Inter-Forum Gamemaster!
Firstly, and above all, I wish all of you the best possible 2011. Any stories to tell of last night, eh?

Well, we’re more or less passing the half-way point of the season, though the bad weather of course means some teams are on different games played to others. Before the season started we surely all had sorts of different ideas as to who might make it this season (even did a little comp on it, but unfortunately won’t be back on 606 to publish results). Do any of you remember any prediction made before the season started? If so, any flops or accuracies come to mind? I did this selection on 606 way back in June:

1. Reading
2. Sheffield United

3. Bristol City
4. Nottingham Forest
5. Cardiff
6. Norwich

Obviously I was way out with Sheff Utd, and Bristol City I’d imagined with ‘Sir Steve’ at the helm, otherwise other teams are more-or-less up there. But on that little 606 competition the name of Boro and Leicester came up strong amonst a fair number, and neither are important factors as it’s turned out.

If I could re-do right now I’d go for, but still half guessing really:
1. QPR
2. Nottm Forest
3. Reading
4. Cardiff
5. Leeds
6. ?

Guesswork, ‘cos it’s all so close at present – so many teams separated by just a few points – wasn’t it Harper who said that Hull are still looking for the automatic promotion positions? I think it’s in Reading’s capabilities to get 2nd place, but with so many teams down our necks play-off would probably be more realistic.

So I’m going to try and pin you down for your TOP 6 come May – get your selections flying (and the reasons behind the choices, especially the more daring ones)!

1. QPR
2. Leeds
3. Cardiff
4. Swansea
5. Reading
6. Watford

QPR is self-explanatory, I expect them to spend this month.
I'd quite like Leeds to not go up but theyre on an excellent run of form so I reckon they could nick the last automatic spot.
Cardiff to miss out again, they do it every year and I think another year in the Championship beckons.
BR is doing well at Swansea and I think the board are going to back him with money this month.
If we keep playing like this, why not.
Watford as my long shot. Although a number of others could take the 6th spot.

Reading promoted through the play-offs...

I'm not hopeful that we will be bringing in any decent signings in January, if any at all. But so long as we don't sell any of our key players, and McDermott is able to keep this squad together, we have a good chance of grabbing a play off place. And I never thought I'd say that this season!

Reading would definitely be in there if we brought Austin

The Jason Roberts stare...
1. QPR
2. Swansea
3. Leeds
4. Cardiff
5. Reading
6. Norwich

- We'll get some more firepower in January and break into the top 6 properly.
- I think 2nd place'll come down to who can get proper form and several wins on the roll.

This is how I would bet if I was a betting man, as I can't see Reading sneaking into the play offs. It depends on the signings in January. Right now that is how I think it'll lie.

Of course I hope the royals make it to the play offs, but I think that we'll get edged by the likes of Forest and Leeds.

Could change depending on whether any clubs make some big signings in Jan but at the moment with my optimistic hat on I'll go for:

QPR
Cardiff

Norwich
Forest
Swansea

From the South Bank to the East Stand
1 QPR
2 Leeds

3 Reading
4 Norwich
5 Swansea
6 Forest

I've chosen QPR to win it partly because they've got the cash to buy players to make sure they go up and anything less would be a poor season considering the position they're in now.
Leeds will also go up with QPR. They've had a few poor results in the league recently with drawing games they should have won and losing to Cardiff. Having said that, Grayson has a good team up there that can only get better.

As for the play-offs, well, Norwich, Swansea and Forest have all been playing well and I expect them to last until the end. Obviously I'd love Reading to go up via the play-offs but it's never been something we've been good at!! On that basis, I think Norwich will be promoted via the play-offs.
