit 13th, with 48 points earned from 38 matches played (1.26 points per match). Recent form is presented in Number 13's excellent write-up, but neither club has been particularly successful of late. Reading's only loss in 2016 at what we would like to call Fortress Madejski was to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, but the record of only 2 wins and 5 draws in the Championship over that period might best qualify the stadium as a Prepared Position - no Fortress! Now a nice win against Forest might go a good way toward upgrading that designation - can the Royals pull that off? Make your prediction, then we shall see! Points System 10 points - correct result e.g. you predict Reading 3-1 Forest and the result is Reading 3-1 Forest (includes an exact draw prediction; draw result & correct score); 7 points - correct outcome with correct goal difference e.g. you predict Reading 3-0 Forest and the result is Reading 4-1 Forest (this result includes a draw with the wrong score e.g. you predict a 1-1 draw and the result is 0-0); 5 points - correct outcome with incorrect goal difference e.g. you predict Reading 2-0 Forest and the result is Reading 5-1 Forest; 1 point - if you get the prediction completely wrong, you still get one point for taking part! Bonus Points You get bonus points for three things: 5 points - correct half-time score 2 points - correct goalscorers, for each goalscorer predicted that does indeed score (NOTE: this season you get points for correctly predicting the goalscorers of only Reading FC. You only get the points if Reading score the same amount of goals as you predicted or more. This prevents prediction of ridiculous scorelines for more points.) 5 points - correctly predicting the 'bonus question' within the specified tolerance. If one person comes closest to the actual value, that person will receive 7 points, but if two or more are both equally close, only the 5 points will be awarded. Please put the score in this format: Reading 3-1 Forest (HT: 1-0) [Home x-y Away format] Williams Cooper Deniss ...followed by your answer to the 'bonus question'... What will be the total official attendance for this match, according to the BBC stats? Credit will be given for a prediction within one thousand of the posted BBC statistic. Best of luck to you and the Royals in their Championship campaign! |

Sorry for running late - this has been a very busy few days for me, and there will be a few more this week as well (doing a series of presentations at a local school ["Step right up and see the Engineer, live and without obvious restraints..." ], plus some other events not typical for this retired fellow). I will also miss the early portion of the match, as my presentation starts at 1 PM (19:00 there) and will run 2+ hours.Reading 2-0 Forest (HT: 1-0) Williams Cooper Bonus: 13,286.666... (several Forest fans to leave early... )
