Hi All, I have asked permission for this, as I do appreciate that technically I am breaking a rule or two by "advertising", but have been told it is ok to do on this as a "trusted" poster - so many thanks to the team for that permission it is appreciated, and I will make it brief. Just to say, my son and his girlfriend (Andrew & Katie) have opened an escape room in Reading town centre (opposite Walkabout). https://www.timetrapescaperooms.com/ Clearly I am biased, but they really have genuinely aimed for excellence as their USP. They have gone to town on the game set and even the waiting room has two Chesterfield sofas in! They spent such hard work on it over about 3 months, making a grime filled unused office in a fab place. The game is REBELLION - 1136 - Their time warp sends you back to Medieval Britain and the aftermath of the death of King Henry I. You are aiding a rebel group in returning the English crown to its rightful monarch. If you have been to an escape room before, please give them a try. If not, why not start with them, it is great fun? They have already risen to 4 of 23 games to do in Reading on Tripadvisor and have loads of 5* ratings on it, as well as on Facebook. As well as helping them in their venture you will be supporting a fellow fan - Andrew is a mad keen Reading fan too! Feel free to discuss all things Royals with him! Ad over - and thanks all - please do let me know if you do have a go, and what you think! |

It's a puzzle room where you have to solve challenges to escape, normally within a given time limit |

If you remember (and it has just re-started again on C4 after a 20 year gap) Crystal Maze on telly, that is effectively what escape rooms are. Themed rooms where you have an hour to "escape" using clues and puzzles in the room. As you need at least two people (best about 4) to work together, quite often corporate clients will send teams of staff to them to get them team bonding. |

This looks like a brilliant idea - it appears to be a good puzzle and problem solving experience. I'm surprised that so few of these appear to exist, given the potential that these sort of games have. The amount of five star reviews on TripAdvisor suggests that people really enjoy this. I think this could make a very interesting birthday/Christmas present for some people that I know who will enjoy doing this. |

I remember looking around at the end of last year and being surprised how few escape rooms there were locally. Did my first one in Leicester a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sure one in Reading would be a likely destination for me in the future. |
