FORMULA 1871 – Predictions of Reading games Person by Person Guide of results today: Tronno – 5pts – Got the Reading win with the PERFECT score! Pea – 4 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, and also the Barnsley goal tally at ‘0’) suffolkated_royal - 4 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, and also the Barnsley goal tally at ‘0’) Basingstoke Royal - 4 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, and also the Barnsley goal tally at ‘0’) Maffff - 4 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, and also the Barnsley goal tally at ‘0’) Davyc – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) kingsley_royal – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) FrankMurphy – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) hearn161 – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) Foxxinator – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) Royal_Stoney – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) RFCOadesey – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) Readingfc88 – 3 pts (correctly predicted Reading win, but neither team correct number of goals) Godofwine – 1 pt (incorrect prediction, no goals correct) Biscuitmens Revenge – 0 pts (did not participate this game) Camb-Royal - 0 pts (did not participate this game) malimagic - 0 pts (did not participate this game) IMPORTANT: Please see in “Announcements and News” – http://royalsrendezvous.co.uk/topic/8456764/1/#new This gives the latest complete competition Table of current standings, with match-by-match break-down of point accumulations since the start of the competition. It's very close at the top of the table, as most of you have predicted both games as Reading wins and it's turned out like that. Let's see - when/if we have a blip or unexpected result who's really on form! Anyway, for today, hearty congrats to Tronno, who nailed the 1-0 score spot-on! REMINDER - how do you score points? Easy! – you score between 1 and 5 points for each match that is included, depending on how closely you have made your score prediction guess (before match day) correspond to the real full-time score at end of game. If you don’t enter that week you have ‘0’ points of course. So … the points awarded are: 5 points – absolute perfection (you get the right result plus the exact number of goals for both teams) 4 points - right result + correct goals for one team (e.g. you say 2-1 but it’s actually 3-1) 3 points - correct result only (but the number of goals for either side is off – e.g. you say Reading to win 2-0 but the result is 4-1) 2 points - wrong result (incorrect outcome) but at least you guess the correct number of goals for one of the teams (e.g. you predict Reading 1 Norwich 2, but final result is Reading 4 Norwich 2) 1 point - wrong result and no goals correct (enough said) 0 points - did not enter at all that week (no prediction received) - Abandoned game (highly unlikely of course) would be scored as a 2 point gift present for everyone who had made a prediction for that game! NEXT QUALIFYING GAME: Next weekend there is no Reading game, due to the international programme. So next match for competition is: READING V PORTSMOUTH – Saturday 2nd April Prediction thread will be up from Tuesday before the game … |

Yep, Tronno, had the points al correct - double-checked - but when did the actual post I copied and pasted the other team onto your name. I try to do this all meticulously, and do indeed go over points totals before posting, but for any doubt/possible errors always feel free to check me out! daib0 |

For next season can I make a suggestion... Rather than rewarding getting the number of goals scored by 1 team correct, it should be the margin that is rewarded. Twice now I have got the margin correct (3-1) this time I think i said and the actual result was 2-0. In theory someone who said 47-0 gets more points, just seems a bit weird. |

I would be winning if I'd started from the first game and kept my 4 point a game average

OK, several important things here: I've got no problems with Hayes coming in with the competition. Indeed I'd include his previous prediction - Portsmouth Prediction Thread Post #15 - if that's OK with other participants. It was made on the the Tuesday well before match day (sat) and his 2-1 Reading win prediction would be worth 4 pts (win + Reading goals correct). So, if no-one objects then make your prediction for Forest v Reading for Saturday and you're in (with last week's 4 pts as well). Reminder to all of basic setting up: http://royalsrendezvous.co.uk/topic/8456640/1 Well, it's simply the first post on first page of this very thread! Kingsley's point - a correct winning goal margen (let's say you put 3-1 but it turned out 2-0) should also be rewarded with 4 points in my opinion, but it's too (and not serious) late to change mid-stream, and there are only 6 qualifying games left. So for next season, OK?! My own point - I believe that next season there should be more reward for the perfect exact score which is the hardest thing of all to predict. I'd go for instead awarding 5-4-3-2-1 to award either 7-5-3-2-1 or 10-7-5-3-1. Maybe we could poll that before next season starts ... And next season, I'd like a volunteer in on this because I'm also handling match thread articles, plus almost daily calendar insertions and have got too much on my plate! We'll tlak in the close season, eh?! |
