SWANSEA CITY v READING We’re there ! Wembley Stadium – a nice moment for manager Brian McDermott who was ‘nearly’ there a number of times as a player, but didn’t finally get the chance to take to the pitch. But a fantastic experience for the whole squad. Our lads can do it, keep the attacking philosophy going, and get a result. Who says so? Well, sorry, just old me, but I’m going boldly for: Reading 4 Swansea 2 With no prediction competition, and the match thread only to appear a few days before the event, apart from predictions please feel free to write here any other thoughts looking ahead to the match ... rare time there’s nearly a fortnight between games! daib0 |

I might upset some Swans fans here, from a post on another forum: Respect towards any play-off team should not need to be asked for; 46 games is surely enough to do justice. But I don't understand why Reading should fear Swansea one bit. As recently as 22nd April 2011 the table read: CHAMPIONSHIP 22 Apr 2011 Pos /Team / P // Pts // GD 3 Cardiff 43 // 75 // +24 4 READING 43 // 73 // +26 5 Swansea 42 // 70 // +18 But it's strange to me that in the last four games a number of people should suddenly begin to go on about Swansea's "attacking football" and "passing game" when during the previous 8-10 games it was all about Reading's wonder surge up the table. It's neither 100% of one or 100% of the other - though both Swansea's victories over Reading came before Reading really started to click. Previous games have little bearing on a play-off match - ask Cardiff fans that now if you like - and supposing we have Kebe back and Long flaring to go then I'd bodly predict a confortable Reading victory ... |

Reading 2-1 Swansea, Long double and a sole Pratley goal seals our place in the big time! |

You know everyones taking about plastics but do you think even if we loose surely a few of them must stick around for next season which surely must be good. More money going in to the club

As much as it hurts me to say it, I really can't see us winning. Their two best players are the two quick wingers and pace is something our full-backs don't have. Their main striker is all amount bursts of acceleration and good movement which is something none of our centre-backs deal particularly well with and they have the ability to pass right through our midfield. To even have a chance I think every player will have to take another step up from the Cardiff game. Prediction: Swansea 2 Reading 1 |

Maybe, Frank, but you're supposing they (Swannie) are going to be 100%. That rarely happens cos of the pressure - and sometimes the other extreme entirely when a team simply doesn't produce. Look at ourselves v Burnley a couple of years back, when a win in the last game would have sent us up automatically instead of Brum. A real let down. I'd ask you to think of it the other way round - Shane is awfully quick too, and a real pest/handful for almost all defenders. Swansea might well score 2 as you say, but I've got US down for four, ha-ha! |

Hopefully but we've lost to them twice already this season and they have put in some of their best performances when under a lot of pressure at the end of the season. I think we'll have more of a chance if we play 4-5-1 and have more protection at the back, here's hoping. |

I have a feeling it'll be one by a solitary goal. 1-0 Reading I'm hoping but it depends if Kebe's playing and if HRK is back as well. Not a major fan of HRK but he's played a bit better towards the end of the season and having a fit right winger would be good. |
