About every professional manager in the land is sacked from 95% of appointments except when they do the dirty by jumping across to another, that doesn't mean anything!

Agreed David. Yes McDermott will eventually be sacked. It goes with the job. |

Well you're the stats man daib0 and I'm really not interested enough to check up on the figures you have quoted, but I accept that it is high. But not being a very good manager to begin with must go a long way to the ultimate decision being reached. |

McDermott has a very good track record at Championship level with us Keith. He certainly isn't a bad manager for me. I didn't think it was right that he came back but I look back at his first spell in charge with some very fond memories. |

Disagree Mike. I've never rated him as a manager, good or otherwise. He seems like a nice enough bloke, and he was a good scout, but he's not got the tactical nous, nor the right demeanour, to be considered a good manager in my view. I know you'll throw the "He got us promoted" argument back at me. But careful dissection of that particular period can produce a lot of pro's and con's. |

You are a hard man to please Keith. He also took us to the play off final the previous season. That's pretty exceptional. |

Took us from 22nd to 10th in half a season the season before that too. My main criticism of McDermott is that he isn't a good enough manager tactically for the Prem. But you have to worry about getting their first.. |

Indeed and that half season after he took over from Rodgers was uplifting with Siggy emerging. We also had two FA Cup quarter finals after many decades of nothing He was out of his depth in the PL but let's face it he spent a fraction of what was needed to make us competitive. Had the club gone all out to buy Siggy in January 2013 we may have survived as the end of that month we had just moved out of the bottom three |

I take nothing away from him for that for those achievements Mike, but, as I said, there are a few discussion points to that success. And that could probably justify a thread all of its own. |

This. Given the current state of the playing squad; talented, but obviously lacking somewhere in the motivation/attitude department, is it realistic to think Brian may need more than another full season to get things going the way he wants? I have to nail my colours to the mast. I'm not a McDermott fan and never have been, but if he can get us up in the next couple of seasons, then we can see if he's learnt from his mistakes of the past. |
