That's a really small headstone. Incredible to think it is so incongruous given what he achieved in the game. He was from a very different era and as with Bobby Moore the FA treated him shabbily. I remember as a young lad hearing Ramsey had been sacked. It still came as a shock even after failing to beat Poland the previous November. That Poland game will always be with me. At the time Poland had no track record at all and it was inconceivable England would fail to beat them. It was a dark night that night at Wembley. |
