Right, Back and calm. i can totally sympathise with those who've experienced the idiot Cyclists out there. I see them myself everyday, when I'm on my bike and in my car. The road is a dangerous place for everyone, particularly those of us on two wheels. If some want to take stupid risks, that's there lookout.
As for putting number plates on cycles? Really? It's like any other thing in this country. Idots get away with things because there simply aren't enough boys in blue on the streets. Lets be fair if a car hits any thing ,usually some one has seen the number, a cyclist can shoot past you and knock a mirror off which as we all know are not cheap, and pedals off and there is no trace .

Or if a cyclist hits someone, causes serious injury and cycles off without even looking back - like Joel. No one knows who it was did it.

At least that would provide some accountability. Anonymity is one of the things that allow some cyclists the freedom to have the 'who gives a ****' mentality that a lot have. As a driver I feel I'm courteous to cyclists, but it doesn't seem to go both ways. I see where you're coming from and I respect that, but there are too many idiots out there, but the worst part is that the idiots aren't consistent with their idiocy. I quite agree with you, but there are a lot of idiot pedestirans out there to. Kids who intentionally muck about in the road, people on there mobile phones not even aware of their surroundings.
Even if you did find a way of registering bikes, there aren't enough Plods around as it is. Do you really think something as trivial as an annoying Cyclist would be high on their agenda?
Let's say you took the bikes details down and rang the Police. Do you really think they're going to spend time and resources tracking him down?
I Wholeheartedly agree that Cyclists shouldn't be on the Pavement. Fine them, I'm all for that!
