LEEDS UTD v READING

Well, this is yet another big game! Win it, and we’re a very serious threat to Cardiff and Norwich for the second automatic promotion spot. We are enjoying the football, and it’s the other two mentioned teams who are surely sweating now, looking over their shoulders. Only at beginning of February we were bottom half of table.

Norwich play Ipswich away the day before – on Thursday. That’s an open ended game; titled as the ‘East Anglian Derby’ well anything might happen. Ipswich are certainly not playing bad themselves.

Then our game with Leeds on Friday, and the following day – Saturday – Cardiff have to play league leaders at home. QPR would virtually assure first place if they win, so they won’t be in Wales just on a day out ...

Our match:
Leeds are stuttering to be honest, and have let quite a lot of goals in at home, so I think I’m going for a back-to-back 3-1 – so:
Leeds 1 Reading 3

Over to you ...

Important note
This game yes COUNTS towards the new competition for members “FORMULA 1871 – Predictions of Reading games” !! Participating members should preferably leave their predictions here on this very thread (or possibly by PM to daib0). BY FRIDAY NIGHT PLEASE, NOT ON MATCH-DAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! Please make it clear, like Leeds x Reading x, and not just simply 3-2 or 1-4 so I know exactly which team is which in your goal tally!

Good luck to all … !

Although only the Reading game counts in our points total, I’d never-the-less be very interested to hear predictions for
Ipswich v Norwich (I go for 1-1)
Cardiff v QPR (I go for 0-2)
If it turns out like that, we’re second come next Saturday night!!

1-0 Leeds.

Think the QPR win and Ips/Nor draw are spot on. Hope so, anyway.

So … Reading have come up from since we were 12th place in the table on 17th February 2011. We haven’t, as some rival fans say, peaked early. We wouldn't even have got into top six, if we had 'only' had a normal-goodish type of run. Because we were well in double figures behind in points to all our main rivals in February. A mammoth charge was therefore necessary; I think the fine FA Cup run (beat WBA and Everton, very narrowly lost to Man city at their place) gave the team the added confidence that they needed to undertake this. They have had the talent all season - but have only recently got the act together in a big way. Before there were too many draws, and although a result is a result at end of day they had suffered some 'unfortunate' goals against such as v Cardiff and Norwich in the last minute of stoppage time (as I say though, they all count).

If Reading win at Leeds, and it's well possible, I'd hazard a guess that we would then see out comfortably every match after, thus finishing on 84 points. That's a tall order for Cardiff and Norwich, and what's more, I think both those clubs know that! They are sweating much more than us!!

Yes i think the autos lye on weather or not we beat Leeds.

Beat them and you've got to fancy us for autos looking at our remaining fixtures ...

Loose or draw and i think its play offs ... Which is very good considering where we were

We'd have to lose every game and Forest, Hull and Millwall could only drop a couple of points in their last four games for us to lose our play off place. Thats unlikely so a play off place is almost confirmed.

Obviously, 2nd spot has to be our aim, but, also, 3rd might be a valuable place to be if the FA smack QPR with a points deduction. I am not wishing that on Rangers, it would be a travesty if thats what happened, but, being mercenery about it, if someone has to capitalise on the misfortune of another club, why not us?

Another thing Suffolk, although our goal difference is great and is worth another point TBH, we are now also joint second TOP league scorers with 73 goals.

Funnily enough, top scorers are Leeds with 78 goals who we play, but their madness is that they've also let in some 68 - only Watford, Donny and bottom 3 have let in more.

So what with our finishing prowess right now, we only need half a security at the back and we should run away with it (the eternal optimist!)
