The only top English manager I would want is Allardyce, I think he is a very good motivator, which IMO is the main thing we need from the manager. It's clear we have the quality, they just aren't motivated enough to actually do anything with it.
You wouldn't want his style of play though.
Me neither. He's a good 'bread and butter' manager, but not good enough for the England job.
Agreed. England have to do better than Allardyce.From what I heard this morning the FA will make Southgate interim coach. In other words they are far from convinced he is the right man but will see how he goes.
That is not the way to go.

Who Cares?

Lost interest in England

10/10 wins in qualifying only national team to do so.. (i know again 3rd rate teams but still)

Beat

France 2-0
Germany 3-2
Portugal 1-0

A few of the main powerhouse's of the international game.

All within the last 12 months..

Top 2 goalscorer's in the Premierleague

Then the Euro's comes round a major tournament...........

and we scrap through an easy group finishing 2nd (poss easiest)

Then meet Iceland who we beat 6-1 last time we played them....

and lose 2-1 :blink:

Embarrassing, doesn't add up. Something mentally wrong with the English players?!? Manager?!?

Not even the only time happens every tournament...

Euro2016 = Last 16
World Cup 2014 = Group Stage
Euro2012 = = Quarter-Finals
World Cup 2010 = Group Stage
Euro2008 = Not Qualified
World Cup 2006 = Quarter-Finals
Euro2004 = Quarter-Finals
World Cup 2002 = Quarter-Finals
Euro2000 = Group Stage
World Cup 2002 = Last 16

Manager won't change the mentality of the English team they are just bang average! :X

perhaps too much money in the English game, the players are so filthy rich there's not enough incentive to do well for the national team ... ?!

I reckon that is more so efficient tactics for efficient spending. Cheaper to buy a big brute than a tidy dribbler.

Haven't seen Sunderland this season but surely they can't be playing long ball with Jermain Defoe up top?

England manager: Is it the best or worst job in sport?

The Football Association has started its search for a new England manager - the 12th man to take the job full time since the country enjoyed its only success under Sir Alf Ramsey at the 1966 World Cup.

Roy Hodgson's successor will take over an England team badly damaged by the humiliation of an exit to the minnows of Iceland at the last-16 stage of Euro 2016.

Hodgson, 68, cut a broken and fragile figure at his final news conference in France, another victim of what some are starting to see as the impossible job of ending England's years of hurt.

The role of England manager is full of possibilities but awash with potential downfalls - so is it the best or worst job in sport?

Interesting to see...

2016 - Knocked out by Iceland
2014 - Knocked out by Uruguay & Costa Rica
2012 - Knocked out by Italy
2010 - Knocked out by Germany
2008 - Knocked out by Croatia & Russia
2006 - Knocked out by Portugal
2004 - Knocked out by Portugal
2002 - Knocked out by Brazil

England haven't been knocked out by, supposedly, weaker teams - until the last two tournaments...

Lost interest in England years ago when the Wally with the brolly couldn't get us t qualify

Nothing changes, overpaid over-hyped players who with the merest hint of pressure, want their mummies.

Pathetic pile of individuals led by the least deserving, and least respected England captain ever, and a clueless incompetent as manger. Still at least with £10m for his 3 years of abject failure in his pocket he can enjoy retirement.

ICELAND KNOCK ENGLAND OUT OF EURO 2016

Iceland have knocked England out of Euro 2016 in the most predictable 'shock' exit of all time. The True Geordie reacts to the news and gives his opinion on manager Roy Hodgson, the players and the F.A.
