Do you feel safe in Reading? Read this ... Get Reading http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/reading-berkshire-news/man-seriously-injured-after-knife-12257084 Man seriously injured after knife attack in South Reading Three men were attacked in Imperial Way on Monday, November 21 but only one required hospital treatment A man was seriously injured after he was attacked at knifepoint in South Reading. The assault took place at around 12.10am on Monday, November 21 when three men - all in their 30s - were walking along Imperial Way near to the junction of Worton Drive. The group were then approached by two men who produced knives and attacked them. One of the men was seriously injured and taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital but his injuries were not thought life-threatening. He has since been discharged. The other two men managed to escape and raise the alarm at nearby premises. During the attack the offenders made off with a blue and white striped Adidas rucksack. The first man is described as in his late 20s, 5ft 7ins, with a slim build while the second is also described as in his late 20s, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins, of medium build. Both were wearing black hooded jackets, and black jeans. Investigating officer, Detective Constable Adrian Counsell, of Force CID based at Reading , said: "We are appealing for anyone who has information about this incident to come forward. We would appeal to anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone who recognises the men from their description to come forward. Also, if you have seen two men running off with a blue and white striped Adidas bag to also come forward. I would ask anyone to contact Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101." If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11 Is Reading increasingly less safe than it used to be? |

An incident that could happen in any large town or city in the UK. I feel no less safe now than I did before reading this. Descriptions are a bit vague. Do we not reveal ethnicity anymore for fear of upsetting lefties? |

When I was a teenager, having been born and raised in Henley, we were told to avoid Reading at night, and that was fifty years ago. But it wasn't Reading that needed avoiding, it was certain parts of Reading, just the same as any other town. |
